Look at all of this damage that is not being dealt to anyone at all.
What is this, a genuine wrestling match? They rehearsed the fight before and are hitting each other enough to look nasty but not hurt like that?

>>
>>
>>288981886
Okubo you were there in KAT to see how this works.
>>
>>
>>288981907
>>288981912
I think one aspect of the current fight "choreography" -if it can even be called that- is that the different grappling techniques always get completely put, and then Sandrobitch has to find a way for the opponent to undo them, resorting to bullshit like superfinger or this shit, instead of having the opponent mitigate the technique before it's completely locked. Among other things it really makes fights look Pokemon-like.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>288981942
To be honest it mainly makes Okubo look like a gigantic chump, for being overpowered by Seki's left arm alone.

>>
>>
>>
>>288981978
Yes, it's annoying. There are instances of this happening in Ashura too, but I think this one is particularly egrigious beyond most examples because he hasn't got grip strength like Akoya, the devil lance like Kuroki or even Koga's creative use of ironbreaker he just sort of goes "lol didn't work" and gets out of it.

This is quite possibly the worst "power up" technique you could give a guy who's whole thing is he's an MMA fighter who's really good at switching between styles
It didn't even last Okubo enough time because he fucking gassed himself out. This is basically throwing away a win and gifting it to someone else
>>

>>
>>288982243
She likes it
>>
>>288982234
Not only is it a stupid upgrade for Okubo but in particular it's a terrible idea to use it against Sekibayashi, who is gigantic and very durable and who's strategy relies on his opponents gassing out
>>

>pro wrestling only works if your opponent's also a pro wrestler
Maybe in terms of landing the moves, but in terms of taking them if someone is throwing one out for real and not in the as little harmful as possible way you'd do in a match I feel like someone who isn't a trained wrestler would get hit even worse if they don't know the proper way to not get hurt. And also like a pro wrestler is still fucking strong, they're still lifting and throwing each other even if it's for show. It may actually be the one sport where no one give a shit if you're juicing too since it's all presentation and not a real fight anyway. Wrestling being performance doesn't mean wrestlers aren't strong.
But also wrestling is fairly big on holds and grapples and irl those just fuck 90% of other martial arts anyway because it turns out you can't do shit when you have no leverage.

>>
>>288981847
hey lois
>>
>>288982310
I feel like it got the intent behind wrestling, but the purpose is completely inverted. It's as you said, but (in the way it's presented in the page) wrestling moves "work" on wrestlers and the whole bit about sync work in the sense that they're doing as little damage as possible (not going all out, bracing for it, etc), all of which I found extremely weird.

I still hold the opinion that this fight isn't good and fully cements Okubo as a complete joke character. Giving Agito a hard time might as well have been a fluke at this point
This fight also makes Seki's ability to tank everything overstay it's welcome a bit, that explanation for why Seki tanked Okubo's punches is essentially telling us he took no damage at all. The fight was decided before it even began

You have to pray that you're gifted some genetic freak enhancement like Superman Syndrome, Removal, being one of the good guys, preferably the one's with special treatment or something unique to you like Razors Edge if you want a chance at not being total fodder
Okubo tries in vain to become one of these things to compensate for being normal and he had the misfortune of going against a guy with special treatment

I never met a single person before this fight who thought Seki was above Okubo. Though it was closer than I remember it's still a pretty stupid decision and Okubo has to fight like an absolute idiot to make it happen (not to mention Seki's escape from the RNC is ludicrous and purely out of Sandro's anti-grappling bias).
>>
>>288982976
Seki didn't have any of those things but he did have popularity power which proved even more decisive.
>>
>>288982976

I think Seki might be Daro's favorite.
He tends to get the best visuals.

It makes me very happy to see "me" post more of the meme "I" started during the KvP matches. I suppose we have truly become "connected" now.
>>
>>288983158
The various memes that have come up from this reread are pretty good.
"Green" ones aren't stuck in the metaphysical meme meta of Reader vs. Sandro for example.
And then we see things like them recreating memes that already existed, which truly proves the "synchronicity of the strong"

When this fight was first coming out there were a lot of anons thinking Okubo had this. I think we were still in that phase of defending certain fights because a fan favorite won at the time

>>288983039
Lolong is faintly magical
>Knows a school of Silat but it's unknown so someone like Misasa can't just tell you how to defend against it
>Somehow at the top of Purgatory when the rest of his coworkers are supremely magical by nature, no explanation for how he does it other than "He just does"
Lolong operates on aura and mystic, his magic isn't so blatant like Razors Edge or Removal. He convinces you that he's "Strong" through his "Character" and that completely messes up your game going in because you're focused on trying to not get clonked with some special attack and you instead get clonked by a simple elbow to the head. The thing that ties it all together his unknown school of Silat that is probably just him adding some flair, extra tech and whatever, it's not a real school but because it's "unknown" it helps give it mystic and aura, magic

>>288984882
It's not totally awful in concept, but it's literally just a bargain bin version of Spec's Apnea Rush from Baki. But Sandro doesn't fully lean into the sheer absurdity of Baki stuff, so instead of it lasting minutes, it he makes it a "realistic" eight seconds that just makes it feel gimmicky and ineffectual in comparison.
It's also weird to see from Okubo whose whole thing was constant switchups, I think it'd work better for a pure striker guy. Maybe Medel?
>>
>>288982042
I think in the kengan-verse that's just not a killing move against any high-tier fighter. No-one's even worried about someone dying when Kiozan and Seki are flinging each other into the ground and it does 0 damage to either of them. It's consistent at least.
>>
>>288985011
Omega feels so less impactful than Ahsura, 350+ chapters into Omega and nothing has even come close to something like the sekibayashi vs muteba fight in Ashura.
>>
>>288985009
>it he makes it a "realistic" eight seconds that just makes it feel gimmicky and ineffectual in comparison.
Problem is that fights are devoid of flow now. Some anon mentioned it above but they're literally pokemon fights. Fighting in kengan is conceptually indistinguishable from fights in a RPG and it will get much worse

>I never met a single person before this fight who thought Seki was above Okubo
I wouldn't say above, but I always thought that Seki was vastly underrated among the KAT fighters because of how his fighting style is literally the worst imaginable for a tournament. He beat one of the heaviest strikers in the roster, then had to go against Muteba whose entire gimmick was negating Seki's own gimmicks via lethal untankable attacks.
In a randomized round 1 KAT match with no injuries, I think Seki solidly beats more people than he loses to, with obvious exceptions like Kuroki, Agito(but it would be hilarious to see if Agito would try to fight with pro wrestling), and other people you just can't face tank like Waka or Julius.
Hottest KAT Seki takes:
>Raian gasses out against him because he removal spammed too hard trying to LE DOMINATE, and gets humbled by him instead of Ohma this time
>Rei wears himself down on his rushes and eventually slows down enough and gets grappled just like Saw, except that Seki isn't letting him go
>Gaolang is a competitive match because he strikes hard enough to take Seki down, but his paper bones tendencies are a bad match against the wrecking defense
However, I wouldn't have said he was "above" Okubo, or at least that he outclassed him, because choking is one of the most reliable ways to put him down. And unlike Cosmo who I think he would have brute forced back then, I didn't think he would just magic himself out of a hold from someone Okubo's size like this.

Agreed. Seki was robbed by Muteba being magically capable kf no-selling his throws, mysteruiusly competent at ground defense thzn asspulling le deadly heart tzchnique.

Okubo should become drinking buddies with Leonardo
>>
>>288985312
>and other people you just can't face tank like Waka or Julius.
I don't know about that. Not saying Seki would win, but seeing how well he tanked Kiozan, he could probably tank them for quite a while. Kiozan left him battered to shit but it was mostly Kiozan's heavier stuff that left him winded. I don't think even Raian could just shrug off Kiozan's kicks of raging vigour for example, or even Waka.
>>
Everyone complimenting Sekibayashi but I still think Kiozan is really strong. He just lost because he was too angry.
>>
>>288985312
Seki is a bad matchup for Rei but Raian would just obliterate him. Seki's need to take attacks makes him extremely vulnerable to people who's attacks are too heavy to take. Gaolang would just beat him by attrition.

Guys I would rank above Seki at the KAT:

Ohma, Kuroki, Kanoh, Hatsumi (who has a win over him), Waka, Julius, Raian, Kiryu, Bando, Gaolang, Muteba (we saw that), Cosmo (would submit him), Saw - and yes, Okubo.
>>
>>288983008
>>288985312
I'd say it would have been a close fight in KAT. Seki had hard fights and would have beat Muteba if he knew about the heart jab OHKO move. And I maintain my belief Kiozan is the #1 round 1 jobber tied with Okubo.

>Rei
Nah, Kiozan kick knocked Seki out, Rei's bullshit punch to the chin would do the same. I like the other 2 takes though.

>>288983350
>think we were still in that phase of defending certain fights
That reminds me, when did the brainrot and memes really start to take hold? I know people were still optimistic after chapter 50.

>>288985507
>Magically no-selling the throws
Throws have always been a jobber move in a setting where everyone can "disperse the damage" and "fall right". It took like 3 head-to-ground smashes to take out Kiozan.
>>
>>288985507
Muteba's heart jab isn't an asspull it fits with everything else we know about him. Did Seki asspull his counter to the eyepoke?
>>
>>288986103
>That reminds me, when did the brainrot and memes really start to take hold? I know people were still optimistic after chapter 50.

KVP was a slow slide into meme territory but it was Eddie's death that marked the point where people started giving up on Kengan ever being good again.
>>
>>288985312
>because he removal spammed too hard
Fucked up how Sandro asserted through Omega that if Raian really wanted to, he could've just ripped Ohma in half
>>
>>288986103
>And I maintain my belief Kiozan is the #1 round 1 jobber tied with Okubo.
I'd put Inaba (hair + footwork counters a huge number of people) and Mokichi above Kiozan but not by a lot.
>>
>>288985959
Kiozan lacked conviction, that was it and he ran into a guy who lived and breathed his fighting style
But Kiozan did knock Seki out with a surprise kick to the face. He would have won had he not kept going after that. Kiozan is one of the few R1 losers who aren't R1 jobbers, like Mokichi he had the misfortune of fighting someone who could take it and give it back

>>288986103
>That reminds me, when did the brainrot and memes really start to take hold? I know people were still optimistic after chapter 50.

I wanna say when Mukaku fought Shen but we still had people holding out for Willem just cuz he pointed out how weird the Worms were. After Willem died I noticed a decline in anyone trying to defend Kengan anymore
>>
>>288986148
Inaba is weird because his entire fighting style is geared around demolishing mook-level fighters but he's being made to fight in conditions utterly hostile to his training, so in that respect he did quite well to make Ohma bust out any Niko magic at all.

Theoretically Inaba is the kind of man you'd want in your corner in a story like Omega where you're much more in danger of evil weirdos with knives jumping you in alleys. The problem is not only are knives a debuff in this story, but Worms keep killing themselves or going cuhrahzee in honor duels before Inaba even becomes relevant.

>>288986174
I think it's fair to say Omega became a "party" with Eddie's death, but also Willem stacking all those jobber flags on himself was the death knell for having ANY hope, ever. The arc we're coming up on is the midway point of Omega being a paid shitpost, but also arguably the most intense part

Choke holds and Sleeper holds are actually another form of self-hexing, it makes the user think they've already won before the opponent officially goes down which in turn grants said opponent just enough stamina, oxygen and power to break out of the choke hold and suffer zero damage from it
Seki messes up here >>288981989 by trying to put Okubo down using the powers gifted by the self-hex instead of trying to get out of triangle choke similar to how Koga used his imperfect indestructible to get out of Silva's sleeper hold, not trying to put Silva down in the process. Seki takes no damage from this but it prolongs the battle instead of allowing Seki to break free and bumrush Okubo with an automatic KO win combo

I’ve always felt like Seki was near the top of the verse. He fights like an entertainer and still keeps up with top killers like Muteba. If Seki was fighting off stage in a life or death situation he would be a force of nature.
Okubo in contrast always felt like he was meant to represent the wall between pro and underground fighting. He’s the strongest pro fighter but he does so with high difficulty and when he enters the underground scene he’s only just barely top class.

In a world where Naidan, Lu Tian, Eddie and Fei don't exist I would be open to that argument. I just can't entertain it for a character that Ohma defeated with only the Advance and little else.

There's no clever decision-making involved on the part of the fighter when trying to get out of a conundrum. It's basically no different than the usual "lol didn't hurt!!!" bullshit that plagues Sandro's writing, only this time it's "lol didn't work on me!".

>This fight also makes Seki's ability to tank everything overstay it's welcome a bit,
It also introduces an absurd problem way, way later on when even Seki and his tankiness couldn't do anything against Fu Zhan in the Fortnite arc. Obviously, Sandro didn't think this through like with everything else he's done, and he only had Seki lose to hype up Fu Zhan as this terrifying monster who could get through Seki's tanky defenses. We all know Fu Zhan is just going to job to a powerful Kenganvenger anyway.

"Yeah but the author established rules A, B and C pertaining to these numbers through dialogues in this page on that chapter," one might say.
It doesn't matter.
Our beloved genius of an author has the final say no matter what.
He'll overturn these rules if he feels like doing so. Most of the time, he won't even bother trying to rationalize it. When he does try to rationalize it, his damage control explanation is so full of shit (while being so smug) that he might as well have said, "Because I said so!" and invoked the Word-of-God defense.

Glazing Seki this hard is wild remembering that again, a very early series Ohma just had to pull out the Advance to win.

Just looking ahead, it's going to be a mixed bag.
Obviously, don't click since this is all going to spoil a ton.
198-200 is just a whole lot of empty fearmongering about the Inside from Sandro. Nothing happens here. A complete time waster, all made the worse thanks to the rampant AIslop used to draw the Inside. I might as well skip tomorrow's dump.
201-203 is more hyping up and mystifying the Inside, alongside pointless jobber fights.
204-206 has meme moments like "NOT HAPPENING I'M DYING NOW" and the art being so bad that a lot of us thought that there were two Gaoh Mukakus
207-209 is good largely, thanks to fleshing out the Gaoh Mukaku backstory and tying together Real Niko and Tiger Niko's histories. But I'm a point where I've stopped caring about Kengan's overarching plot since Sandro's revisionism and improv makes it hard to care. But I do remember being engaged by these chapters back when they first came out.
BTW, chapter 215 marks the start of the Shen v. Mukaku fight. And chapter 216 is THAT moment. Yes. THAT moment.

>"has this ever happened to a character? Umm, no. Well, there was the time we thought that the deuteragonist was the yandere stalker of the old MC who had mindbroken himself and gotten plastic surgery to look like his old dead crush and made up a martial art on vibes
>"Well no, that wasn't the case... oh right, there was the time that the art got so bad because the artist had just started using AI for everything that people suspected that a character who showed up in the same overall area but looked slightly different and acted much different was a case of doppelgangers, but actually the art was just that bad."
>>
>>288992663
Every single actual Worm impostor has been a tiny side character.
1. Nogi's secretary
2. That creepy fighter who fought in Nitoku's debut
3. That Kengan Association examiner who later fought Koga in the tunnels in chapter 49
It's like Sandro is too afraid of actually having something consequential happen by having this shit affect actually important characters.
Kiryuki would have been an AMAZING revelation for the reasons you explained.

Anyway, trying to explain Kengan Omega to an uninitiated person should count as torture under the Geneva Conventions for how much it'll melt their brains.
>>

>It's like Sandro is too afraid of actually having something consequential happen by having this shit affect actually important characters.
Remember that the targets of Worm impersonators always get killed before being replaced except somehow, for some fucking reason, that useless secretary. And then the hack had the gall to write some bullshit about it being safer, when it fact leaving her alive is precisely what lead to the discovery and alert, leading to the anti-Worm coalition.
>>
>>288984890
I'd say Ashura was more like a moderate intake of fame and money.
>>
>>288992769
He's so psychotically attached to his most irrelevant minor side characters that he couldn't bear to kill off literally anyone for stakes, even random CEOs or B-lister fighters from the boat in Ashura or something. EVERY case of a Worm imposter was a character where we never actually met the original, so nobody we knew technically died. Except as the other anon said, the secretary, which JUST SO HAPPENED to be the one single case where they didn't kill the person conveniently. More made up "good guys" have died in this series than real ones, when you place "the tragedy" up against Rikuto and Yasunaga. Him making up characters to claim died offscreen like that is even funnier for those cases, because Metsudo had ten million irrelevant yet named body guards and he couldn't even bring himself to have written down that Yumi had killed the bald guy who punched Hassad or something.

It's a cool scene, but honestly, grappling is so fucking dogshit in Kengan. Feels like it fails 90% of the time. Sleepers holds and chokes especially.

My brain just activated and started expecting a Dempsey Roll here.

>>288982109
Wow, so he is a legend on par with Shen. He can also turn his brain off.

>>288982225
It's just martial magic.

>>288982237
To be honest, Seki fundamentally just has another version of the "lol didn't hurt" technique, but he's a lot more expressive and fun than the retardedly stoic Niko users and Ryuki so I give him a pass.

Blazblue?
>>
>>288993068
I'm also "green". I don't think there's a single new person reading this that hasn't already seen the Shen turning himself retarded page.
>>
>>288986375
To clarify as well as the other two, you're not aiming to impact with the main palm despite the name. You want to strike with the bony part at the bottom.

Guys...what if Kazzy is the worm imposter?
It would explain his character regression.
>>
>>288993231
>all the worm impostor had to base his personality on was the darkweb footage from the first kengan tournament
I can see it happening, when'd he get replaced, when Ohma came back?
>>
>>288993068
>>288993079
Can you really "spoil" that "nothing will happen"?
>>
>>288993345
Yes.
>>
>>288993250
Probably because that's when he dropped Koga without a second thought and latched onto Ohma, ostensibly because they were so close but really because they're after Ohma.
Luohan was behind this of course.

How the fuck did he even bring himself to kill the old man, one of his most beloved, surely? I know it was a tragedy like no other, but still.

The fighting game. Talking about Evo.
>>

I saw it coming when the Jin that got completely washed by the Susanooh and looked completely clueless on how to deal with him in WF got into GF
The alternative would have been Carl vs Susanooh in GF but that would have been Cancer vs AIDS so frankly that was the better outcome
>>
>>288997224
>this was the better outcome*
Also I want to add that for a second we almost had a game but the retard just completely threw the round for no reason at the end
>>
>>288997224
He was exhausted. He needed all his mental energies to survive Carl and in the end he was too tired for the gorilla Susanoo.
>>
>>288997392
At the end I'm just happy to see BB at a major again, I see those thirty second long combos and go "ah, the good old days"
Also 10 years to add Trinity lmao

You reckon Akoya see Robocop as his own personal batman and is a superfan or would he try to waste him in second 2 cause hurr durr evil?

The latter because Robocop shows mercy. Hell Akoya would probably hate 99% of the Punisher incarnations including MAX for being too soft. Dude is cracked

It's not like Akoya himself is 100% in on the justice thing. A lot of the times when he goes "Muh justice, you're evil, I will kill you" it's just him stimming. He would probably watch/read all that stuff but whenever his CEO girl would walk into a room at moments when the characters on screen aren't blasting crooks into red paste he'd mutter
>Foolish!
or
>Nonsense!
or
>I would've killed them on the spot!

He can kill off Erioh because killing him off set a chain reaction that killed off Eddie, Howard and Hayami
If one "Good guy" died than 10 more Villains have to follow right behind them
>>
>>289003401
I'm willing to be that if you got a candid conversation out of him he'd tell you that he massively regrets killing off Erioh
