Rikka's more intimate chapters with Arisu aren't that bad, but everything else surrounding her character is a chore to read. Shinobu has a similar problem in that she doesn't feel that she's progressing at all due to the inherent limitations of trying to pursue her career in high school, so the only way Igarashi can think to make her feel more compelling is to artificially present her interactions with Arisu as being more romantic than the other heroines, even though they really aren't when you actually compare them in broad strokes. They just give the illusion that they are because the other trajectory of her character arc has so little room for development.
