Can someone explain why Abe no Seimei's shikigami, Amaterasu and Tsukiyomi did not automatically activate to protect Keita from being attacked?
>>
This guy was more of a threat than I thought he'd be. We are basically in a TPK situation. Because, yeah, ok, Graduate One only has one target now. Cool. How do they come back from this? Graduate One isn't going to shuffle their soul organs back into their bodies. Is Oobashi's observer he thought about sending to watch Yayoi going to intervene? Taisui breaks his containment to do something? Tamamura shows up with some new trinkets to help? I got no clue.
>>
>>289110495
Tanuki is the samurai spirit/general ghost.
Quick mtl says
>Kiwamete
Master or Reach for the Peak
>Tengai Guze Gongen
The Avatar of Salvation from Beyond the Heavens

They aren't on him. Seimei retrieved them once Taisui was beaten.

>>
>>289112928
He sorta did? As Risu explained, a human body caused him to be unable to use his full potential, thus Keitarou's six sense turned into a massive glowing light of spiritual energy was now able contact Yayoi to locate the spirit that took his body and allowed Yayoi to attack it even while hidden with spells. If he was fully dead with the connection to his body severed, he probably would be a fairly powerful ghost, but the spirit this time fused and took only his spiritual form while leaving his consciousness behind

There's a link to a twitter account made last week or month with only one tweet. That tweet just links to a fake message board about a guy exploring a "Y tunnel".

I feel like having two graduates titled Transcendent is redundant since Jizo has already been long established
>>
>>289118575
Ungodly fast and precise samurai vs soul specialist spiritualist. Guessing this'll be an interesting fight. Or it might be one-sided since the samurai has no seat to steal. The mom ghost has been there all this time after all and she seems fine.
>>
>>289118691
The words use in the Japanese are different in this case

Transcendent Jizo uses "超越" meaning surpass or beyond something, so Jizo is beyond an average Jizo, while the samurai uses "天外" meaning beyond the heavens or skies, usually meaning when a deity or entity comes from the heavens to the mortal realms
>>
>>289118765
I guess it's more like "Superior Jizo" or "Grand Jizo" then.
>>
The spiritualist ghost is fucking brutal and this is only the first one on the list.
>>
>>289118575

極めて / kiwamete means to "take to the limit", "reach for the peak", "exhaust completely", etc. Given the Warrior's martial prowess and obsession with technique, this is most certainly a command to take his skill to the limit.

Closest English term for a 權現 / gongen would be "Incarnation / Avatar" maybe, so I would go for something like:

"Hone... Avatar of Deliverance outward of Nirvana"

(Because 天外 in this case is, in contrast to seeking salvation by making it to heaven (天), the Warrior's going to deliver it to those who out of reach)

I know nothing about the Backrooms. Can she handle it? Or is it one of those things that once you get in, you are screwed no matter what?
>>
>>289119353
she should be able to escape if she has ghosts with her, potentially even without them but its hard to tell, the original backrooms were harder
>>
>>289119353
I don't think the original backrooms ever had an intended "exit" and if there was, finding it is as improbable as getting into the backrooms in the first place.
Anyways, Bleached Head could try portal-ing her out of there since it is in his best interest to get both him and her out of there.
Nuke option is to just get Priest to send you to hell. There are plenty of stories of people escaping from the underworld/hell. Only problem is that this miiiiiight kill you. But the backrooms would make you wish were dead anyways.

This varies incredibly heavily based on the variant of the Backrooms you're discussing. If we're using the Kane Pixels/film version, it's TECHNICALLY possible to get out of it safely and none of the individual monsters should be of any threat, but it also doesn't really matter because that version of the Backrooms is some form of vaguely sentient reality cancer that's threatening to overwrite our universe. Everyone is fucked regardless of if Yayoi escapes or not, and it's not like she can destroy it either.

It didn't remove her seat of the soul, just dealt her a major spiritual wound. She's basically crippled, but still somewhat functional compared to the others where the kappa tore the seat out completely.

This might be the first time Yayoi has fought against such a smart ghost. The mom ghost did warn her though... And I'm guessing she warned her all the way to when Yayoi got to the group. I don't blame Yayoi for being outsmarted, especially by someone with more experience, however this all ended up with Keitarou's seat removed, Ai's seat removed, Eiko having a 2-for-1 sale, and Yayoi getting soul ripped. I expect her to reflect on this once it's over in the same way she reflected on the battle with Taisui.

The naming logic of Samurai is very similar to "deus ex machina"

> "天外" (Tengai)
> Meaning: Beyond the heavens, outside the known world
> Translates perfectly to "ex machina"
> Literal stage mechanics: The god crane lowering down from outside the stage where it doesn't belong

> "救世" (Kyusei)
> Meaning: World-saving, salvation
> The exact plot function of the trope
> Literally exists just to bail the MCs out of a softlock

> "權現" (Gongen)
> Meaning: Shinto/Buddhist avatar, a deity temporarily manifesting in the mortal realm
> Translates perfectly to "Deus" (God)
> Not just any god, but a god that manifests out of nowhere just for this specific event

> Put them together: 天外救世權現
> The Outerworld Salvation Avatar
> It's literally just Deus ex machina wearing a badass samurai armor
> Shows up for the first time in the absolute absolute peak of despair
> One-shots the boss, refuses to elaborate, leaves
>>
>>289122388
>The naming logic of Samurai is very similar to "deus ex machina"

Ooboss was a supporter of keeping recruiting Yayoi when the exorcists came to discuss what to do with her
The top exorcists mainly deal with divine spirits hostile to humans and has no time to deal with normal evil spirits
The grim reaper eating old lady spirit from Kyoto isn't a graduate class spirit, Kouki was just weak physically speaking
Samurai's graduate village were destroyed by those seeking revenge against him, all the villagers had their organs torn out, but his girlfriend wasn't raped before being killed

Heck, the kappa probably would have joined the Replaced if it didn't seem to enjoy ripping people's soul seats out more than it does wanting a body for itself.

Enemy isn't strong enough to justify him coming out and Ai probably isn't truly in any immediate lethal danger like with Risu to justify it (he can just heal any damage her body does to itself until her seat is restored). Also, we were just told not that long ago that him possessing Ai mangles her spiritual system due to how much power he floods her body with - so doing it too often could likely hurt her worse than what's currently going on.
>>
>>289150442
The Replaced only really need their bodies as extra backup in fights or to go unnoticed in the mortal world. If Risu is any indication, most of the Replaced we see are just expendable bunrei while their divine main bodies are camping out in pocket dimensions or somewhere nearby to monitor the situation. The kappa could probably screw over their bunrei (assuming they need the intact seats and they don't get rid of or modify the bodies so they don't need them) by taking our their seats, but then their main bodies would demolish it and just start finding new vessels to stuff their bunrei into.
>>
>>289160205
Also, Taisui would probably disown Yayoi if she lost to a rank B ghost.
>>
Keep seeing people say that Yayoi should revise the ranking like it wasn't clear from the start.
Ranks only measure the likelihood of encountering a spirit and not how strong they are. S rank breaks the scale because you can't measure a spot if you never get any quantifiable information.
Someone like Sarge would be considered a Rank C because you can easily run away from him if he even chooses to show up.
>>
>>289162051
>Keep seeing people say that Yayoi should revise the ranking like it wasn't clear from the start

>>
>>289150442
>Unless the replaced came as a team, or has some special ability, I assume most of them would lose since he starts with pulling out the seat.
I'm not sure how effective that attack would be on the Replaced
Since they're ghosts in the first place, wouldn't they just retaliate the moment they get pulled out of the body they're possessing?
Risu also mentioned that their bodies limits their curse powers, so the kappa would be extra screwed
>>
Wait, don't die yet, I'm typing.
>>
I wonder what Yayoi is going to do to this ghost after it's defeated considering how badly it fucked with her family and friends which is sort of her trigger point.
>>
>>289163169
>wouldn't they just retaliate the moment they get pulled out of the body they're possessing?
Idk. That's one of the things I'm confused about with this series. How spirits and possession work, and the spirit's strength.
1) Possession. We know that they can possess things that are human shaped, but can they just leave it too? In the Yayoi-Origins arc she ties a binding around the paper dolls to prevent the ghosts from leaving. Are her current dolls like that as well? If so, how is she binding and unbinding them (if she ever needs to unbind them)? Do the liquid dolls in Eiko's room all have bindings too?
2) Possession and strength. Risu says that in a human body they can't use much of their power (>>289118495). What about Yayoi's ghosts then? They're possessing a doll yet it seems like they're at full strength?
>"But they aren't possessing the doll when they fight"
If that was true, then why did Yayoi hold the nail above Bleached Head's doll as he fights? If they still take damage when the doll is damaged, then I assume they're still possessing it.
3) If what Risu said is true, why isn't Keitarou some powerful ghost once he was dethroned from his seat? Clearly he's got a lot of spirit or something, and he is now freed from his body.
4) Are the replaced connected to the seat of the human they possess? I assume they are, and if that is the case, can they casually just leave that seat? Or are they tied to it like humans are.

>>
>>289165199
I think when it comes to them possessing the dolls, it seems like something forced upon them, at least, that's how I see it. Even when they are outside fighting, their essence is still bound to it, so they will still take damage if it is harmed
>>
>>289165275
How can the spirit be freed from its confinement within the doll?
>>
>>289166061
At least the rope around it's neck has to be removed. After that, maybe it can just leave? Idk. I just know the rope is at least keeping it from leaving.
>>
>>289166055
>it seems like something forced upon them
Not sure what you mean.
>Even when they are outside fighting, their essence is still bound to it, so they will still take damage if it is harmed
When they're "outside" fighting, I just see it as a projection of them. Actually, wait, maybe it's like an outer body experience? Maybe the soul is tied to the doll, but they OBE out of it? And they're still tied to the doll in the way a soul is tied to a soul seat? But in that case, couldn't Risu just OBE out of her body and fight with full strength? Idk.
>>
>>289166265
Ok, when I say "forced upon them", it is when Yayoi is binding them to a paper doll or plush. Remember, she has steps for the graduates, she has them bound in rope/chains/seals and she also needs to say the kotodama to even let them out enough to fight. She isn't fully letting them go, hence why they can still be hurt by attacking the dolls.

>Ok, when I say "forced upon them", it is when Yayoi is binding them to a paper doll or plush.
When they get into a doll, Yayoi "persuades" them to (often with threats or pain), but that movement to enter the doll is still of their own will. They aren't spiritually or physically forced into a doll.
>she has them bound in rope/chains/seals
Sorry, I meant to specifically exclude this situation, but I forgot I edited it out. For example, Spirit in a Transitional Period and S-chan don't seem to be in bags of salt, ropes, or chains. I'm not saying they aren't in them in someway, but I don't remember her saying they're chained up somehow.
>also needs to say the kotodama to even let them out enough to fight.
Isn't the kotodama to exert control over them? Not to release them from any bindings?

>rank B
Only the tutor gang uses the ranking system though, nobody else knew about it.
>>
>>289162051
>>289160428

The rankings are based on danger level, by analyzing internet rumors, number of missing people and victim accounts. Ultimately they don't necessarily indicate strength, but rather how the ghost attacks

B rank indicates one victim in a group, but most will manage to escape. Might be because the ghost is too weak to harm too many people at once, but could also mean they're only interested in specific targets

A rank indicates extremely high chance of bodily harm or death, meaning plenty of victims, but enough survivors to give testimony, and usually they are no longer in danger if they successfully escaped

S rank indicates no escape or inescapable curses, meaning the victims are either trapped forever, die instantly or even if they escape physically, they are still killed by curses

Thus, any of the ghosts can be a graduate class if they simply attack their victims a certain way

>3) If what Risu said is true, why isn't Keitarou some powerful ghost once he was dethroned from his seat? Clearly he's got a lot of spirit or something, and he is now freed from his body.
He is. Yayoi mentions how absurd the true shape of his soul/sixth sense is, and even when she was undetectable to other spirits due to the salt water, Keitarou still managed to find her easily. Keitarou just has no understanding of how powerful he truly is, let alone how spirit combat fully works so he can't bring any of that power to bear in any tangible sense; like how Kuubo knew how to use its immense power for attacking but had no clue how to properly direct and focus it until Tai Sui instructed it.
>>
>>289170009
He also easily detected the ghost even when it was using the spell to hide himself so yayoi could hit it
>>
>>289170040
That too. And it's not like the kappa isn't very skilled in its own right, given its using advanced spiritualist techniques. So Keitarou being able to just casually point it out at all is pretty ridiculous. There's a reason Yayoi calls it a "Transcendent Perception".
>>
>>289170064
thinking about itthey should really make him learn how to use it, it would likely make him able to spot replaced on sight
>>
>>289170009
Him not knowing how to fight or bring out his full power as a ghost yet makes sense, but when looking at >>289118437, I'd still expect something to be done. Sure, maybe not some super powerful attack, but not a full zero damage. The only way I can explain this so far is that as a ghost he has like zero atk power. Like how S-chan is more a production ghost than a combat ghost.
>"But he's still seated"
I was thinking that, but he's outside his body now. Yayoi's ghosts can still bring out their full power (I assume) when still binded to a doll, and I assume a doll is more limiting than a human body. I'm guessing once a spirit is outside the body it inhabits, it can use its power in full, and right now he's outside his body.
>>289170263
He has been using it. Yayoi says this is his six sense ability's true form. It's his ghost sensing ability. He can't use it as strong as it is now 'cause his human body holds him back. Even if he did use it though, how would this spot replaced so easily? Wouldn't he have to know the original person's soul first to know there's a different soul inside of that body?
>>
>>289170524
>Even if he did use it though, how would this spot replaced so easily? Wouldn't he have to know the original person's soul first to know there's a different soul inside of that body?
I think anon is implying he could see or sense the true form of the Replaced infesting the body - no need to figure out what the original person's soul was at all.
>>
>>289171194
>I think anon is implying he could see or sense the true form of the Replaced infesting the body
But how would you know that "true form" doesn't belong to that body? Keitarou's true form looks nothing like him.
>>
>>289171441
Yeah but if his perception is so good he could somehow do it
>>
>>289171462
But that's not a matter of perception, right? Even if he perceives it in full, that doesn't mean he would know if that soul belongs there or not (unless he can read mind, I guess?). Wouldn't there have to be something unique or special that indicates if a soul is not in it's original body if he's not familiar with that soul or body?
>>
>>289171529
Yeah but the replaced have monstrous form, while his perception is massive keitarou actual soul is just that small bead-like thing, while replaced like risu-tan where abominations

Do we know this? In here >>289118512 the ghost they're fighting does look different than the others (it's hollow or dark on the inside, and I assume the other two are Eiko and Ai). Are you saying the replaced souls' will look like that?
>>
>>289171875
>Do we know this?
I'm assuming, they might get varied forms but it should be possible to discern, and if every human happens to have the same soul format it would makes it easier too
>and I assume the other two are Eiko and Ai
Assuming its the ghost then . Thats keitarou and someone else, Eiko seat was still inside Ai when it was happening
>it's hollow or dark on the inside
I can't really tell what exactly the top panel is, if it's meant to show how keitarou is "seeing" the ghost or if his soul shape when moving or something
>>
>>289171441
>>289171529
Yayoi wasn't able to tell in the slightest that the kappa presence disguised as Keitarou was any different from Keitarou himself, yet Keitarou immediately sniffed it out with no trouble on top of it actively cloaking itself.

More importantly, like >>289171648 said, ALL Replaced look like horrific monstrosities in their true forms. We even get a hint of Sogen's after he possesses his grandson and it clearly isn't at all human, so if Keitarou can just perceive the raw soul, he'd immediately notice that what's wearing the human skin is actually some manner of eldritch horror rather than a person's soul.

>Yayoi wasn't able to tell in the slightest that the kappa presence disguised as Keitarou was any different from Keitarou himself, yet Keitarou immediately sniffed it out with no trouble on top of it actively cloaking itself.
I don't see how Yayoi failing to notice that wasn't Keitarou is relevant to Keitarou spotting the replaced, or even spotting the Bean Stealer. Also, in the posts you replied to I'm specifically talking about when Keitarou isn't familiar with the body that was stolen or soul that stole it. If it's his own body or seat, or even Eiko's, Ai's, or Yayoi's, then I would think he can spot that since he'd be familiar with those souls and bodies.

>We even get a hint of Sogen's after he possesses his grandson and it clearly isn't at all human, so if Keitarou can just perceive the raw soul
You mean picrel? Pretty sure that's not his "raw soul". In >>289118506 we see Keitarou's raw soul is some sphere. In >>289118512 we see the other's raw soul (or at least I assume it is) are also spheres, including Bean Stealer. What ever picrel is, it looks nothing like a raw soul. It even has a face. Picrel is probably his ghost form or something, like Bean Stealer's ghost form is some upper half of a human body (to our knowledge.)
>>
>>289172112
>I'm assuming, they might get varied forms but it should be possible to discern
If this is that case, then they'll have to explain this. Currently, I don't think we have enough info to say this is possible. I'm guessing they'd have to have a unique soul, or the process of stealing a body leaves leftover clues or something.

Wow people are thinking this through a lot more than I did. I think it's that Yatoi's dolls are inconveniently made versions of possession that's nothing like what a ghost would want it to work the same as Spirit Ripper here is doing something different than like maybe meditating to get an out-of-body experience.

>Yatoi's dolls are inconveniently made versions of possession that's nothing like what a ghost would want it to work the same as Spirit Ripper here is doing something different
The reason possession works better on living people, rather than dolls, might be due to the soul seat. Maybe the soul seat gives the soul proper access to the body or something. Maybe possessing something with a soul seat is like getting a direct connection to the nervous system, versus having to move limbs like the way a puppeteer moves a puppet.
>>
>>289118575
Wonder how they'll seal the Graduate again after he wins with everyone out of commission
The doll isn't in the automatic cage thing, and manually putting the seals back on isn't the easiest thing to do
>>
>>289173451
I don't think that was the kappa's raw soul - it's most likely showing the energy exuded by the three seats it has stolen. I also don't personally believe we should use Keitarou's soul as the basis for what a ghost or Replaced's soul would look like; Keitarou is human, the Replaced are not. Just to use another example of how the "souls" of non-human entities differ from the forms they present, Tai Sui's 'essence' looks like a giant impression of Jupiter loaded with eyes whilst his bunrei resembles a child and his main body appears as an indistinct humanoid. A human's soul is naturally going to look entirely different from the equivalent in a God or Replaced.
>>
>>289174773
Yayoi might be able to put him back in once she re-enters her body and he's too distracted to stop her. Big "might" though.
>>
>>289174859
I think we differ on what we expect or believe a "raw soul" looks like. Guess we'll just have to wait an see what the manga has in store.

I think it's possible since the author really researches this stuff and tries to make it logical and realistic. It's not just some "believe it!" or "because I have to win!" shounen stuff, nor some OP powers that can do anything with no explanation.

There's also the story-telling skill and characters. As some Anon said, Taisui jumping in to save them each time isn't a good look for him, Yayoi, nor the author. The author likely knows this, and makes it so the story can stay interesting and thrilling while conforming to all the established facts and character personalities. The slitted maiden fight. The Black Asura fight at the watergate. The Marbas fight. The fight to release Ai from Taisui. All such great fights and it's like the series keeps escalating more and more, while maintaining it's roots and logic. We've now reached the point where the whole (human) team is incapacitated, and there's a smart ghost and killer graduate loose. We sit back and enjoy it, but I'm sure there's so much work and thought that goes into this manga behind the scenes.
>>

The horror and suspense are what make this manga so great

I'm slightly anal about eyes in fiction/art and this author is one of the few authors that gives eye curvature. I can't find that one chapter where they showed it really well, so here's a few random shots. The eyeballs he draws have a proper convex roundness to them, but on top of that, the irises he draws are also drawn as concave, even Yayoi's. If someone's gonna give her heart eyes, I'd want it to be correct since the author puts this level of details into her eyes.

If anyone curious, Demon Slave is one of the few other works I know of that have visible convex eyeball curves too.

I just realized Yayoi has two sets of irises. The skull iris and the normal circular iris around it. Either that, or the skull iris and circular iris is a single iris of sorts. If I could Q&A the author, this is something I'd probably ask. I might also ask "does the pupils of the skull iris expand and contract from light the way normal irises do". I assume they do, but just for confirmation. Hm... But I guess something more interesting to ask is do they expand and contract from bright spiritual light as well. Take >>289118506 for example. Keitarou is so bright that she's using her hand to block the light. Would they contract in that case? But also, for each eye, isn't one pupil for the spirit world, and one pupil for the real world? Would they expand and contract asymmetrically depending on the real light and spiritual light received? I'd assume it's symmetric though for simplicity.

Kuubo still weak, and Ginbak pretty much one-shots Yayoi's mom in that Bloated belly of hers.
But since ghosts are technically intangible entities that cannot be seen, then most likely they will simply pass by and there will be no confrontation.

I remember that someone from the Versus Threads made a 14th faction of Ghosts based on the human fear of the uncertainty of the afterlife.

"This original faction would be the Ghosts: The very embodiment of the rawest fear of death and the uncertainty of the afterlife.
Capable of possessing and stealing the strength and power of living beings, mostly vicious and sadistic, these incorporal entities possess powers that almost equal those of Demons."

I would say that if the Ghosts were a collab with Dark Gathering, they would be among the most dangerous factions of all, with a threat comparable to Mad God and The Curse.
They have control over life and death, and the souls of the living give them power.

The Ghosts could easily seize the souls of Neo-humans, Lawless, and the humans from Kaiju and video games.
They could possess robots, although that would depend on the type of Ghost.
The only factions that could rival them would be the Demons, being magical beings; the Giants, possessing souls with such Willpower that they could crush any Ghost in the same way they crush the living; aliens; parasites; Gaia's Wrath; The Curse; Mad God; and World Tree.

Someone also asked this anon a very interesting question about this faction.
It was about how it would raise new questions about how the afterlife works and how this affects humans and the 13 factions.
Are all ghosts evil?
Do all human souls are doomed to be taken by the Ghosts?
How do the souls of giants, demons, and aliens work upon death?

I remember him answering based on how the Ghosts of Dark Gathering works: stronger ghosts and deities can easily corrupt human souls and use them as pawns.
Furthermore, the manga shows us what happens when aliens are killed.
And of course, like the other Factions, they obviously function differently than humans.

Gonna reply to my own post because thinking about it more, I would've loved a dynamic exactly like this. And not just because it's really hot.
Eiko hasn't gotten to show off her yandere-ness or super IQ that much since the plot shifted from Keitarou being a ghost magnet to hunting gods and advanced spiritualism. Even at it's peak she was never too bad.

Imagine the wow factor of Eiko not only being a yandere, but top dog after several episodes of Yayoi being established as insurmountable. Like everything would mostly be the same, but with the threatening undertones that this is Eiko's game and she can end it at any time if she doesn't like where it's going.
Both Keitarou and Yayoi's biggest cheerleader wishing them to succeed, and their biggest threat ready to lock him in her basement if push comes to shove.

Whenever characters in a horror manga go to the beach, they always encounter a water-based ghost or youkai

In my best interpretation, it's like simply disappearing from the physical world, but it wouldn't be a kind of second death as such, in my opinion. It would simply be, as I already said, returning to the afterlife.
The same place where we see the other gods and powerful ghosts.
>>
>>289236568
>It would simply be, as I already said, returning to the afterlife.
>The same place where we see the other gods and powerful ghosts.
If you're talking about this manga, other than hell, I'm not sure what place you speak of.
Also, gods are just powerful ghosts. There's nothing more than that that separates them.
>>
>>289236695

>>289173451
It wouldn't be impossible not to think that these are connected to an afterlife where souls are supposed to go as soon as they die, but we see that this isn't the case after 50 days.
>>
>>289219531
>>289221473
Okay, so it would be like this:
>Demons
Tie. Ghosts have many of the same elements as Demons, but Demons are living beings, which gives Ghosts a slight advantage in dealing with basic Demons.

>Robots
Ghosts win.

>Giants
Giants win. Their willpower is such that they can crush even B-rank Ghosts... if they were able to touch them, and even if they die, their souls remain untouched by ghosts.

>Parasites
Ghosts win. They could possess the bodies that Parasites control, but they would have to be strong enough to subdue the Parasite.
I would say that parasites are all one segmented soul, a kind of a hive mind.

>Aliens
Ghosts win or Tie.
They're like demons, but their power isn't truly magic; it's paranormal force. And if this force can even distort reality, it makes them fearsome opponents.
But we also need more Info about Aliens

>Gaia's Wrath
Gaia's Wrath wins. It's the same case as with Giants.

>Neo-humans
Ghosts win. No matter how evolved they are, they're still human at heart, just as birds descended from dinosaurs.

>Lawless
Ghosts win.

>The Curse
The Curse wins. This might be the best counter against Ghosts.

>World Tree
World Tree wins. In the worst-case scenario, this tree could apply Spirit Drain to Ghosts.

>Mad God
Tie. Mad God can distort reality, but so can many of the Phantoms. It would most likely be the Phantom Gods who would deal with him.

>Kaiju
The Ghosts would apply The Remplacemet on humans, but they would still be crushed by Daikokuzan.

>Videogame
The Ghosts would possess the humans, but more info is needed about this faction.

The entrance we see is too large and emits a light as if it were daytime, even though it's supposedly underground, beneath a city.

Also, don't forget, in the manga we see that there is a kind of Hell.

>The entrance we see is too large and emits a light as if it were daytime
If you look at the bottom of the elevator here (>>289237001) there's a bright light. This implies there's a light source below the elevator.
>If I give you the benefit of the doubt, this could perhaps be a portal to the afterlife.
Considering how this entrance is in the basement of Ai's family home, and the fact that it seems Tentaki was waiting there for Sogen (or planned to meet him there), I think the case is that there's a replaced (or one of their affiliates) that can create or connect spaces (like bleached head) and then connected this place to Sogen. But for this place to be limbo... Seems like a stretch since all three of them here are with real physical human bodies and because that seems like an odd place for them to warp to for a meeting.
>Also, don't forget, in the manga we see that there is a kind of Hell.
Yes, and we've seen Priest pull people and animals down to hell, and Marbas walk through a door, but never any word about a limbo. Not saying there isn't some kinda limbo for sure, but this place here doesn't seem to be it.

>>
>>289237294
Well, but we have to guess that's how it is; all the ghosts we see, even these dark ghosts that appears in the Hospital, clearly come from another plane of existence.
The ghosts that, as you say, "vanish" after 50 days due to a lack of energy to keep them anchored to the physical world, must also work like that.

Ghosts are literally souls, but distorted; they have no chance against a technology that can literally turn them into all kinds of weapons and useful objects.

The worst part is that the stronger the ghost, the greater the strength of the model that the Soul Container takes.
>>
>>289237438
>Well, but we have to guess that's how it is
I already agree there is a hell. We don't have to guess it; it's been said in the manga.
>all the ghosts we see, even these dark ghosts that appears in the Hospital, clearly come from another plane of existence.
Yayoi's dad didn't come from another plane to our knowledge. Nor her mom, the eye gouging nurse, solder, courtesan, etc. If some ghosts are coming from hell sure, I can believe that. I've not denied such a thing, and I agree there is one in this manga. Don't see how this relates to Sogen, Tentaki, and Ms Secretary allegedly being in limbo or not.

If a normal soul can last on its own for ~50 days, then I assume eating one might be able to give, maybe, 40 days? If you eat 100 souls, then you get 4000 days, which is about 10 years. There's def some room to pull from those batteries for power in exchange for a few days or months lost.
What's more, if you eat a powerful ghost that also had 100 souls, then you'll double your time to 20 years. It makes sense to spend months or even a full year of spiritual power to gain 10 years in exchange.
