Oh so dad was the guy on the cover. That's a... neat power. Bending space. Creating pocket universes. I swear this guy must have pump and dumped 06 and 07's mom.
>>
>>289185538
SHAO DAMN IT
>>
>>289185758
The what now. Are we giving a name to what 17 has been doing all this time? Space-time fuckery? Albeit teleportation would count as that also, so maybe not. On the other hand it being a hidden discipline would explain why no one in the W.I.S.E. side considered the possibility.

>I'm fine with that as long as it's in the future. These guys have been breathing psy doping for years.
Storywise I don't have anything against it either. I even enjoy how Ageha's power has high potential but comes with a steep difficulty curve that constantly forces him to adapt and modify Melzez, and the whole trial and error that comes with it. It's fun. I wouldn't have any issues with this if we weren't so close to the end. Though even then it depends on how the story will unfold from now on. For example if, in the final volume, 07 has a sudden epiphany, and the endgame is her and past/future Miroku settling this between themselves in whatever manner, in a place out of time, then I won't care if the story concludes without Ageha ever reaching Star Commander level. It would have been fun to watch him develop organically over a long series, but we are pretty much out of time.

In fairness the only thing Shao did wrong was essentially to fail to double tap. The guy appeared dead and he left him, instead of taking an extra minute to destroy the taboo core, crush his head, maybe rip his heart out. Which is understandable given the urgency in going to help others.

I suspect by this point the mangaka definitely knew he was working on a deadline for the series. Either "If the ratings don't improve in the next couple of chapters", or a "in light of your success thus far, we'll give you half a year to wrap up".

Fuck, I forgot these are volume scans. For a second I got excited for that exclusive novel stuff the color page teased.

You talk as if we are in a hurry. The series is not in danger. Trust the plan.

It's referring to the first LN -- another call -- that was apparently released with volume 13. There was another LN written at the end which contains epilogues.

Here are translations for both books. Don't read the second batch of stories if you haven't read Psyren before. And no I don't

don't know where to find an "official" translation*

Well, there's all of two of these literal whos left alive at this point, so it's not going to take much time.

God I love side story collections. Interesting that something like this was given the go ahead when from what I understand Psyren was never that popular.

Popularity is a bit relative. While Psyren never reached break out levels of popularity, it was successful enough to last over two years during a very competitive time in Weekly Shonen Jump. It cracked 100,000 sales per volume at a time when basically every other series in Jump that did that was getting an anime. So it wasn't unpopular, it fell just short of the level of popularity needed to get an anime and a chance at surviving more than a few years in Jump at the time.

These fights against jobbers have been going on so long I've kinda forgotten what's even happening in the plot.
I don't even remember why the jobbers are attacking the Root right now to begin with.
I imagine this was probably worse for weekly readers.
>>
>>289216696
The jobbers are attacking Root because it exists free from WISE, and Wise finally managed to locate it. So they sent in troops to capture or kill everyone.
>>
>>289207027
Enhance is physical reinforcement. It wouldn't help when the problem is simple sunlight exposure.
>>
>>289219294
Just enhance your melanin bro.
>>
>>289220557
That won't help when the taboo core sticks out of the skin.
>>
aaa
>>
>>289207738
Huh. Never read the Kagetora story before. Explains a bit as to why the mangaka was setting him up as a bit of a foil to Junas.
>>
>>289200340
It’s sad to think this color page was probably part of a last ditch effort to boost the series.

RIP Granny.
>>
>>289227598
I keep on seeing "lips" drawn on her face, this chapter, but she's always, always, always, 100% been interpreted as having a "beak" and I've never seen a mouth drawn...
>>
>>289227521
Time for a final battle power-up.
>>
>>289227282
I mean, considering she was supposed to die in that plane crash 10 years ago this really isn't a tragedy. But still sad.
>>
>>289227365
RIP. For what it's worth, she might be the only person in the last 10 years who got to die of old age, surrounded by family.
>>
>>289227429
That's kind of bullshit. The "communicate with machines as if they were sentient" part I mean. That ain't psi, mate.
>>
>>289227468
Yeah, wouldn't it have sucked if he got himself killed by fighting like a suicidal dumbfuck, huh?

Thanks OP!
>>
>>289227468
Freddy looking handsome there.
>>
>>289228709
Even discounting the plane crash it's not really a tragedy. She's dying of old age. Sad that she's dying, unfortunate that Mari isn't there and she didn't live long enough to see WISE defeated, but those aren't really tragic.
>>
>>289227365
Granny died, and all I can do is stare at Freddy's ass...
>>
>>289227282
yeah it is kind of your fault... next time don't play nice
>>
>>289211829
Psyren was a 100k seller? How the hell did it fail to land an anime offer? Even if it wasn't up there by Jump standards it still had a significant guaranteed audience attached. I can only imagine that it was Shueisha who had retarded terms for an IP license and that is what made it less attractive, instead of there being a total lack of interest from potential buyers.

Granny is like the author's mouthpiece.
>>
>>289235129
He didn't really play nice. He intended to kill him and thought he did. His mistake was letting his concern for the civilians stop him from making certain that the guy was dead by crushing the core, smashing his head, or otherwise dismembering or disintegrating him. So the villain got away with playing dead.
>>
>>289228933
Maybe that's a visualization thing.
Like he just "knows" how to do what needs to be done, and they way he sees it is a conversation.
>>
>>289236022
Might be that. Might have spent too little time at the peak of its sales. Might have missed some other criteria. Point is that it fell in a very odd area of popularity. Popular enough to last nearly three years, but falling just short of the level of popularity needed to get an anime and potential sales boost.
>>
>>289236022
>>289243731
Being overshadowed by Bleach and Naruto, which were at full swing probably had something to do with it, but I wonder if there were some other factors that were changing in the anime industry. Only a few years prior manga like Buso Renkin and Black Cat got anime despite neither being major hits themselves, and were also relatively short. Mid-decade also saw the beginning of split cours anime seasons, which were previously quite rare, so maybe something was changing with the funding schemes that made it harder to justify giving it a production.
>>
>>289227446
It's kind of funny, when you think about it Hiryu's only had a few weeks of learning to use his power, with only a little bit of actual teaching. Missing out on all the pointers that Ageha got. Yet here he's talking tough like he's a veteran, not a guy who's only really fought taboo.
>>
No wonder this manga got axed. It’s competent but extremely basic and unoriginal. Couldn’t be more stock shonen if it wanted to.
>>
>>289248033
The psionic power system is the most disappointing part. At this point they're just random powers coated with psi.
