I'm fully convinced that a lot of things in part 2 were invented on the spot. One of the biggest things being Naruto's lineage. I bet Kishi never actually intended to make him Minato's son and their resemblance was supposed to be just that and nothing more. Biggest reason why I think that is Jiraiya and Kakashi who now look like the biggest fucking assholes ever. You'd think that Minato's teacher and student would step up to at least be in the kid's life and not just ignore his lonely existence for twelve years. Especially since Jiraiya was his godfather and Naruto was named after a character from his book.
