Yep, new show is shit.
>>
The film from 1995 was for adults. The new anime is for 10yo children. Simple as that.

An argument can be made that you don't need movie budget to have proper lighting, anatomy, and shot composition.
>>
>>289263373
everything you just listed doesn't happen without budget dumbass

Is 4chan just rehashing xitter posts now? Was 70 updoots not enough and now you want (you)s?

It's what I expected, I'm liking it but mostly as a jogger for what I have vague memories in the manga. It sticking closely to the manga was a point of concern to me as it was always the weakest of all the iterations I've seen/read so far(except for the live action attempt).
The reality of it is that the true geniuses behind the franchise have always been Oshii and Kamiyama.

Soul vs soulless
>>
>>289263792
The 95 film is just a dumbed down version of the manga.
>>
>>289263035
Movie is grey and nobody smiles.
>>
>>289263482
They're almost entirely reliant on budget.
There is no such thing as a cheap anime that looks good.

It removed most of the cartoonish goofyness and tied together multiple arcs into a single story rather well. Hardly dumbed down.
>>
>>289263915
It removes the entire point of the Puppeteer's scheme, and the spiritual aspects of technology are reduced to just, "technology replacing humanity", which is contrary to the comic.

Jesus Christ, panning is the lost technique now? Or the idea was to turn anime into animated panels? This looks static as hell

modern animators are so creatively bankrupt in utilization of layouts despite all the advancements with the CGI and dynamic camera that it is just sad. Even worse is how the anime fans who are eating this up with muh 90s lineart aesthetic when it's just display of limited skillet with filters doing the job.

The future supposed to be bleak and full of unhappiness. That's the reason why GITS 95 was interesting and unique. Oshii work is just absolutely amazing.

>>
>>289263035
I'm mostly okay with it. There's some nitpicks that are mostly personal preference.
Only thing I take issue with is showing the walls are digital at the start. The coolest part of the movie's opening scene was when the "fish tank" exploded.

You're a pissant. I got kinda mojor Lupin the 3rd vibes from this thing. I didn't even know it was coming down the pipe, didn't know what to expect. It threw me for a loop, but it wasn't shit.

Thing I don't get is why Togusa was there. I was under the impression that he was a fairly new join to Section 13, unmodded, all that, since I basically grew up with SAC.

We can also discuss composition, artistic direction, character designs, lightning or framing, if you are interested. But I suspect that you are just a seething normgroid hurt by different opinions.

>>
>>289264487
Unironically gigakino
>>
>>289263035
Characters on the left look too goofy. Like some generic pokemon crap.
>>
>>289269637
A lot of people come from the video game world where there is a world of difference between what devs could do in the 90s and today.
But for animation, the difference is far less substantial and they don't realize that.
It's still fundamentally a very similar production cycle. Even more so regarding GITS 95, as that was an early adopter of various CGI and digital coloring and compositing methods.

Shit, a large amount of modern anime is still hand drawn on paper in many cases.
>>
>>289269674
They're drawn in a style that existed in anime a decade before Pokemon
Maybe two decades, I disremember
