Smoking is objectively aesthetically cool. Think of that person doing anything else like stretching or drinking water or just standing there inhaling fresh air like a dork. Those are objectively better ways to pass the time but also objectively less aesthetic.
smoking is only cool in artistic depictions of it. I've never once seen someone smoking irl and thought they looked cool.
