After reading Underground, Super frog saves Tokyo, Night on the Galactic Railroad, and the context behind the Gas attack in 95, as well as putting into mind how the penguindrum is divided across the show, what each instance of symbolism means, and what each character's relations and motivations are, and then giving this a rewatch, I seriously think it's a masterpiece.

I really love the scene where Ringo climbs back up, runs up to Himari and tosses her hat. It's played for laughs and you think it's just supposed to show how eccentric Ringo is once again, so you don't dwell on it very much. But it already shows that Ringo can overcome her fate - the fate of eternally resenting the Takakuras
