Remake when and which studio would be the best to animate it?

I wish Studio NUT would take it. They seem really capable in making action packed stories with deep character exploration and world storytelling.
My dream would be Carlo Zen rewriting it, with NUT animating it.

>remake
Please off yourself for even saying shit like that.
>>
>>289301048
It has to be REIMAGINED, a faithful ADAPTATION

Remake Never. Same with S3. It's just been too long. The manga's finished and the author moved onto other projects. It's only 15 volumes too, so it's not something worth reviving for the reprint money like Ranma. Best we'll get is a The Valiant Must Fall anime somewhere down the line. In the end, the manga will have to be enough. The story is told, we've got to move on.
>>
>>289301227
What is the author doing nowadays and is it any good?
I wouldn't mind seeing the full manga adapted. The story felt more mature than the shit we get nowadays.

After GSG he made a school baseball romance manga called 1518! and then went on to put out Yuukiarumono Yori Chire. The former didn't get a US localization and only has the first two volumes scanlated, but the latter got picked up by Seven Seas as The Valiant Must Fall. I haven't read it personally yet, but the year it started it won a best-seller award, and I'm planning on picking it up once I have the time. It's got some Gunslinger Girl in Edo Japan vibes based on the older man/young girl pairs doing murder.
>>
>>289302059
Huh sounds like fun, guess I will have to check it out. I want more mature stories like Gunslinger Girl.
>>
>>289302059
ive been reading this, it's pretty good imo, there's a little too much history info dumping for me but it is worth picking up if you have nothing else on.

As for GSG i want an italian dub

Have there been any good Girls With Guns anime or manga recently?

Girls und Panzer was the last one. Also Youjo Senki

Actually well written story that explores the ramifications of child soldiers, the geopilitics and Italy's role on it.

Is it serious or leans more towards comedy?

The first season was early aughts Madhouse kino. People might complain that it's not a close adaptation like the second season was, but it was immaculately animated, paced, and performed in a way that a close adaptation wouldn't have been. The second season was much rougher with a much lower budget with a different studio, but as a fan of the manga, I quite like the second season too. Generally, if you watch the first season and like it, pick up the manga from the first chapter and read to chapter 27/end of volume 5. If you enjoyed what you read, you'll enjoy season 2 way more than if you went in blind. But watch the S2 OVAs before picking up Volume 6. The chapter 29 reveal goes way harder that way.

Lycoris Recoil feels like the most obvious answer, and Tanya is currently getting her 2nd season. If you're looking more for the "children turned into weapons" vibe without necessarily needing guns, I Want To Love You Until Your Dying Day is also this season. Most of the rest recently have been Gacha adaptations. Maybe that Grisaia spinoff that got an anime last year? I haven't watched it yet, so I don't know if it's good or not.

The setting is serious, but the faces are goofy. It's just kind of dumb fun but then people die.

There is absolutely no point in a remake that does not adapt the entire thing all together. None. You're not going to do better than what Madhouse did with the first season as far as an incomplete, single season adaptation goes.

Anons in the past had mentioned that the mangaka wanted a tighter control in the second season, it was overall not well received, so the chances of it being revisited might be slim unless he's not as controlling as he was with the second season.

Precisely what I want. I want nothing more than to watch the nuclear reactor arc.
What if the creator drops dead and a studio snatches the ip?

I honestly just don't know these days. About 10 years ago I would have told you that WIT is a great studio but I just don't know who would be best anymore

Now I think if Gohands did it, then that would be really really funny.

I keep thinking NUT is the best choice for this. Just imagine this but with the Gunslinger Girls action scenes and someone like Carlo Zen or George R.R. Martin writing the adaptation.
>>
>>289306401
I can't tell if you're baiting me or dumb? Neither Carlo Zen and George R.R. Martin were the screenwriters for either of their adaptions. Aida Yuu (Gunslinger Girl's mangaka) was the screenwriter for the 2nd season, though. Also the idea of George RR Martin getting his fat grubby hands on this would awful.
>>
>>289306401
>imagine (...) George R.R. Martin writing
I think an actual flying loli wizard is more likely to happen.
>>
>>289306596
George would ramp up the incest and geopolitical exploration of Italy, all which are pros in my book!

Part of the creative issues with the first season mostly had to do with Angie presumably dying at the end and how it kind of locked out further seasons. This was, and still is fairly standard practice for anime production, where a show gets one, MAYBE two seasons in order to sell volumes and improve the profile of the print version. That extends the life of the media and justifies further serialization, but on the flip-side, that makes the serializations much more long in the tooth and riskier to complete animated adaptations for.

If they started where they left off, Gunslinger Girl would need another four cours to completely adapt. For a manga that's well over a decade past its last chapter, and nearly two decades since its most recent season, that's just not a good investment for a production committee. ASCII Media Works wouldn't do it even if Aida-sensei dropped dead.

>>289306401
>George R.R. Martin
Ew. GSG is one of those precious few manga series that could in theory be adapted for live action in the west without a large loss of quality, but there's not enough fucking in it to justify that fatass. Guillermo del Toro would be a far more fitting fatass considering the tone and themes. It would never fly either way. The complicated nature of the relationships between the girls and their handlers would rile up the censors something fierce.

A while ago in a GSG thread some anon posted about the years of terrorism and turmoil in Italy. It was interesting and made me look a bit into it, and honestly learning about the whole Gladio project made me shit bricks. If you're reading this, cheers.

Akiba Maid War.. LycoReco was popular, but to me it felt like a weird GochiUsa + GSG hybrid that failed to replicate the appeal of either one of those shows.
