Nano banana has revolutionized my typesetting but wrangling it is like having a team of kindergartners doing my redrawing. If AI is this bad at following instructions I'm feeling pretty good about the future.
>>289302887I would say mangaharbor.com but it's more of an archive project, it's self-hosted, ad-free and they offer a free cloud to scans who upload there, I would only recommend it as a backup tho

Entry into Mangadex's Popular New Titles rankings make absolutely no sense. Some random series with well over a thousand fewer follows got in before my series, it too only had one chapter out and similar enough rating for those to not matter. Even right now the list isn't ordered in descending order of the number of follows. I doubt still we have the MD jannies who lurked years ago here but some insight would be nice.
>>289309071go into the mangadex discord support channel and ask them to refresh cache for your seriesit's well known and those who knows about it use it to manipulate their series into the list, and the mods gaslight people who points it out
>>289309300Thanks anon I'll do that next time, it's too late now, my series is a stillborn thanks to them. I saw they even intend to remove auto approvals for new title drafts for group leaders, I'm starting to get real tired of their shit.

>>289309380>I'm starting to get real tired of their shit.yeah, there's so much crap from them and I've been tired from it for yearsfrom the shitty stuff like this, to trying to be an authority of what should be allowed for scanlations, to controlling the manga subreddit to promote their site and not allow links to other sites, and then most likely selling the site built by the community for some easy moneyit's so sad and shitty that it is this way, and even shittier that people still support this corrupted site
>>289309386>Popular new titles is really simple. For all titles created in the last 30 days (rounded up to the next hour), filter out titles that don't have chapters and don't match users selected content ratings, then return the first 10 titles when sorted by follower count descending. That is all there is to it. >Yep. 10 titles that were created in the last 30 days and have at least one chapter, sorted by followed count (plus taking into account content filter settings). >>289309654>It's a shame sites like Weebdex only really seem to survive when their predecessors are killed off completely.yeah, weebdex had nearly no traffic, there was no way they were going to survive when nobody used it. it also took several years and mangadex getting nuked for comick to gain popularity, before the mangadex nuke it was barely used
>>289309654>especially in a case like this where checking it is really simpleI especially like the part where they do the really simple check, proves that the mod is completely wrong, and then the mod starts gaslighting. I love how I report missing volume covers and my report stays on waiting for weeks with the covers eventually being uploaded by someone with perms anyway. It cannot be that hard to filter through cover art reports and complete them
>>289316480>paint over the precise parts you want redrawn in red>crop sections of each page out so it isn't overwhelmed>be sure each section is touching the page border (important for later)>feed it your crops with a descriptive prompt, for example mine: "You may only draw within the red areas. Redraw the areas covered in red, leaving no text in the image. Maintain the art style as faithfully as possible. Do not add needless details—keep it simple. Do not sharpen the image. The final image should be black and white.">when it works, download the full size image>the size will be wrong so overlay it on the crop you made with the red marks>change the redrawn layer to ~30% opacity and resize it until they're lining up perfectly>select the red marks with the magic wand, switch to the redrawn layer, invert selection, then delete that part of the image>you will now have precisely what you needed redrawn and a guide layer>send both to your original page and fit it in place using the guide layer along the page border>delete the guide layerIt will take practice learning the AI's quirks. It wants to redraw the entire image no matter what, so it will often add pointless details. Try not to give it too much empty space. It will also attempt to redraw objects that are cropped, like say a character's face, so in that case try keep the whole head in frame if you can. Sometimes you're just going to have to brute force it a few times before it cooperates. Sometimes Flash is better than Pro because Pro spends more time thinking therefore adding needless bullshit, so try swapping models if it's not working. Sometimes it will subtly adjust the proportions so your layers don't line up, but often the bits you needed redrawn are fine.
>>289316723But that's redrawing not typesetting...
>>289316489One of the main reasons I made a group even though I mostly just work on /a/ stuff these days. It just sucks not being able to do simple stuff like that. I do a release couple of times a year or something.

>>289305325突っ込み不在 (tsukkomi fuzai) literally means "the tsukkomi is absent" or "there's no tsukkomi."Here's the breakdown:突っ込み (つっこみ, tsukkomi) – the "straight man" role in Japanese comedy, especially in 漫才 (manzai). The tsukkomi reacts to the other person's absurd or foolish remarks, pointing out the nonsense, correcting them, or making a witty retort. By extension, it can also mean someone who calls out odd or illogical behavior in everyday conversation.不在 (ふざい, fuzai) – absence; not present.Natural English translationsDepending on context, it could be translated as:"There's no straight man.""Nobody's calling them out.""There's no one to keep things in check.""No one's correcting the nonsense.""Everyone's just going along with it."NuanceJapanese speakers often say 突っ込み不在 when a conversation has become increasingly ridiculous because no one is playing the role of questioning or correcting what's being said. It can be humorous or mildly critical. For example:A: "Let's solve traffic by replacing all cars with giant hamsters."B: "Great idea! We should train them to obey traffic lights."C: "What about hamster parking?"Someone watching might comment:突っ込み不在だな。"There's no straight man here.""Nobody's calling this out.""Everyone's just rolling with the bit."So the phrase isn't just about someone physically missing—it implies the absence of the person who would normally bring the conversation back to reality.

Bandwidth, legal issues, bots scraping the shit from your website that you've scraped from MD in a twist of irony, DDOS attacks, server hosting issues like them being little bitches or straight up disappearing or cancelling your contract, etc. There's a reason a ton of these websites come and go, and the ones that stay aren't updated often or missing a ton of stuff, use lower quality images or formats, and are slow or unresponsive. Also, for some reason, the guys who always make these new alternative websites go full retard and host manhwa/manhua, which is a fast track to shutting down.

>>289313745Do they not have ads?
>>289318341>Soon you won't even be able to create new title pages right away without approvals unless your role is a contributor or above, group leader role won't cut it.Makes sense, it's too easy to become a leader of a solo group despite being a retard.>You'll literally have to be a MD janny cum guzzler to create titles going forward.Yeah the shit you have to go through to get contributor status is like a humiliation ritual.Well, except I just kinda got it gifted to me when someone in the discord recognized me as a danbooru janny lmao.
>>289337066Prerequisite: I like the manga enough to be willing to read each chapter multiple times (very few and far between)Condition 1: No one serious is already working on it or is likely to.Condition 2 (new): I have to come across a motivated ts/cleaner that needs translations for a manga that meets the above requirements. The addition of condition 2 basically means that I retired from scanlation. The last release I was involved in was almost 2 years ago at this point.
>>289343953Most likely I'll probably just post it everywhere first and then create the title afterwards. They'll probably be faster at creating it if they see that people are reading it everywhere than at their place.
>>289337066>What is your criteria for picking up a new project?honestly that it'll be somewhat popular and create hypeif it doesn't get any attention and discussion I'm probably not going to bothermore than half the fun is the community and the buzz, it's not fun if people aren't interestedI'm never going to understand hipsters and indie lovers who work on garbage no one is interested in except super niche people
>>289344050>I don't get the fan part of fan translationsStart a paywall group already turdy.
>>289344083retard, my point is that the fun is reading together with other people, it's not fun doing something alonenot everyone is autistic like you
>>289335817this is the kind of manga that is only popular in Japan
i could never get used to gimp, but it was pretty cool to use and photoshop was fucking rape to use in highschool. would rather have my nuts ripped apart before i gotta use that shit again
>>289344316>photoshop was fucking rape to use in highschool. would rather have my nuts ripped apart before i gotta use that shit againwhat? photoshop is pretty intuitive. it's a reason it's had its position for 3 decades without being challenged
>>289344316Then what DO you use?
>>289344225I don't think this style of misery porn is exclusive to Japan but it's definitely not a genre popular in the western manga fandom.

My favorite is when groups say donate to us to save the series from the axe
>>289345259Yeah I guess. Though I'm not really looking to get back into it. It's more like I could be persuaded (by a fellow passionate fan) to come out of retirement.
What are the most common Clip Studio Paint brushes that mangaka use, for the sake of seamless redrawing?

>Assuming anyone is gonna translate his workIs this based or cringe?
Based for absolutely BTFO weeblators with that >don't just transliterate sfxand>don't leave the title untranslated
>>289347297> transliterate sfxOnly yenpress does that
>>289347207He said please so cringe
>>289345051
>>289347297>don't just transliterate sfx>ふきだし内I think he just wants these bubbles translated as opposed to left alone like most lazy H-TLs do.
>>289301681dumb retard
>>289301681based scholar
>>289347516I mean, how much would you charge to go to a store every monday midnight, buy and immediately scan like 100 pages of a random mag you don't give a shit about? Seems pretty reasonable.
>>289345084「je t'aime」
>>289347555I transliterate SFX if it's something that's relevant to understand the scene, I don't think a reader needs to be informed if, like, someone's flipping through papers or taking pictures with a camera that they can't piece together what the SFX on the page is alluding to.Also they tend to be hand-drawn and often the choice is either erase something made directly by the mangaka or covering more of the page with potentially non-essential text.
>>289347037but what if you could have both
>>289347516This has got to be a joke.
>>28930130Captain Earth anon, I just sent you an email.
>>289348820I had to use English ruby text to deal with some of these, I despise them
>>289348143Yeah the scanning alone justifies the price. 100 pages is very tedious, even if you aren't editing them beyond it.
>>289348143I wouldn't do that I would just get a digital copy of the magazine.
Someone last thread asked how we feel when a series we've been keeping an eye on for a long time without actually picking it up gets picked up by another group, and I replied that as long as their work is decent I don't mindWell, since then, someone picked up a series I've been keeping an eye on without actually picking it up, and it's so shoddy it's making me madThe world sure loves pulling the irony card on me
>>289350217that's sort of the rule anon, if it seems it'll become even remotely popular, it's picked up by these patreon/coin based paywall mtl groups that couldn't care less about putting out a better productI'm fairly certain everything I've dropped over the years either have been abandoned, or picked up by groups like that. Latest one even got the most basic of basics wrong.
What's some manga that will make me rich for translating it?
>>289350702Shitting dick nipples diaper furry porn
>>289350879that be more funny if it wasn't true
>>289349435But then you can't release your scanlation before the official translation drops.
>>289349344nah, it you're not in it for the hobby then it's better not to bother
>>289350670Thing is, mine wasn't even that popular, it got axed after 3 volumes like 6 years agoI had been putting it off in part because I was sure nobody else even cared about it, so I guess that was kinda my fault
>>289351306why not just fucking do it if you want to.
>>289351035Your goal shouldn't be to be the first, it should be to be the best.
>>289352583>Your goal shouldn't be to be the first, it should be to be the best.that's admirable, but retardedthe first release out is the one that gets scraped by aggregators and everyone is going to read
>>289352925You're the retard. If two groups are releasing a project, anyone worth having as a reader will compare them and wait for the better release. If you're going to release things to pander to speedreading retards who don't care about the material, I hope you're at least not also the type to complain about only having speedreading retards reading your releases.
>>289353040you're cute, but naive
>>289353292I just don't care about a lot of people reading my releases. I also don't work on ongoing series or anything that would have competition, anyway.
>>289350217That's how it is, muchacho. You either take your shot or someone else will.
>>289353818I'm still bummed over that a manga I considered working on but decided not to, even managed to get an anime adaption. How that one I decided not to work on continued and got an adaption, and all the other stuff I worked on got axed early without any interest, is honestly beyond me.
>>289352583These were for-profit groups that were raking in serious cash in donations by scanlating Jumpshit several days before the official translation dropped.
>>289354745I find it hilarious that the people behind Jamini's Box and Black Cat Scanlations got shot down because of that fucking twice.
>>289353874Tell me about it. I have top sellers in my lineup with one of them placing high in the Tsugi Manga awards for two years and yet no anime announcement.GOD, I just want to feel that rush of witnessing an annoucement!
>>289345276>it was picked up for an official translation>volume 1 comes out in Decemberthat's a bold move considering the manga is ending this summer lmao
>>289356898if it's licensed there's really no point working on itnobody will read your scanlations when the official releases are outit's a waste of time honestly
>>289356898Oh, didn't know it's ending.>>289357041It will take years to reach the ending. If they even keep at it.

>>289361922Anon, have you ever played a visual novel or something and heard how Japanese people actually vocalize what you translate as “fufufu”, same with “kyaaa” honestly?Like, what does it sound like in your head?
>>289361700The paying customer can stop paying as well. It's a choice of what you think is the bigger investment.
>>289362004Have you never watched an anime where the seiyuu will literally and very audibly scream "kyaaa"?

>>289363174That's slow and I dread the day a full page of cool Chink shit shows up
>>289363123Gemini flash
>>289362763No, that's kind of the point isn't it?“Fufufu” is just something some Hepburnfag invented who didn't understand what the sound a Japanese person imagines in his head when he reads “ふふふふ” is supposed to sound like and then it ended up living a life of its own including that bullshit claim I see here that male characters don't use it due to a combination of translators only choosing to use it when a female character does it and a healthy dose of permavirginity entertainment wherein every [read: the only] male character is a boring boy scout.By the way, I just image-searched “フフフ 漫画”, this was the third image, second image was also male but this is the final kek for all those faggot permavirgins who say male characters don't use it.
the pokemon games used "fufufu" and I didn't know wtf it meant as a kid
>へへ = Lol>ふふ = Lmao>はは = RoflThe one and only truth.
>>289363327It means pretty much what you imagine in your head when you see “Hehehe” written down. That's what it sounds like. The reason for “fufufu” is because>Hepburn was a mistake and it should've been “huhuhu” to begin with>Japanese treats /u/ as the most neutral vowel of the language so that's the vowel they chose to transcribe what is actually not really a vowel at allThat's it. The scanlation turned Korosensei's iconic laugh into “Nurufufufufu”, the official translation used “Nrehehehe” which is the correct choice when you see what the voice actor and director settled upon in the television series showing what Japanese people imagine in their heads when they see it. “Fufufufu” has always, like every other bit of permavirgin fake Japanese culture, been a lie that never existed.>>289363369Based.
>“Fufufufu” has always been a lie that never existed.Innit doesn't watch anime, huh.
>>289363286>NoThey say that all the time, watch more anime.
>>289363828Doesn't occur in it. In fact, Japanese people are notoriously bad at producing an “f” sound to begin with.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmP75i_X7eoDoes this sound like an “f” to you or more like “nrehehehehehe”?
>>289363920Then why don't you come with an actual example of a laugh where there's an actual f in it?
>>289363921>you can literally hear hurufu at the beginningYep, innit confirmed for being insane trannylator. Not like it wasn't obvious to begin with.
>>289363985Just shows how deaf you are then because it's “ヌルフフフ”, not “フルフフフ”.
>the f sound doesn't exist in japan, it's a myth>so are all wasei containing フォ ファ フェ フィ, because japs are literally too stupid to realize how their own phonemes sound.
>>289363985You're the one trying to have a conversation with a dude in a straitjacket.>>289364086Same with you, shut up about ufufu already, we know.
>>289363938I was talking about kyaa, you retard. Learn to read.
>>289364086They're typically not pronounced with an f anon. You do know the difference between a labiodental fricative and a bilabial fricative don't you? You're not telling me that you never studied the mechanics of Japanese phonology and are just substituting English phones and that you also don't know the difference between the Japanese lamino-alveolar and the English alveolar stops right? You don't actually round your lips when you pronounce the Japanese labial approximation right? Oh please don't tell me you haven't properly mastered the uvular nasal and just use the English dental nasal?Oh no.>>289364133Replies with just a no context “>no” and then complains people aren't “reading”.Who knows, maybe this staggering display of autism is what contributes to your permavirginity, but I'm going to say it's mostly your lack of personal hygiene. And no, it sounds nothing like it.
you forgot to tell the AI to add greater than sings for the greentext
>>289364193You sound upset.
ufufu, gemini made cleaning so easy kyaa~
>>289362175but FOOO is correct!?
how do you differentiate ufufu and kufufu

>>289345051Many such cases.
I was on the verge of making a $100+ mistake by ordering the Japanese edition of Veil until I realized all the dialogue is handwritten which I wouldn't even be able to decipher.
>>289364133Then you should stop talking because we're talking about fufufu.
What is this? Anyone?
>>289364854See, kufufu is such a moe trope that you're actually most likely to hear it pronounced as "kufufu".But "ufufu" is more normal, and more likely to be pronounced as something closer to "əhəhə"

>>289362914>>289363123Stop being retarded. If the original audience isn't meant to understand something don't go out of your way to make it understandable with your translations.
>>289367506Japanese can understand they're looking at Chinese and look up anything that might be interesting to them. This audience doesn't have the ability to distinct that. It's just a contingency anyway.
>>289368233Silly rationalization of someone used to deciphering magno instead of just reading it. It falls apart completely if you think about it for more than a second since you can easily level the playing field with a page at the end teaching readers how to OCR and MTL.
>>289368401I was just gonna put a line saying "I can't read Chinese, lol", fag
>>289368427If it's not clear from context just explain that the writing chinese in a tl note. No need to make excuses.
>>289345138They recently started translating a manga about a troon that commits suicide and changes bodies with a girl. Probably one of them complained they where promoting suicide or something.
>>289368401Japanese people can easily read parts of it like 下水道, 搬家 and 空調, and recognize these as phone numbers for household services such as plumbing, installation, repairs, moving, etc.EOPs just see ching chong nip nog
so you should translate it to afrikaans instead
>>289368596Or they go>oh it's chinese I've seen this pattern before it's going to be made understandable soon>they look down the page and there it isYou're doing this because you like deciphering shit, nips are just trying to consume lowbrow entertainment. Repost from the GITS thread, just in case I find someone autistic enough in this one.>Any news about a proper digital release of GITS vol1 manga in English? The only releases that are translated, uncensored and not flipped horizontally are these:https://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Shell-Legacy-Manga-Deluxe/dp/B0FCGDT59S (this one should contain the most recent translation)And this https://www.amazon.co.jp/Kodansha-Bilingual-Comics-English-Japanese/dp/4770029195Both are physical only.Someone could use these torrents to make a good digital version, but it will take a lot of time:https://nyaa.si/view/1740477 - official digital release in Japanesehttps://nyaa.si/view/1051084 - official digital release in English, censored, flippedhttps://nyaa.si/view/1126811 - old scans of the first English edition, translated and uncensored, but also flipped
