The story's kinda whatever, but it's the characters that suffer the most. Almost all of them are flat as cardboard, annoying, or both, and any attempt the show makes to wring drama out of the cast falls utterly flat. The series' placement and execution of humor isn't much better either. Things do improve towards the very end of the first season and into the second, but it's sorta too late by then and it doesn't improve by much.

Plus, while it was always a gag dub, the style of gag dub changed as it went along. The first season was definitely the most tolerable of the bunch.
