Kitami is actually affected by the central conflict and he moves the story forwards. This manga had a ton of hype in its first few chapters.
Lally had potential to become honorary human. Even at young age he displayed politeness and skepticism towards his special status most Blockheads didn't have. The problem is, Lily was a massive overprotective parent. Every time Lally would have these moments of doubt, he would immediately shut them down and ego boost his precious gooblet.The absolute worse thing he did was to feed into this delusion that he had any chance with a girl, let alone a human girl. Lally's blood is on Lily's hands too.
