We see an endangered species thriving in the CITY, while the soccer team has their morning practice. I remember the first time we saw him there was some confusion over his identity, but we do get confirmation later on that The Scholar is a wise and intelligent animal of the giant salamander species.
Why does the soccer team have a baseball bat and baseball glove among their equipment? Perhaps they're confused about the rules of the game and that's why they are so bad without their star player Sasago.
They have a spy on their team!
Our first clue of Nagumo's unnatural athleticism comes early in the episode, when she gives Wako her best photograph of the day. This will of course come back later in the episode during Niikura's flashback.
Wako is ALWAYS wet.Also I noticed that in this Mont Blanc sequence, Niikura is wearing one of Shia's Mr. Explosion shirts. Those Mr. Explosions show up all over the place. It's a shame we didn't get more of Shia herself.

There are always cute background girls.Anyway, Wako knows she'll get wet at some point so she prepares ahead of time for all eventualities, and has a towel and a spare dry outfit.Niikura discovers that Wako is an award-winning photographer, her idol, and asks to apprentice with her. Wako was prepared for that too. Despite her genius, she is not very good at teaching.
The mangaka is still having a hard time after nearly being run over Nagumo. Apparently Sweet Olive Manor isn't too far from the Mont Blanc campus, which would make sense.

Nagumo thinks she'll get some money if she models for such a talented, award-winning photographer, until she finds out Wako donated all her prize money. Wako doesn't need money, after all. She's just having fun and fun is free.
Nagumo is struggling to find the thing she wants to do with her life, and wants it to be the most fun thing. She might be able to learn from Wako who always has so much fun doing everything. But Nagumo lets her need for money override everything else. Perhaps this is an area for her to have personal growth.Meanwhile Niikura, who is more goal-oriented and focused, wants to improve specifically at her photography and anything else she does. The lesson she learns from Wako is that it's also important to have fun doing it, that the enjoyment makes the end result better, and makes one more open to the opportunities that come along randomly.Also horse racing is a thing in the CITY. I wonder if that will come up again...
I love Arama-san so much, you guys.So it's interesting that this is where the miniskirt gets selected as the lucky item, despite that appearing in the already-published CITY Magazine last episode. There are other clues throughout the series that the individual scenes across the series are sometimes shown out of order, though these tend to be less obvious. Or maybe the lucky item was just the miniskirt twice in a row.Anyway, I'm rooting for Arama-san and so should you.

There's been a poster up with "PAN" on it all season long. Nagumo really ought to notice that, and remember it. Might be important later...The one thing Niikura likes more than broccoli is empty carbohydrates.
I like the little details, like the CITY Magazine cover girl reacting to being thrown on the ground.
Anyway, Niikura and Nagumo sleep together again, in a closet.

Niikura is a person with a great deal of personal pride and shame. She likes for people around her to see her as somebody who's got it all together, is confident and cute and all that. But it's really just an act, cover for a great deal of insecurity.

Mio seems to have hurt her hand and can't draw. We see many of the same sorts of artifacts littering the Makabe family restaurant in her room.I wonder who the other two people are. Do mangakas work in an office together? Are those supposed to be roommates? Why isn't she all alone, like Kamaboko?

>>289330078no, mangaka don't really work in offices, they're not salaried office workers like that, they're technically freelance contract workers so the publisher doesn't have to give them a salary or benefits or anything like that, and they tend to work from home, the others there would likely be the assistants that work under them doing menial tasks like inking, or applying screentones, to get experience and some money while trying to become published mangaka themselves.
When they choose to do shading, it's usually pretty great. Definitely stands out a lot more because of how rare it is.
Phillips-chan finds her coin. It's a good thing she never gave up. Perseverance is a lesson Niikura should learn. Someday she might lose something and want to find it, too.

Overall, a good second episode. I had more laughs than the first. In particular the punchline of "just kidding!" was great after the mangaka and editor were so bad in episode 1, and the post-credit Niikura demons were another highlight. Ecchan and Masturi were probably the strongest segment however. Shame there's some impending tragedy that Matsuri doesn't know about yet.It was good to get the Mont Blanc Trio together finally, and we got some deep lore about the relationship between the Niikura and Nagumo. Wako is a bit of a weirdo.Arama-san is cute, and it was nice to see and hear Mio again.Worst bit for me was the soccer team. Sorry Tatewaku, I just can't get invested in your story yet. But there is still time.
