What happened?Plenty of isekai take a season off to larp as Zero no Tsukaima. MT did it, Slime did it. These are usually bad seasons even by isekai standards. It's jarring to see Clevatess go here. Season 1 bucked most modern fantasy trends; it was a dark fantasy and it felt ambitious. Magic school swings about as hard in the other direction as you could go. Mangachads, is there hope?

Moreover each "season" of Slime so far was 24 episodes long. So... just take your meds.

>>289327296It's not 7 episodes, but ~5 at most with half of it in side-content, and the protagonist is a teacher of 5 isolated children whose fate he "inherited" from the granny he uses as his skinsuit whim whom he has almost no school-life screentime with. It's not the protagonist being a student seated in the second-from-the-back seat right next to the window in a regular class of 20-something students for the entire series.But even if you somehow disregarded all that and really assumed it was 7 episodes, it still wouldn't be a cour (~12), much less a Slime season (24). If you want to see something that TRULY gets utterly ruined by school shit, try the Light Novel Miss Savage Fang. I have never seen something relatively promising shit the bed SO hard as this LN did just from changing the setting to a school.

But anime has an unusual tendency to copy/paste that western fantasy books do not have. It felt a little weird. In S1 magic seemed to be a really rare thing among humans. We see the Hidean royal family and their inherited magic, plus a few barely human wizards with implanted stones. And now there's a whole school?
