What are your favorite anime genres? Mine are romcoms because they make me believe in real love.

Why do you need com in your rom
>>
>>289330379
because it's funny
>>
Most rom coms aren't even funny and if they are it's the same reused jokes over and over again
>Indirect kiss
>AIIIIIEE you want to use our first names??????? That's too inappropriate
>MC is too oblivious and can't see all the signs that the one or multiple girls are into him
I can go on too

I like urban fantasy, especially the heavily punk inspired stuff like Boogiepop. Even Haruhi falls under the umbrella of this most impressive of genres. Shakugan no Shana, Bakemonogatari and everything like it such as Bunnygirl and Otome to Kamikakushi, Durarara, pretty much everything from CLAMP. Lost Decade influenced urban fantasy is the peak of anime.

I know what you feel. But take into account that good comedy is really hard to write and it's much easier just to write some adventure series, romance or drama because you know what ingredient you need while when it comes to comedy it's about feels, good idea, pacing and execution. Drama can be felt both in the written form and on the screen while jokes are funnier when they're told and/or shown. But the thing is execution often falls flat and it destroys the joke that in other conditions would've worked.

The comedy in romantic comedy just means it has a happy ending. It doesn't mean like stand up comedy

Loli cgdct
Ojisan needs some wholesomeness in his life

Shonen, because I like seeing strong people get stronger

Unironically isekai.
Which should be ironic because I'm extremely exigent about my media and nothing is ever good enough, but here's the trick/problem: Isekai is the only genre of anime which has no limit to its potential.
Yep, that's it, it's really that simple.
It can be good, it can be bad, some things can be very good, some things can be absolute fucking trash.

What else promises this sort of gamble? What other genre could ever be something that wasn't done before?
I mean I love MHA but how different is it from yuyu hakusho or dragon ball? Shounen nowadays especially is basically 'yo just take naruto and shake things up haha'
Romcom? Where's the new stuff? I loved Takagi because it was fresh and new... and it's not anymore and now there's dozens of those everywhere and none of them can be original and/or original for long.

I'd love fantasy if japs were capable of creating fantasy, sadly they all just do dragon quest with another slab of paint (and then it just becomes isekai without the japanese bath/cuisine references)

I like slice of life and whatever the fuck NHK counts as

Mecha with relatable characters.
>>
Yeah romcoms. I really need them right now.
>>
Comedy, Mystery, and CGDCT are my favorites, but I am not very picky about genres.
>>289331440
They often aren't very romantic either.
>>
I like office romance since I'm old.
