Let's discuss Hellsing 2001.I thought the ending was really weird and vague, though some parts of the Alucard vs. Incognito fight were good. The show never revealing who was creating the artificial vampires was also really unsatisfying, and Integra herself apparently being the traitor did not make any sense at all.
>>289348452>cool artstyle>awesome aesthetic>banger soundtrack>kino opening and ending themes>numerous references to classic vampire literature and folkloreI love the anime and its noir/thriller vibe, I also really like the characters' designs, for me, Integra and Seras are much prettier in this version. The whole concept of Incognito is also very interesting, not only because it's a reference to Nosferatu, but the fact that he's a vampire from the African continent sent to destroy London and England is, at the very least, poetic. My only complaint, despite the vague ending, is that I still think they could have made better use of Anderson, they could have included him in the fight with the SAS ghouls in the last few episodes. Using him with that amazing VA for only two episodes was a fucking crime. But anyway, to me Hirano is a fag for not liking the anime.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0d3IAcuUxM
>>289349555They remembered Anderson's existence and didn't even let him do anything during the final fight
Why is he cross eyed?
>>289348452>Integra herself apparently being the traitor did not make any sense at all.She was framed by Incognito's master, iirc.
>>289349903They should have had him obliterating a fleet of ghouls while Seras goes to meet Alucard at the Bloody Tower. A brief fight between him and Incognito would be cool too, even if it was just for him to get beaten up by a vampire again. What a waste.
>>289349555It's certainly a lot better than it had any right to be, because otherwise Hellsing with censored blood and nerfed fight scenes is like a pizzs without a topping or a sandwich without filling. All of what you mentioned + the voice cast and Konaka's writing and scripts really carried what would of otherwise been just a dime a dozen budget adaptation.
>>289350344Where was there censored blood?
>>289350461The ghouls turn to dust instead of bleeding and... that's all, I guess
>>289350847There was the scene during Walter's first fight during the brothers' attack, with a hilarious closeup of his face being splattered with white liquid from all directions. It might have been the TV version only, though.>>289349555>African continentI always assumed "dark continent" was just chuuni randomness, that never occurred to me.
>>289348452The anime is a cult classic and I'm not going to elaborate shit.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yetBsgViVvM
>>289351129My man Incognito is from madagascar

>>289351776That's the one, yeah, at 1:16.>>289351596SHUTDOWN EVERYTHING
>>289349555You gotta be kidding or too high on copium or be a duckling because nothing of what you wrote was in TV Hellsing:>>cool artstyleand the shot ran of budget right with first few eps>>awesome aestheticsimply first-of-kind vampire\zombie show>>banger soundtrackshit cheap improvisation like in A Kite>>kino opening and ending themesmehwith everything of TV's soundtrack is surpassed by any of OVA's cds creating of which involved real professional orchestra >>numerous references to classic vampire literature and folkloreLmao even.Mind me again, what was the connection between key of Alucard's existence and fighting some green alien?
>>289350461Pretty much all the blood from the manga was was either turned into dust or colored black. A likely inevitability when dealing with broadcast restrictions, but it is a shame since Hirano drew such beautiful gore and splatter in the manga.
>>289351940I fucking love Ultimate but you are a fucking faggot for dissing Yasushi Ishiihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h92yZAi4WLo
>>289351942001's soundtrack is fucking awesome to listen to, it is not "meh" or "shit cheap improvisation"
>>289349976NO
>>289348452is Incognito thousands of years old?
>>289348452>I thought the ending was really weird and vague, though some parts of the Alucard vs. Incognito fight were good. The show never revealing who was creating the artificial vampires was also really unsatisfyingThe anime became what it was because it caught up to the manga and had to invent stuff.>and Integra herself apparently being the traitor did not make any sense at all.I don't remember her being the traitor. She gets treated and charged as a traitor because of the events that happen, but that's a different thing.>>289349555Fully agree.
>>289351940>what was the connection between key of Alucard's existence and fighting some green alien?Well, in this version Alucard is both the real Dracula and Bram Stoker's Dracula, while Incognito is his Count Orlok, a "literally who" that manages to be just as influential/powerful as him. There's not much to think about this.
>>289349903I think that they were hoping to get a second season and wanted to set him up for there.
>>289351940He's right about the vampire stuff references. The baobhan sith true identity is Carmila, and she uses the name "Laura," which is the main character of the same novel. Integra even mentions the name Countess Karnstein in this episode. In this version, Seras' character is also equivalent to Mina Harker, and all the hallucinations and nightmares that Seras and Integra experience throughout the anime are also part of vampire mythology. There's the Incognito=Nosferatu thing too. There are a few more things here and there if you look carefully.
>>289352941Probably. Besides being a vampire, he is also a sorcerer.
The better vampire hunter
