I haven't had a chance to see the new episode yet, but one thing I've been wondering since the last episode: is Elizabeth's dad actually retarded? Obviously he's a cold guy without much fatherly sentiment, but just from a purely pragmatic, political standpoint, having a member of the family married to the crown prince, the future king, is a big enough deal that a nobleman with any degree of pride, ambition or interest in his family's future should've fought tooth and nail for that engagement. Even beyond that, a noble house just taking that kind of humiliation lying down seems dumb as fuck. It's particularly dumb when the king himself was all ready to get back home and fix the mess and the dad was just actively opposed to that, like, "oh no King-sama, please, it's fine to take a big fat shit on the reputation and prestige of our house, in fact we welcome it, no need to get angry". I get that he expected Elizabeth to handle things, but even so, just basically not reacting at all to something that should be a huge deal in ways that go way beyond Elizabeth's personal future makes the dad seem both weak and stupid.

What I don't get is that they already make their own soap, so they have staff members that are aware of what a proper soap formula should look like. Why wouldn't they say "ey boss, this recipe looks a bit fishy..." instead of just producing it with no questions asked?

I like that they set up the fact that she was paying the church to get in their good favors on purpose as insurance, actual good setup and payoff. That's pretty rare for these kinds of shows.
