Now that the dust has settled after 10 years, what are your thoughts on the series' original conclusion?
>>289353074Should've been a 24 episode mostly focused on the Future arc with some flashbacks showing the new characters interacting with the DR1 and 2 cast. The Despair arc only served as fan service for DR2 fans and to ruin most of Danganronpa mythos with the fucking despair anime.
Kyoko is the most bland and boring DR girl and I have no idea why she's so popular with people. In fact all DR1 characters are complete nothing burgers except maybe Byakuya and Celeste because both of them are retarded and only pretending to be smart.

There's no conflict, they just lost all agency and are innocent cute patooties and have been all along. There's also the fact DR2 stated the characters killed in-game would probably stay comatose for a long time, maybe forever, but well would you look at that, they're all fully awake and recovered in like a week. Ruined plot and stakes so much the next game had to just decanonize the whole series and then itself.However I gooned through all the Asahina and Kirigiri scenes so I forgive most of that. 7/10

The hypnosis was stupid for so many reasons and the future arc was just sorta lame.Also pic related. I'm pissed the entire DR2 cast is just fine. I know DR2 ended with the possibility that they might be okay on a case-by-case basis, gotta have Hope for the Future and all that, but to then confirm outright that ALL of them are just a-okay without issue is fucking dumb. At least Chiaki stayed dead.

The only good part of that bot he'd abortion of a series was the weekly watch party threads on /a/, and collectively flipping out with everyone about how fucking shit everything was. The memes were pretty good, too.
I have long since forgotten some of the nuances of the situation, but this was one of the first works from after Kodaka and Uchikoshi had befriended each other. While Uchikoshi isn't credited, you can tell that the killing game mechanics were derived from conversations the two must have had. The sleeping drug injections also appear in a work Uchikoshi had made at the time. It's not clear how much of the influence the two have on each other is a good thing. I never played V3. 2 was already a step in the wrong direction, too wacky for it's own good and then jumped the shark with the matrix shit at the end, and V3 looked like it doubled down on that. Was that the right call?
