Ever since then the whole premise has been about Rudeus relationship with his past life. The author gets way more blatant about this later, and at times it almost seems preachy. Personally, I think the author went too far at times, like having the Ars/Aisha arc just to have Rudeus talk to every character in the cast and have them explain to him that it's okay from their perspective and they don't understand why he's so mad only for him to eventually realize that the reason is because he hates himself for the shit he did in his past life and views Aisha's actions as similar to his own
