>>289390628a shitload of milennials happened to see this when they were growing up just at the right time so it imprinted on them. also it helps that it's one of the only pieces of media in existence that got a remake that legitimately addressed flaws in the original and made it better. personally i don't find it really compelling, the original was such dogshit i dropped it completely, brotherhood was good enough for me to finish and i'll say it's a solid 8/10 just because some of the characters were so fun (although the elrics themselves were pretty boring.)
