I think the umbrella represents society and rain represents the falling out of the social order. Miko, Taiki, and Mayu are all resigned from society so they get wet in the rain, characters like Momiji and Roka stay together to play their role in society as a couple, when Miko just runs off, it's like he's showing off his freedom. The intersting thing is Makita's umbrella is broken, meaning, she's a freak like Mikoma as well, but she's playing her part as the freak so she still has her umbrella, in a sense Mikoma is more free than she is.
