To make matters worse, despite being around since day 1 he never even got any noteworthy fights or confrontations (the dumb zombies chasing a bunch of jobbers don't count). The first time he got a glimpse of some independent character development was when he concluded he wants Alluka all to himself and we learned he's very greedy and power-hungry, but we never saw anything concerning his ambition afterward. So yeah, it's the same treatment - not much to say about the character except their potential.
