It IS overrated, but the intended effect actually functions in full-auto, as you get this cumulative effect of the tracked weight recoiling downwards over and over, helping keep the gun level. In semi-auto, however, you just cannot shoot fast enough for that effect to actually do anything at all.

Does that justify the gun's existence? I don't know, I'm still not sold on that idea, a fully in-line action like the AR15 does is a more practical approach to recoil control, but a world with nothing but AR15s would be boring, so I can't complain at them for trying something different and putting it out there.

Some of the over-rating of it I think comes from how lot of people don't actually understand how the Kriss Vector actually functions. I've seen a surprising amount of people thinking that this is some kind of mechanically delayed action, and that you could just scale this up for 5.56mm NATO or 7.62mm NATO through some bolt mass and some tweaks on leverage, but you absolutely could not.
This is a completely unlocked and completely un-delayed blowback action, it just uses some of the movement energy in an unconventional manner.
