>The 8-member idol group Cutie Street will be appearing as guest voice actors in the Pocket Monsters TV show on August 28th (airs on the TV Tokyo Network at 6:55pm). Not only do they handle the ending theme Cute na Cutai, now they'll also try being the voice actors for the Pikachu idol group "Cutie Pikapika" that's going to appear in the show. We talked to the 8 members of Cutie Street right after the dubbing session, asking them about behind-the-scenes details as well as their personal feelings regarding Pokémon.
>>289501467>Q: We can imagine this was the first time many of you tried voice acting. Be honest, how do you feel now that the dubbing session is over?Kana Itakura: I was so incredibly nervous! While this was my first time voice acting in this manner, I'm a huge anime fan and watch a ton of shows, so learning how all the voice actors actually work made a really strong impression on me. The nervousness I felt was completely different from the kind I feel at our concerts; My heart was just racing like crazy. I was also worried that I wasn't even producing a voice at all, but the Cutie Pikapika I was seeing on the screen were so incredibly cute they helped calm me down.>Q: Did all of them have lines?Itakura: Yeah, we all sang what sounded like "Pika Pika". We've never said "Pika Pika" so much in our lives (laughs). I also had some moments of realization in terms of how the sound director was thinking, like when he told us that since Pikachu are small, we should be perceiving humans as bigger than we were currently doing, and while my heart was pounding with nervous excitement the entire time, I really enjoyed the experience.Ayano Masuda: This was my first time doing any kind of voicework as well, and it made me realize how incredibly difficult it is to get across the feel and emotions in a scene with just your and others' voices alone. The entire time I was so nervous it felt like my heart itself was shaking and rolling back and forth, and I even still feel a little nervous despite the session being over... The characters we got to voice were the popular celebrities Cutie Pikapika, and the voice director likewise told us to voice them like they're making everyone happy, so I delivered my lines with the heartfelt desire for both Cutie Street in the real world and Cutie Pikapika in the anime world to shine brightly.
>>289501484Nagisa Manabe: I was really nervous too, to the point of trembling (laughs). The studio was similar to those we often see at auditions and the like, so I was nervous from the moment I walked in. I don't normally say the word "Pikachu" a whole lot either, so I thought it was really hard to express feelings of happiness and such using just that word. The nervousness didn't exactly help. All 8 of us got to voice act together though, so we had a lot of fun, especially with all the encouragement we got from the sound director.Emiru Kawamoto: I was shaking like a leaf and my heart felt like it was about to leap out of my chest. When I was little I didn't really like my own voice very much, but ever since I became an idol I've started thinking it might not be so bad after all. I'm also a big anime fan, so I've also hoped I'd get the chance to do a gig like this one day, and I'm really happy I was given such a wonderful opportunity. The fact that we not only got to be portrayed in the show by such amazing Pokémon as the Pikachu from the Pokémon anime I've been watching ever since I was little, but also got to actually voice them ourselves, just feels like a dream come true. I still can't imagine what it's actually going to be like!Aika Sano: I sometimes auditioned for voice actor roles back when I did theater, so the studio felt very familiar to me when I first walked in. I felt really excited, but also really nervous. I still can't quite believe that we've been given this invaluable opportunity to actually appear in the Pokémon anime as voice actors.
>>289501502Risa Furusawa: It wasn't until I received the script for the episode that it truly hit me that this was actually happening. I had to convey facial expressions, cheerfulness and joy with nothing more than the word "Pikachu", which I found incredibly fascinating due to how different it is from how I express myself as an idol, and I had a lot of fun doing this.Haruka Sakuraba: While I was incredibly nervous, it made me really happy to experience first-hand how anime is created. I'm a big fan of both anime and Pokémon, so this was a really emotional experience for me, and since I've already been really interested in voice acting, I'm really happy I got to try it personally as part of Cutie Street. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished episode.Miyu Umeda: I had a lot of fun as well. Before we came to the studio, I had been looking at the script and wondering what this was all going to be like, but it wasn't until I entered the studio and saw all the people as well as the animated footage itself that it really hit me that Cutie Street were actually going to be Pocket Monsters voice actors. I think it's absolutely incredible that my first ever voice acting gig is in Pocket Monsters, and I'm really grateful for this amazing opportunity. I feel like this is something I'll always be able to take pride in even after this anime is complete.
>>289501523>Q: How did you feel when you first learned you wouldn't just be doing the ending theme, but also appear in the anime itself as voice actors?Sano: I just couldn't believe it was true at first (laughs). We all got completely astonished when we were told they were going to create Cutie Pikapika.Furusawa: I was already super happy they were doing the CD, so this news really came as a shock.>Q: Did you discover any sides to the other members of the group you didn't know about during the dubbing session?Masuda: There was a scene they had us dub as two groups of four, and it was so incredibly cute and precious seeing the others say "Pi-ka-chu" with their entire bodies. There was also another scene where the characters were talking to each other by saying Pi-ka-chu; I was playing against Emiru in that scene, and it eventually got to the point I could actually understand what she was saying (laughs).Kawamoto: We were talking for so long, weren't we? Like "You have butterflies too, don't you?"Masuda: "I'm so nervous!" "But let's do our best, okay?" (laughs)Umeda: When I was watching the other group of four dub that one scene, I noticed their bodies were all instictively swaying left and right at the same time (laughs). It was really inspiring to see how in sync they were. Oh, and I also got to have a conversation with Paru in Pikachu-speak.Sakuraba: I had absolutely no idea what I was saying, though (laughs).>Q: (Laughs)
>>289501537>Q: How did you feel when you first saw the ending theme Cute na Cutai on-screen with visuals and all?Manabe: Liko and Roy were both dancing! I had watched the anime, so that really surprised me; To think that the characters from the show would actually be performing these moves. That's what made the biggest impact on me.Sakuraba: Experiencing the song with visuals added, lots of dancing and Pokémon everywhere felt completely different from just listening to the song on its own. It felt like I got to see yet another side of Cute na Cutai, and the fact that it actually airs on TV as part of an anime makes me so happy it seriously feels unbelievable. I feel so emotional every single time the episode ends and the ending starts playing.
>>289501556>Q: Pokémon continues to be a beloved franchise among every generation all over the world. Exactly why do you think people find it so appealing?Itakura: I think Pokémon is something that connects people even if they've never met before at all. Just the other day I was talking about Pokémon with some people we were working with on a shoot in Korea, and when I mentioned we got to do a Pokémon ending, they immediately went "I love the Pokémon Card Game" and "The ending is amazing". It made me think about how Pokémon connected us even though we were from both different generations and different countries. Not only that, but it truly makes me happy that I now get to be professionally involved with the very Pokémon that have always been there with me ever since I was little, and that we've grown, or rather, evolved together. They're always there for me, and they're so cute; A comforting presence in my life.
>>289501568Kawamoto: I don't think it matters whether they first watched it as a child or as an adult, everyone are going to end up wanting Pokémon!Everyone: EVERYONE! (laughs)Kawamoto: Whenever I watch Pokémon, I really do end up wanting Pokémon of my own. Wanting a partner. I want to raise it, and I think seeing it fight will make anyone fired up, regardless of age or sex. I really like Hogator, and I get seriously passionate when I watch scenes where it's fighting, cheering it on in my mind. I used to get excited while watching Pokémon when I was little too, but watching it as an adult makes me able to understand what's going on on a deeper level. That lets me start to empathize with the Pokémon more and more, which makes seeing them battle or going on adventures together really rouse my emotions. And before I know it, I end up really wanting one of my own (laughs)! I think there's all kinds of people around the world, whether they like the Pokémon anime, the video games or the Pokémon Card Game, that find Pokémon soothing to simply look at, think of them as cute, or as cool. And I think THAT might be the reason they've been beloved all over the world for so long.
>The 8-member idol group Cutie Street will be appearing in the Pocket Monsters TV show on August 28th (airs on the TV Tokyo Network at 6:55pm) as guest voice actors for the Pikachu idol group "Cutie Pikapika". In this second half of our interview with them, we talked about the bond the eight of them now have two years after their debut, the group's strong points and what Pokémon they think the others remind them of, and also asked them about their future goals as they prepare to take on the world.
>>289501592>Q: Cutie Pikapika is a group that works really well together. Have you had any recent experiences where you felt you only succeeded because of who you are as a group?Aika Sano: During our recent concert at Ariake Arena, things sometimes got pretty hectic backstage, but the fact that the eight of us were in it together was very reassuring and made me feel like a fighter. That concert was also made available online, and watching it at home afterwards allowed me to see it from an angle we rarely get to see concerts from. An outsider perspective like that once again reminded me of how amazing an atmosphere the eight of us create; It didn't even feel like it was us up there on the stage, that's how moving it was. I feel like part of our appeal is how our friendship shines through during our concerts.Risa Furusawa: In our private lives, the eight of us often wear similar clothes and like the same kind of things, and we've really come to learn each others' interests and preferences over the nearly two years we've been together. It's almost like we're dating each other (laughs). I think the way we keep getting to know each other better is another great aspect of our group.
>>289501603>Q: What do you feel is the one way you've grown the most as a group since your debut?Miyu Umeda: I think getting to perform at Pia Arena MM for our first anniversary really made us grow. At the time, that was a massive venue and a massive task to undertake for us. We did a ton of rehearsals and a lot of preparation, and it ended up being an absolutely massive concert, so I think that entire process and performance was a moment that allowed us to really grow. After the concert, we immediately started talking about where we wanted to perform next, so I think we really did grow a lot as a group at that point.Ayano Masuda: We've all grown a lot since then, but so has the sense of unity we feel with our fans during our concerts, and it makes me incredibly happy how much growth there is in Team Cutie Street as a whole, both among us group members and all the Cutest, as well as the staff that's constantly supporting us. Back when we were first starting out, we struggled a lot with how to liven up our concerts, and the way our concerts have kept evolving since then, with how the fans have found their own ways to enjoy themselves, cheer us on and showing us lots of support, makes me feel like we've all managed to progress further together every time I stand on stage. I think this is the one area where we've really grown, and I hope the entire team can continue to grow further.
>>289501617>Q: All Pokémon have their own idiosyncracies; What do you think the appeal and strengths of Cutie Street are?Haruka Sakuraba: I think part of our appeal lies in how incredibly close we are, and how it comes through in our performances and the many videos we make. We've also heard from our fans how fun we are to watch because it's so evident how good friends we are, so I think that's something that really draws people in. I also think we're very good at pulling off different concepts; Cutie Street has lots of cute songs, cool songs and upbeat songs, and I think a huge part of our appeal is how well we handle them all.>Q: Is there anything specific you keep in mind to ensure you stay such good friends?Sakuraba: I've always felt that we're all very mild-mannered and talk nicely to each other. There's rarely any harsh language being used, so I think things are going to remain just fine.Nagisa Manabe: I think the reason we're so close is because we all just naturally care a lot about each other; We're not consciously trying to be nice, it's just how we genuinely are as people. While it does depend somewhat on the situation, we're the kind of people that are capable of accepting our limitations instead of forcing ourselves, and I think our relationship is, above all else, built on mutual respect rather than us walking on eggshells around each other. That, I think, is the secret to why we've always been such good friends, and I think that's the appeal of our team.
>>289501632>Q: Do you think any of the other members resemble a specific Pokémon, and if so, why?Emiru Kawamoto: Aika Sano is Hogator!Sano: Your partner!Kawamoto: Aika's color is red, which resembles Hogator's color, and she has these stars in her eyes that really resemble the way Hogator's eyes light up when it looks at Lizardon with admiration. She also eats a lot, and Hogator is a huge glutton. Their expressions when they eat are nearly identical. She also often has this blank stare on her face when we're all talking together, like she doesn't understand what's being talked about, and that look is just totally Hogator. They both look and act the same way.>Q: She sure sounds like she's practically a Hogator.Kawamoto: I want a Hogator myself, so I constantly ask her to imitate one for me.Kana Itakura: I think Ayano resembles Kuwassu in terms of personality and Emonga in terms of looks!Masuda: What?! Seriously?Itakura: Her facial proportions are identical to Emonga's. And while she goofs around a lot, she's also the kind of girl who can make you laugh just by being herself; While it might not be on purpose, that's the kind of character Kuwassu is as well. She's so cute and precious.Kawamoto: She also puts a lot of effort into styling her bangs. Kuwassu is really obsessed about its hair too, isn't it?
>>289501648>Q: Now that you've done a collaboration with something as globally renowned as the Pokémon anime, what kind of future do you envision for yourselves?Itakura: Since this is about our common goals, allow me to answer this on behalf of the group. This year, the goal we all share is to perform at the Kouhaku Utagassen. This is something we always say during our huddle before our concerts, like a lucky charm. We've also talked about how we wanted to do an arena tour this year, and now that's actually going to happen! We want to do our best to ensure it's going to be a success and to show everyone how much more we've evolved.>Q: You're also expanding your reach overseas as well, aren't you?Itakura: I would be so happy to get to do a concert at KSPO Dome in Korea at some point. It's still more of a dream or an aspiration at the moment, but we've had the opportunity to go to Korea a lot and become known to a lot of people there, so we want to keep working our hardest so that we'll one day be able to hold a concert at a large Korean venue as well!

>>289501284Is this Hanae's first role in Pokemon?
>>289505578First role in the Pokemon anime, but he's Grusha in Mastersex.
>>289505728Why do everyone have different vas in that game anyway?
>>289505766Different continuity, they want to make it clear these aren't ACTUALLY the same characters as the ones in the anime. They do the same with all the various Youtube miniseries and shit too.
>>289501284>>289501301Heh, Neroli actually looks quite a bit like Hanae, except fatter.
>>289506110I'd laugh if he mentions in an interview that that's the reason he got cast.
>>289476012>How much you want to bet that the Sleep episode get a higher rating than the Unite one?>Dot episodeIt's 100% happening.
>>289507134Since the Pokemon Go episode is supposed to be about Collecurei, that might be a Dot episode too.
>>289502627Navi is so goddamn fucking precious.
>>289509233Uruto is a lucky boy.
>>289504949They can skip it. Masters also has a fair amount of material at hand.
>>289505119>>289511862The Go crossover has already been teased both in the OP and on the key visual, bit too late to cancel any plans now.
Pokemon Sleep still sounds like a ridiculous concept to me.
>>289513171It's just a sleep monitor with some video game aspects primarily oriented around building a collection.
>>289502006Yeah, it used to be on screen all the time too, Laudbon isn't even in every episode anymore.
>>289516116Made for hugs and headpats.
>>289517257
All these cute Navis soothe the soul.
>>289516116>>289517257Kawaii

>>289519162Damn, that's actually a really cool design.
Is there really that much Pokemon Sleep-inspired merch they can do 4 different giveaways?
>>289519353It's probably just Kabigon merch they're associating with Sleep because that's the game's mascotmon.
>>289518802More Loliko when?
>>289519697We should get an episode about Dot and Liko bonding with Navi by telling her what they were like at her age, complete with flashbacks.
Don't open
>>289520337Liko, that's a CAT
>>289520465That's a cat and a hat!
>>289520516>there's a doujin based on picrel nowNice
>>289520337The cat I have in my room is like this. The others though, are like Floragato
>>289517530I think Navi got fanart at a faster rate than Dot did after each character's debut
>>289520465
>>289501603>Aika Sano: During our recent concert at Ariake ArenaI looked it up, and that concert was on June 17th, so they must've dubbed this episode very recently.
>>289521122They probably dubbed it right before the announcement, it would explain why they revealed it so early.
>>289501892>>289502006I miss it so much.
>>289501700Are we getting info on episode 145 today? We usually get news on Tuesdays.
>>289501930Dot is finally getting the respect she deserves.
>>289522375I think it's still a bit too far away for the weekly TV guides to have anything.
>>289522375>>289522524There's a monthly guide releasing on Wednesday. It will probably have something.
https://x.com/anipoke_PR/status/2079446273455988800>Pokémon Anime Trivia:>Yorunozuku: It can concentrate even faint light, enabling it to see in the dark. In episode 143, Metamon chose to Transform into Yorunozuku before flying off to Miare City at night in order to bring the Dream Ball to Navi.
>>289523567God damn I love how this thing looks when transformed.
>>289523686Our girl speaks the truth.
>>289523778She really does. You just know she loved this scene >>289523686
>>289503326We see them making the curry in the OP too.
>>289501648>Kana Itakura: I think Ayano resembles Kuwassu in terms of personality and Emonga in terms of looks!>Her facial proportions are identical to Emonga's.Well anons, what do you say?
>>289524575
>>289524575>>289524583There's definitely a slight resemblance there, but I wouldn't say the proportions are identical.
>>289524575That blob has an impressive harem.
>>289524781This is from before he met his loliwife.
>>289524583I kinda see what she means, she has really puffy cheeks, making her face pretty circular.
>>289524970
>>289524468>Uruto is getting bullied again This episode is going to be good.
>>289524977Cute 'monga
Cute and gay
>>289525745Dot is a needy girl.
>>289526115If Liko didn't want to be looked at like that, she'd dress differently.
>>289526115The fruits of Paldea
>>289520516>>289520593Well, where can I get it?
>>289526688Next Comicon. Artist posted a preview though.
>>289520516>sleeveless shirtGive us that in the anime already!
>>289501617Do they call themselves the Cutest? Cute.
>>289527235Cutest is the name of the Cutie Street fanbase, I believe.
>>289525745
>>289527606Cute and gay.

>>289530134They're winning the world!
>>289530134Cute and gay
This week's Nicolive ratings. Surprisingly low rating for Pokemon, let's see if Navi can't do better next time.
>>289531942Precure is absolutely unbeatable, damn.
>>289532070It got beaten by quite a few shows during the winter, actually.
>>289525865So is Liko >>289532202
>>289532704Hope we get an episode where Navi plays dressup with Dot.
>>289527435Yeah, it is.
>>289522478Dot with all the side characters
>>289536505And me.
>>289530134They got official animanga there? Nice.
>>289501284I guess we'll get a bunch of interviews with him and such over this week to promote that episode.
