Is the monitor anime original? Why isn't Yokoya watching that like a hawk?
It's interesting how Yokoya doesn't form M ticket contracts like Fukunaga. I'm sure he knew it was an option, but I guess he didn't want to teach his subjects that.

I'm surprised bandana guy feels that he is partly responsible for the smuggling scheme that was presumably devised by Yokoya. It would be smarter of Yokoya to instead share responsibility with his operators. After all, Yokoya is partly responsible for not considering this possibility and misdirecting his team. I think he could do this without relaxing his iron grip.
Then again, I suppose these games are less about forming a competent group and more about merely controlling the group. Maybe it is preferable to have the team completely prioritise deference to Yokoya rather than also have another priority of winning the game.

Very nice comparison between Nao and Yokoya. Although she seems troublesome, I'd much rather live in a country that aims to follow Nao's example than Yokoya's one.

>>289513387
You're on a whole other level of speedwatching. It's already been confirmed in a past flashback that his family is rich, and he entered the tournament as a representative of someone else, like Akiyama and Fukunaga, so there were no previous rounds for him.

No, Yokoya is from a rich family. He's in the game to make himself richer and for fun.

You have to take money but if you have more money you win but you also lose but losing your money makes you win but if the other side loses harder than you win than you win instead and thus become the biggest loser.
>>
>>289519251
There are four ATMs, two for each team. Per team, one ATM is in the enemy team's territory and one is in a neutral third-party territory. Whichever team has the most money in their neutral ATM "wins" at the end of the game. Whatever money is leftover in the enemy territory's ATM at the end of the game goes to the enemy. Yokoya's strategy is to lose the game officially, but still make bank by claiming the money Nao's team couldn't smuggle.
>>
>>289519251
Each guy has 300m they need to clear through customs. Any remaining money unsmuggled goes to opposing team at the end of the game.

Yoyoka's team has successfully tricked Akiyama's team into taking all their money so now Akiyama is trying to counterscam them into taking that money back + the rest of their ATM balance.

Think of it this way:
You have a stock of "potential money." This money becomes yours if you smuggle it, but becomes the other team's if you don't smuggle it by the end of the game.
Yokoya took all his team's "potential money" and gave it to Akiyama, via the retards on Akiyama's team. The retards are like "yay! think of the potential!" but it's more than they can actually smuggle, so it's all going to turn into Yokoya's money.

Now in this episode, Akiyama lies to one of the guys on Yokoya's team that the transaction didn't go through, so Yokoya's team still have their entire pile of "potential money" and no way to smuggle it.
Mind you, it's dumb for the guy to believe this, because if it were true Akiyama would have no reason to tell him. But he's a retard plus he's terrified of what Yokoya will do to him for fucking up.
>>
That's the plan I was talking about last week, Akiyama bluffing that they didn't actually deposit the money. That's a pretty fucking vicious blind spot in that tactic they were planning to use. Honestly it's genius.
>>
>>289520046
okay that helps a little
so the ideal winning condition is a full ATM in your country, and a full account, and the other country having an empty ATM and... the account doesn't matter
so an empty ATM in the other country is all that really matters?

Long post incoming

>Forgetting about "winning" or "losing" the game, which doesn't describe your actual earnings at all, from a money standpoint alone, as a player you've got to make 400 millions to get back to 0 (no debt)

>You already start with 100 millions in the third country actually, so you only really have to make 300 millions.

>You have these 300 millions in the enemy country. Smuggle them all through the border and you've achieved your personal 400 millions goal! But once you're out of those 300 millions (let's say the customs successfully took it from you), you don't really have money to smuggle and achieve your 400 millions goal. You're fucked, and unable to smuggle anything.

>On the other hand, every player from your team will get the enemy team money evenly divided at the end. So that's how you might be able to reach that 400 millions goal, even if you lose money while trying to smuggle your own money, hopefully you can also stop the enemy team from smuggling and take that money for your team.

>There's one small issue though, and that's how Yokoya got the three retards in the previous episode: that money you take from the other team is divided evenly for every member of your team. Wouldn't you prefer to have 1 billion to try to smuggle? Surely you'll be able to reach your 400 millions goal with it, right? It sounds appealing! For one player, that might not be a bad bet (although it's fucking with your team's earnings, your teammates are paying the price of giving you this personal "potential" money to smuggle).

>Except... if too many people do it then it's way too much money to smuggle and even with that potential money in your personal account you'll be fucked alongside the rest of your team. Yokoya's team can just call doubt 100 million each turn and only pay a 50 million fee everytime, and they'll still win because there's SO MUCH money inside your ATM
>>
>>289520409
i'm still lost. i will literally have to re-watch it a 1/2 speed

>one round alone requires 7 billions lending investment. probably double that if you count venue, props, and all the red tapes
not all rich people are THAT rich, and even if he is why bother if someone willing to pay you for doing just the fun part?
>>
>>289520409
>>289520520
Basically the key is to understand it's a strict zero sum game, it's just that there's a distinction between PERSONALLY SMUGGLED MONEY (that is distributed to you, the money you put into the third country) and money remaining inside your country that you confiscated from the enemy team (distributed evenly to all of your team)

Both are important to the final reward of each player, but the first one hits you directly, while the second is diluted to all of your team players.

You might be confused because of the whole "winning and losing conditions". It's a second win criteria that goes beyond your earnings and debts: smuggling lots of money to the third country will give you good rewards which is your goal but it'll also contribute to your team winning (winners = total smuggled money to third country). And you don't want to actually win because dropping out of Liar Game is better.

So Akiyama and Yokoya came to the same conclusion, they don't need to smuggle to third country. They'd rather make sure they have a huge ATM full of other country money remaining inside their country. This way they can have positive earnings without smuggling to third country and drop out.

>It's interesting how Yokoya doesn't form M ticket contracts like Fukunaga.
because unlike fukunaga, yokoya has money
you don't need lame-ass contract when you can paid in cash. it's also don't give the idea for the losers to make contract among themselves. though by the end of it, yokoya surely accept contract since he got the money from the M tickets

>>289520603
okay so the other team took money from our team's ATM, and just straight out gave it to some on our team who put it in their personal accounts.
so even though some of our team now have tons of cash in their personal accounts, our ATM is empty. which is all that counts.
yeah. seems like it's good for the "idiots" on our team who were "tricked" but bad for everyone else. if only I could be "tricked" that hard
>>
>>289512072
>Is the monitor anime original?
It is, it's also interfering with the game. Bad bad bad idea from anime. For all intents and purposes, think of the customs room as a far away room you can kind of see from a distance without details.

>>289520741
>so even though some of our team now have tons of cash in their personal accounts, our ATM is empty. which is all that counts.
Yeah, basically now our country is getting 0 payout from the opponent country's ATM (since it's empty). All of their payout needs to come from smuggling, and they need to smuggle a good amount of money to get a >0 balance. You don't actually have to smuggle that much money if the two countries ATMs are somewhat balanced, but NOW you do

And now with the limited number of rounds, the enemy team has set up their mathematical victory by just limiting how much we can earn from smuggling. A mere 50 millions per round (by calling 100 millions doubt every time) means we wont be 100% bankrupt but we're still going to be in very bad debt by the end

>fact that both sides can watch each other should make this plan impossible.
yokoya's clairvoyant plan was possible because of the fact

So far, I'm enjoying it less than Tomodachi game
>>
>>289518572
These teams are quite far apart so you're supposed to think they can't QUITE read things well enough so make up something visually obvious like your screenshot. Although you have to also accept it's possible for them to signal to each other a hiding location through the glass using paper or maybe sign language. That doesn't sound very realistic but it's one element you have to accept as part of your suspension of disbelief.

>>289520875
Tomodachi game is trash though.
>>
>>289520893
Then this is worse than trash
>>
>>289520741
>seems like it's good for the "idiots" on our team
It's not good for them, either. They don't keep any of that money unless they successfully smuggle it, which is now impossible since Yokoya's team is doubting for 100M every round.

TL's fucked apparently

Yokoya actually rewarded that guy with a 10 millions payout, that's also how he got the rest of his guys in line. They actually believe it'll turn out >0 for them if they serve long enough
>>
>>289520254
no. there are several "winning" on this game depending on your priority
>to win the game (advanced to the next round), you need to have more money in your team total 3rd party ATM
>you want as much money in your 3rd party ATM since it's unarguably yours. though this is limited by your turn being the inspector, and even then you can't expect the smugglers to bring 100M everytime
the thing is, both teams don't actually want to advance to the next round. so having too much money on 3rd party account is actually detrimental for the team. which make losing the game as "actual win"
>we will assume that every money should be in one of 3 ATMs (country of day, country of night, 3rd party)
>for nao, ideal win would be having just the right amount of money in 3rd ATM for her team to lose while the rest of the money sit in the country of night
>for yokoya, ideal win would be having as much as possible money in HIS 3rd ATM while having just the right amount on his team to lose against country of day. the rest of the money ideally sit on country of day
>>
>>289521126
that's exactly what it said though?
10 millions in the black means you goy 10 millions payout. you might be confusing it with 10 millions in the red

Anon, imagine you're American and you have 300 million in a bank account in Russia, while a Russian anon has 300 million in America.
WW3 is about to start, and Putin is gonna steal all your money from your Russian account and give it all to Russianon. Meanwhile, Trump plans on stealing all of Russianon's money in his American account and give it to you.
So you're trying to take as much of your money out of Russia and into your Swiss account as you can before WW3 starts, while trying to keep as much of Russianon's money in America as you can so Trump can steal it for you. Russianon is doing the same in reverse.

Now imagine you're doing this as part of a competition, and whoever gets the most money in their Swiss account wins this round and gets to... participate in more gambling games (no thank you!)

So the master plan is to have less money in your Swiss account than Russianon has in his Swiss account, so you can "lose" the gambling game, while having more total money than him after Trump steals his money for you and Putin steals your money for him.

Tomodachi game doesn't feel very smart. Most of the games boiled down "I somehow saw through your plan and I manipulated a retard from your team so I won". Liar game at least created believeable and logical strategy
