Obviously you got Ghibli, CoMix Wave and Chizu but the anime original movie industry is pretty light on new contentWe've seen anime movies from established franchises like demon slayer/Jujutsu Kaisen do incredible at the box office so we at least know there's people in the western world and Asia who're willing to watch anime movies in theatre for big IP'sIt just seems like a market with missed potential still
Big budget original anime movies tend to flop hard
Anime movies not based on existing IPs are extremely risky, especially now. Look up those released in the last 10 years, 90% flopped and you probably haven't even heard of most of them.
There are plenty of new original movies every year, they just don't get marketed or translated for months after release if at all
the same reason any corporation does or doesn't do anythingmoney

>>289527794It's a dice roll, movie is too expensive for home marker but international market is the US(cartoons for kids) and China(censorship)
Live action adaptations of manga and anime are cheaper to make and earn more.
Because people still think anime is for kids, so they're not going to watch it. These days, only Shinkai and fotm shonen garbage are successful; both shallow options for normalfags. Even so, there are some other movies, although they're usually bad.
>>289528124I want to add that I am using BL Metamorphosis as am example because my normie female colleagues actually caught this one on Amazon or Netflix and they thought it was a K drama and loved it. Imagine Fujoshi becoming part of the American normie-zeitgeist thanks to a live action adaptation of a manga.
