Why was she so judgmental and cunty all the time?
It's not judgemental and cunty to hate the person sexually assaulting you all the time, fuck off Jinshit Maomao is /ourgirl/ and you're a retarded faggot.
>>289528507She's a woman. Next.
>>289528507She just makes honest appraisals of people. When Maomao compares a woman to being a whore, she's not meaning that as an insult. Most of her family are whores. Some of her best friends are whores. She knows what she's talking about.
>>289528966Not all women act like this. In fact most don't.
>>289528983She would make a great whore herself.
>>289528507Because she knew she would get Maomogged this summer by Reirin.
>>289529052No curves.
>>289529052>>289529076Unironically, if she had the body for it Maomao could probably be an extremely successful concubine, her understanding of the industry has it down to a science. But in truth she would be wasted as a concubine. Her real value would be as the madam running the shop. Training girls, matching them to clients, defusing situations before they escalate, quietly disappearing a body if someone lays hands on one of the girls, etc.
>>289528507Her demeanor instantly changed when she realized the ikemen gigachad crown prince of infinite wealth and supernatural beauty actually had a penis
>>289529028Most hide that.
>>289529854I certainly hope not. I don't want a wife if shes thinking stuff like that behind my back so to speak.
>>289528507Was?
>>289528507Court people deserve it
Without going into details or spoilers, does maomao ever feel any sort of sense of remorse or wrong doing that isn't just apologizing to her superiors for some type of social faux pas?
>>289528507a great mystery series marred by an ugly girl literally me MC"she's really beautiful but makes herself uglier on purpose".lmfao. yeah.sure.
>>289530800Not really. Maomao regrets some outcomes that she couldn't avoid or learns some revelations about another character that might reframe how she has treated them in the past, but her actions are almost always so cold and utilitarian in nature that it leaves her little room for remorse later on. She doesn't really have cases of wrongdoing, at worse she has "It was the right decision at the time".
>>289528507Cuz it's more fun this way.
>>289530826>cant even conceptualize that in certain eras the culture was so different that the more you stick out as a woman the worse it gets for youDo historylets really?
>>289528507No black cock in ancient china land
>>289531814Your favorite Dragon ball character?
>>289530826The problem with a mystery series in an era where everyone has just the worth on ant is:Why would you care who dies or gets mistreated?Everything sucks and solving these mysterys changes very little about that in the grand scheme of things.
>>289529617The phallus. The symbol of creation. Of course she would be awestruck once knowing that it exists.
>>289530826Was this book actually written for women? I know its written by one but some shit in here makes me shake my head.
>>289531915I think thats a rooster fighter villian
>>289532221Um luckily the dodged that problem by having the whole setting revolve around aristocrats and royals. Real problem is almost all the mysteries are unsolvable without some esoterric knowledge of chemistry. Only one I figured out was the exploding storehouse.
>>289533130> Real problem is almost all the mysteries are unsolvable without some esoterric knowledge of chemistry.I mean, that comes with the territory. If the solution to the mysteries was cryptography or high-stakes sword dueling, our protagonist wouldn't be Maomao it would be someone else. She's an apothecary/chemist, so thats the basis of the mysteries that she solves.
Need fixing from a certain faggot prince
>>289533286Yea but most readers aren't chemists. At least in hajime no ippo they explain the types of punches. Battle shonens explain their completely made up power mechanics. No reason this series can't just tell you about a bunch of poisons, then you hear of a murder and you guess which type was used, with the background knowledge of where a bunch of people were before the murder you could guess how it was administered but it'd still be a brain teaser you would only sometimes get right.

>>289529028It's not just a "woman" thing, humans in general are judgmental and cunty.
>>289529028>In fact most don't.
>>289528507she's literally me
>>289528924when did he sexually harass her? outside of that one time he bit her neck
>>289534662My mom said that too
>>289532273before she learns he has one she's constantly lamenting about what a waste it was for him to be castrated. maomao's lust is subtle but it is there.
>>289534377aw don't be like that
>>289534703She is constantly under threat from the Emperor's Son. It's a typical theme for the setting and is usually used to explore a very steep power disparity dynamic. The LN ironically treats their relationship and dynamic as window dressing where as the principle stories are your mystery of the arc things. there is very little forward momentum of their relationship dynamic even up to the most recent volume. A lot of spinning of wheels and largely unimportant side plots that go nowhere/get concluded within the volume or the next. There are small incidents where Jinshi makes forward propositions either in moments of weakness or as a teas and Maomao nearly always responds the same way, with emotionally detached and unwanted resignation of fate.To date their "relationship" has been written slightly as a tragedy. Maomao, because of how she was raised is completely disengaged with empathy when it comes to love, at least she cannot emotionally engage in it in any way. The closest she came to "love" was missing her friends from the rebellion arc. She fears being trapped in the palace and she doesn't really care about Jinshi's affections. But she also doesn't dwell in regret with the concept of being ordered to bed with him, so when it is "teased" or "suggested" she approaches it as dutifully as any other... duty. This doesn't please Jinshi as he wants her to want him in the same way and to the same extent he wants/likes/loves her. Although as it is written they don't really love each other at the moment. He doesn't see her as a possession but his subconscious understands her as one. For Maomao, she doesn't seem to care either way and sees a life in the palace, even as a caged bird as a far better alternative than a life in the streets. All of this is treated as a tertiary plot concern over a dozen volumes and you might get a page or two of "relationship advancement" between them over a single volume.
>>289533286The last ~2-3 arcs involved other things and are "earning" them. In the last ~2 arcs Moamao isn't even the lynchpin or lead in solving the issues. She is more learning and observing from the sidelines while being nominally involved. It's decent writing in this aspect as it's balanced and she isn't some magical Mary Sue.Below are bulleted point examples.>The famine arc barely involves Maomao problem solving. She helps put together the correlation between bird population and locusts, but others knew before her and it didn't resolve anything. She did help make pesticide but it only helped one village and the crisis was not "soved by her">She did poison the kidnappers towards the end but the mini-arc didn't come without cost and it wasn't a silver bullet to resolve the arc. (Chu did more heavy lifting and sacrificed more to protect Maomao, Maomao simply made the rescue easier.)>The Emperor's (appendectomy was it?) basically had Maomao as a "side character" observer/nurse who simply learned through the arc. She helped with one of the trials on the medicinal side, but again, she was an assistant and I don't recall her being a lynchpin to anything involved in it.>The smallpox arc (most recent) again doesn't have her taking center stage as the resolution to any of the issues. Its, I forget the guy's name, but the surrogate apothecary who brings the solution to the court. Maomao is actually removed largely from the resolution of smallpox. The latest volumes are a bunch of "Side quests" involving matchmaking of characters that the reader likely doesn't care about, especially considering the progress made.A major criticism I have with the story currently is that it doesn't know what it wants to be. It feels like it has meandered for 3 or 4 arcs now and the author doesn't know how to convincingly progress with the principle cast. I think the anime made the author want to drag out the series more from success.
>>289528966/thread
>>289537504>made the author want to drag out the series more from successIt's not just the author. This is her job and other people make money off it. Working in LN/manga/anime is a business, this is their job, of course they don't want to be unemployed.
>>289531697you're ugly aren't you lel>>289532221i disagree. every individual episode's mystery is resolved, and they all connect towards an overarching mystery. I've never seen or read a mystery that did that so successfully.at least for season 1. season 2 was weak as fuck
>>289537914Most creators would be happy to move on to something else/try new things till it works. Its pretty much the editors and producers that push for infinite continuation.
