I'm getting a bit tired of this arc, to be honest. I think I understand what Togashi is trying to go for, but it just ends up being an extra convoluted narrative. It could be the case that the added complexity would make it more interesting, but at least to me it doesn't, because I just do not feel particularly interested in 90% of these new characters. I also do not think most plot points add anything to the story, sometimes less is kore, even though Togashi's trademark is the opposite.I think the "wobble is off the ship" plot is boring. This arc could have worked with 5 princes instead of all of these.I also cannot feel invested in all of these benjamin soldiers. They are all going to job against hunters and/or spiders if the situation arrives.I think Togashi should have directly started the DC arc. This one is too much of a narrative break and, at least for now, I don't see an interesting payoff for it in the horizon. Reading these last few chapters has felt like a chore.

Calling in about the appearance of guardian spirits also put a target on his back but this call isn't dumb or anything because he was literally trying to verify if anyone else was encountering these creatures. The problem is that call put him in Benjamin's sights which led to Vincent being sent in, killing another of the remaining maids and causing two others to retire. This also firmly put Kurapika against Benjamin since he saved Oito at the expense of Vincent's life. On top of all that the call made all the other princes interested in Kurapika. The class is him making the best out of the situation and even then he is shown to have less insight in some areas. Which is why Shimanu saving his bacon is such a big deal because Kurapika needed Zhang Lei's backing more than any other. With the class Kurapika can balance being a target while also being significantly weakened due to Silent Majority's rampage. He gains assistance and favor with the princes while proportionally exposing himself to risk. And he is forcing a greater stalemate because just spreading information and opening up people's eyes to nen reduced the effectiveness of Benjamin's plans which were guaranteed to eliminate virtually every other prince.

My biggest problem with this arc is not the pacing, the dozens of characters and multiple plotlines all happening at the same time. All of this can be forgiven... but the fuckin exposition, I just... I can't deal with expository dialogue, it's my number one unforgiveable sin in storytelling. I can't stand it. It's like Togashi forgot how to write. That scene with Babymina explainning how his abillity works, for example, all I was thinking is: "who the fuck is he talking to? He knows all this shit already!" I know exposition is necessary but you gotta find a way to deliver it in a way that feels organic. Togashi circumvented this problem well during the Chimera ant arc by having the narrator explain stuff. It's not great, but at least it's not a fuckin dude for no reason, yapping to himself about stuff that he already knows.
