>>289696367I disagree. This way, he's just a straightforward enforcer. He's yet another fantasy orc monster. With the in-game version, him appearing to just be a shallow, animalistic brute, only to reveal that he is a being with thoughts, opinions, and driven by unbeknownst choices rather than nature, is incredibly intriguing.It really gets you to wonder about who and what he is, how he became allied with Zant, why he came to be who he is, why he kept himself silent, and most importantly: if he's a sentient creature that actively chose to align with Twilight, what other misconceptions and secrets are there surrounding this invasion of Hyrule and the beings from that realm. It plays a lot into the game's themes as well.I mean sure, a lot of those questions still aren't answered with the manga version, but we spend just a bit too much time with him and his personality to really have that intrigue be there in the same way. It tries to supplant that with him having some intent to conquer instead of pillage, what with how he takes Ilia for himself, but it's not as interesting and we don't get to spend enough time with him to build that interest.I'll also say that his "beef' with Link is any more especially developed here. At most, there's an added layer of "oh shit, unfinished business" on Bulblin's side, but it's mostly just vocalized here. Otherwise it's just the same. Unless you're talking about further into the manga, which I wouldn't know.
