The only time I've gone to Britain I ate fish and chips (mid dish btw) and then had to be rescued from the London Eye by a bomb squad because there was a bomb threat and some Muslim dude ran over pedestrians on the bridge next to it.
I bought a newspaper the next day as memorabilia, I still have it in my desk.

There was that whole treaty and alliance between Japan and Britain that lasted till about the Washington Naval Treaty at which point Britain decided the US was now its bestfriend. Part of the result of that decision was WWII, but that period of friendship gave the world Japanese high school girls in sailor uniforms because an Anglophile Japanese man became a high school principal and made his students wear them and it spread; school uniforms in general are a British export nobody really talks about or acknowledges, even the modern Japanese uniforms of blazers is a British export. The period of friendship also led to the formation of the IJN under British tutelage which is why Japan still has the most competent Navy in Asia. It also let Japan become a modern state able to beat Russia, do everything it did to the Chinese, and for a brief period match the RN and USN.

Whatever cuisine you like probably has organ meat dishes, which the locals don't really eat anymore, you just aren't aware of it.

Just like Jap curry, they've modified it enough it is its own dish. Jeets will gladly enough insult you for thinking its real curry. They're as elitist about "authenticity" as Italians, unfortunately for them no one cares.

British food is good and was the best in the world till WWII and then in the aftermath of that war the communist government kept rationing going for another eight years permanently damaging the food culture. Listen I know that you want to hate on every aspect of America but please control yourself
The single greatest (from a quality of life perspective) thing about America is the houses
American houses are large, comfortable, and well-stocked with modern amenities that people (wasteful though they may be) don't even think about not using

There's a million things to diss America for but the houses are not one of them.

>It's just too expensive
I don't care about the cost, cooking isn't about buying the fanciest shit.
>>
>>289822140
The build quality is garbage bags held together with matchsticks. You are correct, the houses are large, but there's more to a house. Maybe if you have 4-5 kids an American-sized house is nice? For 2 people, almost any new construction is excessive space.
No one who has lived in multiple countries is going to claim that America's winning on houses.
>>
>>289822140
The houses are one of the worst aspects of the US, anon. Size is not necessarily a positive, rooms need human scale. Once you can no longer use walls to support furniture, your room quickly becomes awkward to use. Comfortable? You're living in an oversized plywood shed, it can't possibly be comfortable.

I've lived in multiple countries.
And American houses (or at least all the ones I've lived in) are absolutely superior on a raw comfort level than those I've lived in abroad.
>>289822273
A/C, heating, clothes dryers, fucking garbage disposals, massive hot water tanks, etc ect
And in some cases it's not even so much a matter of not having them abroad, but being reluctant to use them (both because electricity is a lot more expensive and because they're not quite as wasteful as Americans)
But growing up in the US neither I nor anyone in my family nor anyone I knew ever hesitated to crank the A/C whenever and however, or to turn the heat all the way up in our long cold midwestern winters.
But my roommate last time I lived in Europe? Would never dream of spend a single shiny centime more on heating than the bare minimum. My landlord before that? Actually lectured me on how I needed to minimize power usage.
Etc etc.

I've got my own life experience behind me here as well as an understanding of the single biggest difference between (especially) Americans and Europeans. Americans maximize comfort and freedom in the private zone. So comfortable houses, large cars, etc. I hate SUVs myself but you're delusional if you're claiming they're not comfortable as fuck to drive. European public spaces are undoubtedly way nicer but houses? Fuck no. At least comparing middle class to middle class.

>>289823100

>A/C
If you want it, you can get it. You just have to want it enough, yknow.

>clothes dryers

not sure why you'd need one, when you just put your stuff on a drying rack, though.

>fucking garbage disposals
I'll be honest, to this day I don't understand what a "garbage disposal" is supposed to be, do you guys not have trashcans? But if you want one, you can just buy one.

>massive hot water tanks
If you want a bigger one, just buy a bigger one

I don't get what you are saying, if you want them, you can buy all these things in Europe. What's the big deal. The difference is that your house is made of brick and not plywood.

>But my roommate last time I lived in Europe?
You're living in a place with a "roommate", you're fucking poor. Of course, poor people will be concerned about the money they spend, isn't that common sense?

I feel like the actual cultural gap here is that you don't want to buy anything you feel would make your life more comfortable and you expect it to just be there? I guess that's the actual cultural difference.

>you're delusional if you're claiming they're not comfortable as fuck to drive
Until you're trying park one of those things in Europe. Then suddenly, you'll be very unhappy with the size of your car.

>At least comparing middle class to middle class.
Yes, generally people don't spend money on frivolous nonsense in Europe, because people Europe have a big aversion to overspending. Just check how many Americans live paycheck to paycheck and how many Americans cannot cover a sudden 400 dollar expense (400 USD is very little money, especially accounting for PPP)
>>
>>289823198
Well sure. McMansions are ugly. But they're nowhere near even being the majority of the houses in the US. Maybe among homes built in the past 20 years.
But either way the McMansion will be a whole hell of a lot cheaper than a house of equivalent size/lot/features anywhere else in the world. And I really do mean anywhere else in the world.
Of course all the external stuff might be better elsewhere even with a smaller house, like living in a nicer city, but that's getting away from the core of the matter, the house itself.
>>
>>289823198
>McMansion

This is a climate thing as much as anything, PNWfags will do the same thing Europoids do where they pretend that it only being unlivably hot 10% of the year is an excuse to not have proper AC. And the newest construction tends to have two-way heat pumps.
>fucking garbage disposals, massive hot water tanks
Granted, depending on the nation and the size of the house, but these are also some of the easiest things to fix. I think its more cultural as you noted, people will simply not get AC, or a garbage disposal, or a larger hot water tank, even though you are perfectly free to do so, because they are conditioned to penny pinch and "not be wasteful". So the issue is more Europeans than European homes.
>I hate SUVs myself but you're delusional if you're claiming they're not comfortable as fuck to drive
Nah, the crossover is the median American car because they're actually the most comfortable. SUVs feel a bit like piloting a boat.
>>289823437
Wait until you learn about the 5-over-1 without AC. All the aesthetics of the McMansion with literally zero of the comfort.
>>
>>289823421
Theyre cheaper on average vs Europe as the materials are cheaper (I dont mean worse just often easier to access) and land is far cheaper as theres more of it and it doesnt have to work around other old stuff or retarded several centuries out of date legal bullshit. This is all besides the point the argument is making. Its purely down to the design philosophy of how it looks, the layout, and the vibes etc. Id rather a huge expansive Victorian era England styled house/flat than some other countries aesthetic equivalents purely based on those things. Buying one is far less achievable than say a Spanish or Italian villa or an old Japanese styled house but that isnt the point.

>>
>>289823406
>anon, I hate saying it, but heating is not a "modern amenity"
it is if one culture refuses to use as much of it as they really should for their own comfort
>not sure why you'd need one, when you just put your stuff on a drying rack, though.
they're way way fucking better than airdrying. And it's actually another case of a big culture difference. My roommate last time I lived in Europe HAD a drying machine, she just never used it and insisted I didn't either. Once again there's just that quick difference between Americans not even thinking about it and Europeans being extremely concerned about the electricity cost.
You can spin this around to Americans being wasteful or not frugally-minded but I think it speaks more to the American laser-focus on personal comfort.
>>289823406
>I don't get what you are saying, if you want them, you can buy all these things in Europe. What's the big deal. The difference is that your house is made of brick and not plywood.
The house I grew up in in America was made of stone.

See you don't seem to even comprehend what I'm talking about. My point isn't some "America good Europe bad" thing but a recognition of the cultural importance in the US for one's personal space to be as comfortable as possible.
Nobody in the US is breaking their bank over A/C or heating or clothes dryers. But even if they were, it's not really because Americans are wasteful, but because Americans prioritize comfort above all else.

American houses are great to live in.

P.P.S. by roommate I meant a sort of host living situation, my roommate was pretty much perfectly middle class and definitely not poor.

I have never spoken to anyone who was concerned about heating costs, who wasn't literally without income.

>they're way way fucking better than airdrying
No, they are objective worse for your clothing. That doesn't matter if the nicest things you own are brand-name athleisure and graphic tees, but if you do buy things made of natural fabrics, they will suffer in the dryer.

>The house I grew up in in America was made of stone.
I'm very happy for you, I'm glad you experienced life in a real house.

>a recognition of the cultural importance in the US for one's personal space to be as comfortable as possible.
My point is twofold. The immediate refutation is that if you want something you can just buy it. But also, that Americans don't do that because they live in plywood sheds.
If you guys liked comfort so much, you'd build a proper house and not a firetrap.
>>

Build additional power plants faggots. The stupidass stigma against AC i swear. Just because we cherish in our collective imagination pictures of The Great Winter, poor families dying in the snow, hobos huddling around the firebarrel. Feeling comfortable in winter is a deadly need but feeling comfortable in the summer is a decadent pleasure, even though the same appliance will both warm and cool in an efficient manner while releasing 0 toxic gas (wtf is that lol, the 80's were 40 years ago). Warming the air outside..the air above the roofs where nobody lives..the air in the street the fuck you doing in the street nigga get home where it's cool. You know what contributes to overheat?
