Seems like Urasawa must've read Don Delillo's Libra in preparation for BB, and Billy also reminds me of the baseball in Underworld in how he functions in the story. Thomas Pynchon and Gravity's Rainbow generally also a very, obvious reference point for his manga and the vibe they have.
