Exterior: Hell on Earth.>Year 1999.Denji is the captain of Tokyo special division 4 with Power by his side. He would then be tasked however to ward over a 16 year old Aki who in a devil attack that killed his now older brother Taiyo, and destroyed his family's home made an illegal contract with a weaker gun devil than the original timeline ( this is due to guns now being overshadowed by nuclear weapons and chemical weapons thus no longer making him War's favorite child and he made the contract with Aki with the stipulation that Aki would only gain the gun devils full power if he attained a death wish similar to the gun devil's own) in order to save the rest of his family which led to public safety coercing him into a deal where in exchange for both his family getting housing provided by public safety and him not getting arrested he would be indefinitely employed into Tokyo special division 4. Denji would also end up needing to ward a 19 year old Himeno who although was training to be a cop decided to become a devil hunter after both her apartment was destroyed and police training partner was killed in a devil attack with her joining being driven by a string of friends from her childhood all being killed by devils throughout her life.
Main coarse and tension.Denji initially carries a mindset where he doesn't care if he drops dead tomorrow due him essentially being a walking corpse since his heart died 2 years ago, but due to Power's blood through their contrac coursing throughout his entire body keeping his dead heart pumping blood despite it's defectiveness (this also means that if power were to die he'd die too). This in tandem with the belief that he already has everything he ever wanted in life ( a good bi weekly salary, being able to eat good steak every weekend, a spacious apartment, a warm soft bed that he shares with a cute girl, a video game console, and the respect from being an exemplary devil hunter). However after being sent to investigate an abandoned parking garage with Power for devil activity that was reported by a mysterious caller, they would then encounter the Night Devil which is far above their stren-th level which causes Denji to tell Power to run as he sti V that she can live without him
Grace climaxwhile he can't however Power refuses which leads to them both getting mutilated. As Denji enters a dream like state he sees Power who has revealed her true devil form to him and states that she could never abandon him as he was her first ever true friend and for that reason she decides to change their contract where in exchange for Power now no longer just being Denji's blood but also his heart he would go live on to "live his life how he sees fit" which causes Denji to transform into the blood devil hybrid with his devil trigger being him gouging the eye covered by the eyepatch that is now both bloodshot and carrying the same cross hair iris that Power had in order to painfully kill the night devil. The story then follows Denji trying to both recover from losing the closest person he ever had in his life and trying to figure out what "living how he sees fit" even truly means as his entire world view has been put on it's head.Meanwhile a malevolent force in the background decides to have it's eye's set on Denji simply on a whim merely seeing him as "big game" and lies in wait to strike all the while Denji begins to get haunted by both dreams and nightmares of a world that no longer exists.
>Sidenotes.We see the rest of the horsemen possibly talking about what they think of the control devil, since if one of them tried to create a perfect world where her sisters didn't exist I'm sure another one would be willing to do that.The horsemen aren't actually all that evil considering the only truly evil one has no motivation for her to be that way, and maybe they become side characters that have their own sort of thing going on before everything converges once the threat of the apocalypse becomes apparent.On the day of the apocalypse, every devil comes to earth to greet Lil D, and the event is so intense it manages to wipe out not only every human on earth but every devil too, permanently trapping every devil in hell.The final chapter then pans down to some sort of underground shelter, where it's revealed that lil d worked with the Soviet union to clone the entire population, with one singular devil hiding amongst them: The ice devil
