HOWEVER! I do think that it was the weakest of the season. It was just not all that memorable, probably mostly because it doesn't do a proper food montage at the end, which is the bread and butter of the show. Their interactions were still fun and everything, shinon's hyper energy is still a joy to watch, but this episode is sandwhiched between 2 and 4, which are both really really good
as 2 had the first montage of them cooking together and 4 introduced nana (the most powerful of the hibis) finally. I think the show really comes together around episode 4 and I can't remember any weak episodes after it. Still, I wouldn't call this episode bad at all. It just falls a little short of the standard we see across the whole seasonI think it's good for them to try and break the standard pattern and occasionally have them not make the food themselves, but I think a better solution in breaking the pattern is to instead have more things for them to do that they montage instead, like the upcoming episode where they help the agriculture club, one of my favorites. That was a slight devation from the normal episode set up, but in my opinion it worked better than how episode 3 came out
I also think a few of the jokes or interactions were a little off this time. For instance, when they were riding up the mountain and were going to have their picture taken, claire and hitsuji had a moment where they both decided to not pose, and it just felt a little awkward, then oshinko forced makocchi to pose, BUT we didn't get to see their pictures. The joke instead was that she posed and ended up not even looking at it, which just felt a little weak

But the food did look pretty good!I also had the benefit of picking up this show when episode 4 aired, so I immediately watched it right after this, thus, episode 3 in my mind kinda got elevated a bit by the ones before and after. But I can understand how watching it weekly it might have felt a little underwhelming.Still, SheeP got a little more time in the spotlight this episode, which is always nice to see

Oh, this episode with the dango reminded me of dream I had the other night that felt like something Mako would dream of. Take a loaf of some kind of sweet sugary bread, carve out the inside from the bottom, and stuff it full of rice. Just pack it on in there. Rice as a stuffing. Maybe I'm watching too much food anime.

I watched this show a few weeks after I had gone on a solo trip to Japan, and I went around the Izu peninsula for 3 days, so it was weird seeing them animate some of the places I had gone to.Here's a pic in Cape Tsumeki, which is near Shimoda. It's a pretty comfy rocky beach. I think it was on Yuru Camp as well.

So yeah I think I agree with the other Anon it wasn't a very strong episode. Maybe the weakest of the first three. But there was some good stuff in there. They have their first outing and decide they want to do more stuff together. Almost like a real food research club. All the characters get a bit of stuff. Shinon and Sheep seem to be the main focus, but Mako is becoming more integrated into the group and invested in having adventures with them. It's good, just not great. Kurea was cute. Looking forward to next Saturday.

You can tell they care about each other as friends, and even though the show focuses on their club activities, they give each other enough space that it doesn't feel like their whole lives/characters revolve around them. One of the most genuine depictions of friendship in anime.

Kurea is far closer to Mako and Shinon, but has no trouble getting along with the others when the group is together.The episode where they go to Mako's hometown was a good opportunity to have them interact more, but alas, Kurea crashed for most of it. This is one aspect that can be developed more in future material for sure.
