Volume 07.This is a spinoff from Black Lagoon, starring Frederica Sawyer, The Cleaner. This manga is very different in style and tone from the original series, and it's based in the light novels written by Gen Urobuchi, where Rei Hiroe had asked him to write in a way which "challenged Black Lagoon's canon." It is written and illustrated by Ida Tatsuhiko, with co-writing by Rei Hiroe.It's more or less like an alternate canon to the main series, presumably the same events but if the setting was much less grounded in reality and where every character is like an exaggerated version of themselves (ergo, the Urobuchi novels). There are themes of the supernatural, which are sometimes gray, with Sawyer being depicted as occasionally experiencing hallucinations (for varying reasons), sometimes making it less clear which events really happened as shown.Though she is canonically capable of speech with the help of handheld speaking aids, she is depicted as basically a silent protagonist in this series, mostly communicating with facial expressions. >>289843476Glad you enjoyed it after all.I think Ida actually can draw better, if you look at the art of the older Book Of Venom doujin, it has much nicer art, so I assume that the style in Gore Gore Girl is both a stylistic choice, and a matter of being quicker and easier to draw. You can very much tell that guns are traced from stock photos or 3D models, which IMO stands out awkwardly, as they then look much more lifelike and detailed, and it'd better if he just free-handed it (even if using the same assets as references). You can tell sometimes when he draws them without, as they usually look pretty crude, but sometimes they do look better, like he took more time with them (or maybe he has a gun otaku assistant helping him at times).Gonna get to the rest of the volume uploads soon, I've got a dog that needs tending to.

Don't care if they use images for references but I enjoy them going with their own style. In the long run is also for the best because the artist learns how to do it better as time passes, the contrary causes it to stagnate and in worse cases to devolve since he's not practicing enough and leaving everything to assistants and whatnot.
