What's the actual process of making Anime OP music? Like are these real bands? Are they commissioned to make the songs or are the songs just Radio versions of songs they already have? Why is it as well so many songs are so tonally out of wack with the actual show?
They probably commission and the director draws the storyboard based on the song.

>>289868917Apparently bands like Bump of Chicken, Yoasobi, etc, are seen as real bands (Foo fighters sort of level) outside of making anime music, anison apparently isn't a cringe subgenre, getting commissioned for an OP is seen as a break for smaller acts.
>>289869071it looks like companies commission specific bands to make a theme, and because this theme will be popular, the band usually makes the lyrics vague enough that they can perform it seriously at their own concerts unrelated to the anime.
>>289868917The music company on the production committee suggests a few bands they want to promote and the director chooses a song and then it's usually animated by junior animators at the studio or freelancers, now fuck off back to Youtube newfag
