It's like how in Digimon Adventure 02 the Digi-Eggs could theoretically be passed between each other for different evolutions or in Frontier the different spirits could be used or fused together. But neither Digimon series explored those possibilities, while in contrast Black Clover did to an extent.But the ending is just very stock. It's what you'd expect and so not very memorable. Not a catastrophe, but not standout in any way. For better or for worse, Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia had opinionated endings, which made them memorable.

The few chapters introducing the heart and spade kingdom with the blackbull getting "banished" and the training time skip are egregious and manage to feel both rushed and terribly structured. This acts like complete deadweight and would have made this "kingdoms" arc worth an unapologetic axing. The rest of the story then has to drag it around to keep the continuity but never manages to pick itself back up due to introducing retarded concepts and powerlevels getting all over the place to the point it doesn't make sense anymore. I don't care about popularity but it is unquestionably badly, not just mediocrely, written after that.
