Now in retrospect, Kabuto is the only smart character kishi wrote "well". I mean "well" by kishi standards, so not that high quality, but still, better than his other characters. Shikamaru is probably the most wanked character here in naruto, followed by itachi. The way shikamaru is written is genuinely funny, its like how kishi thinks smart people think. A lot of moments shika has to do a lot of back thinking to come to simple conclusions. Sometimes it even feels like overthinking. And then the characters praise him for it, because kishi is a hack. Itachi is said to be a genius since part 1, but every fight of his is literally just genjutsu slop. Niggas stares at his eyes, lose, and thats it. Also the uchiha massacre and his treatment of Sasuke is all retarded. He is the character that has the most asspull, not just in naruto, but in anime history. Neji is also called a genius in part 1, but has that embarrassing loss to naruto, and is literally featless in part 2. Became a figurant in the world, like many. Now Kabuto starts better. Since part 1, he shows genuinely great abilities, that arent overpowered or hax, but does put him in a interesting pedestal. Tsunade saying he has healing technic better than hers is a great point. The dead corpse technic shows he had the potential to improve the edo tensei jutsu later on. He advances his masters work and. His augmented abilities comes from sage mode and the fact he had to control Orochimarus cell to not consume him, making him stronger. He basically checkmated Naruto and bee using nagato, if it wasn't for itachi bs.
