There is something we must accept about Grow Up Show. A hard truth. One that is almost hidden, but self-evident to the thinking mind. I will put it in a word. Magic exists within this universe. Real, actual magic. Imari, specifically, is a magician. Here are the facts>during the beach episode, Imari's show, put on with the help of Mizuka, involved an exploding chest and having the subjects within suddenly appear a hundred yards away>if this were realistic, the way this would be done is simple>mizuka and ouka would have gotten into the chest, then immediately exited via a secret hole underneath, and perhaps through a short tunnel, emerged somewhere else on the beach. While Imari was distracting the crowd, the two would make their way to their marks and wait for the planned explosion, before commencing the last portion of the show. Simple, yes?>no!>we know that ouka herself, who was in this chest, was confused as to how the magic trick was pulled off. She tells us this immediately upon her appearance atop the lifeguard tower and at the end of the episode, where she is still confused over the logistics. Furthermore, she is wearing a completely different outfit from what she was when she entered the box.>because of her direct claim that she does not understand what happened, we are left with three options as solution
>1)Ouka is simply lying. Ouka knew exactly how the trick is done and is directly lying to us, the audience. This would require her knowing that she is in an anime and deliberately choosing to sell us this lie in order to sell the trick. You could argue that her first bout of confusion on the tower was for the benefit of the in-show audience, to try and sell the trick to them, but why would she, then, reiterate her confusion at the end of the episode when standing on a pier in the moonlight with nobody around? This is not very likely.>2) mizuka managed to, unbeknownst to ouka, strip and dress her, carry her a hundred yards, up a wooden tower, and then get herself upon another tower an equal distance away from their origin; all while being hidden from the audience on the beach. Now, I have no doubt of Mizuka's physical abilities. She is very strong and agile; her body is very close to ideal, according to Ouka herself. But to do all of this in the manner in which the show presents is simply neigh impossible.>3) we are left with the final and only choice. Magic is real. Imari teleported her two helpers to atop their towers and changed ouka's outfit near instantaneously, just before the chest exploded.How she was able to do this is beyond my understanding, for I am no magician, but I know it was done.
We are simply left with no true options to believe except to believe in magic. The show is asking us to believe in wonder and in whimsy. It's asking us to check out cynicism at the tent when we enter the sunflower circus.Another example is the rainy episode which follows. In it>mizuka is able to steal, hide, and carry a dozen apples on her without having anything to hold them in. She claims directly that imari taught her this "magic trick" but what is this trick exactly? Where was she keeping these apples? The most reasonable explanation is a sort of small pocket dimension she was able to drop the apples into and retrieve them at will.>in this very same episode, we see Aoi, one of the twins, appear to have no trouble at all understanding Francois the elephant. They can speak to eachother and understand eachother's language.>Mizuka even calls her out on this, in surprise, but not in terrible shock, and Aoi, in response, doesn't play it up or make it sound like it's a big deal. She responds as if, "of course I can talk to him, what about it?" She was seen to have a connection with animals in past episodes, however this goes above and beyond>the closest thing we could conpare Aoi to is probably a druid, as we know them>importantly, this seems to be a separate form of magic from Imari's, which can be taught. Aoi's seems to be innate. We have yet to see if Akane has the same abilityIn conclusion, considering all of these facts, we have no choice but to accept that magic is real within this world. Aoi has some natural talent with nature-based magic. Imari is skilled at illusion, destructive, and teleportation magic, at the very least, and is likely also adept with pyromancy and healing magics (how else could maria have survived being run over by that huge ball?)What are your thoughts on this, my fellow scholars? Have I missed anything? Any predictions on what future episodes will show us?

Okay, so there's actually literally no way Aoi and Akane are actually 15. That's just something they're saying because of China or whatever, right? Because at their heights they would be like 5 standard deviations below average even for Japanese girls. They're much more likely to be just really short 11 or 12 year olds. One thing I love, btw, is how mizuka was characterized in this past episode. We all know that she's a moneygoblin and has no qualms about stealing food here and there, BUT, when she found akane and francios together, she surrendered right away. I mean, she didn't try to coax akane into bringing him in, she didn't try to convince her to do so while witholding the information about the prize money, she didn't try to force akane to relinquish francois, nor did she leave immediately to go back and get the ringleader to bring her to the cave. She basically immediately conceded and BEGGED akane to share the prize money with her. Then, when she learned that they were bullying francois, she gave up on the prize money completely and didn't bring it up again. Instead she said they should go ask maria about what to do. Basically what I'm getting at is that despite her obvious flaws as a money hungry gremlin, she's actually a really good person with a sense of honor and likes caring about people. The troupe is slowly but surely melting her cold cold heart
