Why is the 90s Sailor Moon anime considered a preschool show on /a/? I keep seeing posts about it being called one as in like for the same age group as stuff like Shimajiro, Anpanman, Precure and the anime Nick Jr aired back in the late 80s and early 90s.

the show that had sailor moon's timeslot immediately prior:
>>

What does this mean? I've never heard of this anime.
>>
>>290087217
Anyone?
>>
>this weeks villain is...an evil race car
>this weeks villain is...an evil violin
>this weeks villain is...an evil shoe
>this weeks villain is...an evil balloon
It's a mystery OP. Sailor Moon is just so mature and complex.
>>
>>290088786
I get that it's simple, but one could say Dragon Ball Z is simple and nobody ever calls that a preschool show. One Piece is never called a preschool show. Neither is Demon Slayer. Not even SpongeBob is considered a preschool show.
>>
>>290088847
All of those are preschool shows. Do you think you're some kind of exception for having watched them as a baby?
>>
Precure is basically a spiritual successor to Sailor Moon. That's a very easy connection to draw.
>>290087283
I'm probably going to read this soon and may watch the anime at some point. This isn't the actual art style from what I've seen. The manga was also in the same magazine as Sailor Moon, along with CCS and Precure manga adaptations as well.
>>
>>290088899
SpongeBob isn't a preschool show. If it was, it would've aired on Nick Jr. It's fine if a preschooler wants to watch it, but it wasn't a strictly preschool aimed show.
>>
>>290088940
What makes Precure basically a spiritual successor to Sailor Moon? I've watched Precure seasons and I still don't know what makes it one.
>>
>>290087217
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8rV3i71C8c

These were the commercials airing during Sailor Moon's broadcast in Japan.
>>
>>290089022
An episodic series where a team of magical girls (with the sentai influence) fight a group of bad guys. Sailor Moon and Precure are the most prominent magical girl anime with that setup. Sailor Moon is the one that made it popular and Precure made it a sensation later on that's still going. You're blind if you don't see the extremely obvious link between them. Or maybe you're not familiar with magical girl anime that aren't that. Which I don't know how you could be if you've looked into the genre at all.
>>
>>290089010
You're too autistic to understand this matter. As expected from an adult playing mental gymnastics to justify being a /mlp/ reject.
>>
>>290089032
Those look like kids' commercials, not preschooler stuff, so about what I would expect
>>
>>290089094
I never said SpongeBob wasn't a kids show. It is a kids show, it's just not a strictly 2-5 year old aimed one.
>>
>>290089070
There's several others like that, but fair enough. I was an idiot and I didn't really think of how Sailor Moon popularized this and Precure has been the most popular one in Japan for 2 decades.
>>
>>290089244
the reason PreCure exists is because Toei didn't want another Sailor Moon situation where they have a grand slam IP they can't milk because the owner refuses to let them make spinoffs. Toei wanted to pull a DB GT with Sailor Moon and Takeuchi said no way. so they retooled it into a Cutie Honey spinoff that bombed.
>>
>>290089517
So basically since Precure is a show for 3-5 year olds, Sailor Moon was also for 3-5 year olds? That's fascinating.

Forced schizo spam isn’t representative of the board’s opinion retard
Next you’ll be asking why is Madoka considered yuri on /a/
>>
>>290089792
Because yuri doesn't mean lesbo sex, retard tourist
>>
>>290089805
It means homosexuality
>>

>Forced schizo spam isn’t representative of the board’s opinion retard
It might as well be at this point. /a/ is dead as fuck
>Next you’ll be asking why is Madoka considered yuri on /a/
It isn't? I haven't seen Rebellion in a while; but it ends with Homura saying she loves Madoka
>>
>>290088847
Dragon Ball Z is just for a low IQ audience, no matter if children or grown-ups
>>
>>290089070
And Precure continued the trend just because Takeuchi didn't want to continue with more Sailor Moon and Toei wanted to do it
>>
>>290089825
/a/ is pretty active and the schizos are easy to spot and single out

Get a better model this is pathetic
>>
>>290087217
Because it is. Its a preschooler version to the manga, which was aimed at a slightly higher age group.
Juat look at the kiddified version of Cutie Honey they aired in its slot right after.

I see, that makes sense. On an unrelated note, could you write a summary of The Myth of the Twentieth Century by Alfred Rosenberg in haiku form?

Schizo.
Regardless to answer OP. The reason people in the West seen Sailor Moon as a kids anime is because most people watched it as kids. Same reason why something like JJK isn't considered one while DBZ is, even though both are Shonen

Nordic blood and soil,
Rosenberg's racial myth claims
superiority
Ancient Aryan,
Imagined golden ancestor—
power's false bedrock
Culture shaped by race,
Decay blamed on foreign forms,
purity as law
Twentieth century,
Wrestling between myth and truth,
darkness dressed as dawn
Destiny perceived,
In blood, not in choice or deed—
ideology's trap

Not very good, but probably my fault for making Haiku run it as a joke.
Anyway, Madoka is yuri because yuri isn't just romance and its unambigiously about love between girls. You may now continue to cope and seethe.

What makes it a preschool one? There's a difference between kids anime and preschool anime.
>>
>>290087217
Well?
>>
>>290087217
I realized it seems to make sense Sailor Moon is a 3 to 5 series since it paved the way for Precure which is also 3 to 5.
>>
>>290088786
>Sailor Moon is just so mature and complex.
It genuinely is. There's so much to actually get out of it and it punches way above what you'd expect from something like it in most aspects. The repetitive MotW stuff is mostly irrelevant to its appeal.
>>
>>290090135
>Its a preschooler version to the manga
The manga has utterly more childish writing compared to the anime.

The manga has fewer superficially silly MotW and a darker overall plot, but the chapter to chapter events and how they are presented is typically much less sophisticated than what the anime does, it has far fewer novel plot arcs and well written characters.
>>
>>290087217
most of the drama from the actual story arcs of this show do feel like they were built for 5 year old girls

Precure's core target audience is girls aged 4 to 9 (and men aged 19 to 30).
>>
>>290087217
The first one everybody saw was the DIC dub which cut out anything slightly inappropriate or violent, That's when her name was literally bunny It wasn't til 2014 we got the VIZ dub which was completely uncut and uncensored
>>
>>290097795
I wonder what other magical girl anime have their core ages be ages 4 to 9.
>>
>>290098331
I expect Sailor Moon was originally similar to Precure by targeting girls aged 4 to 9, and then everybody was surprised when men aged 19 to 30 started saying they like looking at leggy 14-year-old girls wearing miniskirts.
>>
>>290088847
Dbz is in the same boat. Its fans are essentially preschoolers, just look in the threads. Spongebob was actually intelligently written until season 4.

cause people on this site are stupid? Sailor Moon, when heavily censored, often carried a TV Y7 or PG rating in the US, and is currently at TV 14. Nick Jr slop and other preschool blocks run below 7 at a general Y. Don't be retarded now

Why are Magical Girl show fans on this website like this?
Why aren't any of you people fucking like, functionally normal?

The vast majority of users on this board who have a mentally ill obsession with media intended for children are shounentards. This is actually uncommon in magical girl threads.

I would think that most people born before 1995 saw the DiC dub of Sailor Moon before watching the Japanese version or Viz Media dub, so they didn't see all the partial nudity, death and gay stuff that's in this show.
