It looks like dogshit. I'm surprised it even got published in the first place.
Like just look at that pic, looks like something a newbie would post on pixiv instead of a manga from a professional mangaka.
>>
>>290089127
He made a huge mistake focusing on characters like fucking Unburn, that was the pivotal moment where he probably got the call from shueisha.
The thing that pissed me off is that he was moving towards the conclusion and there was really no reason to punish him so hard, specially when so much garbage that came after flopped hard.
>>
>>290089127
>I am definitely not a fan of the fanservice
Way to out yourself as a homosexual.
>>
still had one of the better action shounen endings and wrap-ups in recent memory despite the rush to the end.
>>
>>290089814
>specially when so much garbage that came after flopped hard
Still better than undead unluck
>>
>>290089127
So is the anime still going to continue?
>>
>>290089814
>there was really no reason to punish him so hard,
I don't think you understand how HARD it flopped.
You have pics online of tons and tons of unsold volumes for the anime.
It did so poorly they couldn't even update it's numbers
>>
>>290089127
I enjoyed the anime at first but then it started going crazy on recaps, sometimes recapping something that happened 5 minutes ago all over again. Twice. In the same episode. It would unironically play a scene then go back immediately and replay it again. I think out of each 24 minute episode it would usually have 8 or more of those minutes dedicated to recaps. As much as I liked parts of it, I just couldn't deal with that anymore.
>>
>>290089814
I was really hoping Unburn would do something interesting within the power system. Like use his ability to stop a gun or car from working by preventing combustion.
But no, his arc wasn't very interesting and he basically just functioned as a plot device for the sun meeting, and that's it.
But really, I think the broader problem wasn't just focusing on minor characters, it was that the broader plot was so clearly laid out. It just became a string of "and then this happens" because at the end of the day you know it'll spend a few chapters recruiting this character and then repeat, over and over. Even if the sub-arcs were interesting, and a good few were, the broader picture was a bit less inspiring.
But then it really hurt that right after all that it started to get really rushed. Way too much setup time and then too little payoff time.

Overall though, really fun. Too few series treat powers like specific tools or problem solving abilities. Even stuff like Hero Aca or One Piece don't really quite click the same way.
>>
>>290089127
Nah, it's stupid as fuck.
Plot is lame, resolution is lame.
>>
>>290089127
>right when it started getting good

UNfair you could say
>>
>>290089127

>it flops
Pretty much ensured we're only ever getting beta self-inserts and twinks now. I hate zoomershits.
>>
It lasted longer than I thought it would desu. Could've used a volume or two more but of well.

Hopefully S2 reaches Ragnarok
>>
I don't know why this wasn't received better. I found out about it during the storytime here and I was immediately in love with it. Only gripes I had with it were the rushed ending. Granted I'm a sucker for all things tragic and bittersweet but I thought it had a lot of other things going for it as well.
>>
Fuuko is one of my favorite female designs.
>>
>>290089127
This series is not like the other 19 modern WSJ series, which is why it was UNpopular:
>the MC is not some little limp faggot generic edgy/goofy anime boy, but an actual serious muscular adult man
>the MC gets and kisses the FeMC girl early into the series
>the series gets pretty gorey at a times
Basically it reminds me of older manga. It fits more Coamix than it did in WSJ.
Oh well, season 2 is coming, and it does have a small but dedicated fanbase to it.

>>
>>290091018
The way the entertainment industry and works and always has worked is that only the best stories and characters ride to the top and influence future ones. The mediocre and bad ones fade into obscurity and are forgotten.

UU failed because it sucked, simple as
>>
>>290092349
It was great. We just live in clown world thanks to subhuman zoomoids needing to self-insert into everything who reject anything they can't identify with.
If this came out in the 00s it would have gone on to become a massively popular series.
>>
>>290091533
Yeah, that one was really good.
The Spoil fight near the start was also strong.
I think the series is at its best when it has bigger fight scenes, the kind that pretty much take up a full volume. That may be why a lot of the post-timeskip fell flat for me, too much time spent on micro arcs where they have to rush through the combat. Just have everyone show up once, deploy a special skill, then end it.
>>
>>290090449
It has a confirmed second season but that easily could have been pre-agreed
>>
>>290092349
lol no that's immensely reductive
>>
>>290092824

>>
>>290092349

>>
>>290092349

>>
>>290089127
>cancelled
No, it ended. Sure, the ending was a bit rushed, but all jump endings are. It had a good run; the author told the story he wanted to tell, albeit with a few hiccups, but it still ended
>>
>>290089127
it needed more of fuuko's tits
>>
>>290089127

Honestly the anime for me peaked with the fight with Gina in like episode 4, after that it was just a recap mess.

I caught the tail end of this manga and I can say there’s a significant difference between fights with the main duo and fights with a separated cast. The quality really fell off when the focus was on other characters I did not care about and there were a lot of them apparently.

It's funny that it still somehow wrapped itself up better than Chainsaw Man despite getting cut short at the ending.
>>
>>290091457
>the MC is not some little limp faggot generic edgy/goofy anime boy, but an actual serious muscular adult man
Not only are you wrong about who the MC is (it isn't Andy), but you're wrong about things failing because they're adult muscular men. Kenshiro, Toriko (got canned later but still survived 400+ chapters), Goku, several others, all work out just fine.
>gore
Even MHA has plenty of that. Are you serious?
>>
>>290089127
I enjoyed it throughout its run time. There were slow bits and rushed bits but telling the full story and having a satisfying ending are all I need to have fond memories of the manga.
>>
>>290092349
Then why hasn't every movie become a Transformers or Avatar ripoff?
>>
>>290090608
the recaps definitely killed it, they had no reason to slow the pace at all with so many chapters, just adapt one more arc for fucks sake

It does feel like the final arc got rushed (no real Death and Luck fight, really?) but it was consistently good. Very unique as well. I had fun.

>>
>>290097897
JJK is genuinely good tho
>>
>>290098371
Shonen is not a fucking genre, it doesn't refer to any specific genre or style, it's a target demographic
>>
>>290093801
It's true. Garbage can't influence or inspire anyone or anything
>>
>>290089127
You guys will make fun of me for posting this but this genuinely felt like Jojo and HxH when it came to battles, it was mostly a battle of wits and how to use your power correctly and match ups instead of the usually shonen bullshit of new forms, poorly foreshadowed hidden powers and muh friendship.
>>
>>290089127
I've always seen it as a work written by a low confidence author who built a story on the premise that it can wrap up at any time.
>>
>>290089127
I liked the art but at some point at was completely lost about what everyones power was suppossed to be. It being rushed to death made it even more confusing
>>
>>290089127
It was just too good for this gay, formulaic garbage loving world. And the ending was good, its a shame that we didn't get to see the final battles in full but the conclusion to the story itself was very satisfying. Fuuko is one of my favorite shonen protags ever
>>
>>290089127
Tried first few episodes and when the meteor destroyed that random big ass mension in the middle of a forest I knew this manga has no world building, I deduced that it will be all about super power fights and there is no coherent power system. Am I right?
And also the heroin has nice long hair and big boobs yet the author decided to hide both with her boring outfit.
>>
>>290099097
Formulas become formulas for a reason; because they work.

>I knew this manga has no world building, I deduced that it will be all about super power fights and there is no coherent power system. Am I right?
It would, in fact, be hard for you to be any more wrong.
>>
>>290090508
Maybe if the anime didn't get held hostage by hulu it wouldn't have been as bad
>>
>>290092349
This is the kind of retard that thinks Kagurabachi is the peak of fiction and not propped up purely by zoomer memes
>>
>>290099351
>because they work.
Because they're good enough until they're not anymore. Businesses like copying low risk high return strategies and turning them into an algorithm that anyone can execute. Formulas are shit by definition and only good for tourists of the medium.
>>
They should have focused more on Untouch instead of fags like Unburn, that would have made this series way better
>>
I think this series could have a revival with more memes
>>
>>290089127
It never recovered from having the main guy try to rape the protag in the first chapter/episode.
>>
>>290103393
The first few chapters are really weird. Not just the rape attempts, there's also the Union guy that comes to capture them and says something like "We are the bad guys", which doesn't match at all with how the chungus brigade acts later on. If we're including the next few chapters as well, the way they off Void unceremoniously comes off as tonally weird compared to the latter half of the series as well, though I guess you could say it was sort of build up for the second Void. I'll give them the Gina kill, cause she got a great battle to go out on, but still.
The whole "You have to kill someone to get a seat or you get hunted down" thing, I don't think that stuck around either

I love Undead Unluck though, it was the WSJ chapter I looked forward to the most each week while it was running, I miss it
>>
I think the series went to shit with Undead sitting on the sun, like what the fuck was that?
>>
>>290099320
She's better with nice short hair.
>>
>>290104742
I have thought that the author began the series with a totally different idea regarding the union and all that, but then changed his mind around the time right after they killed void
Perhaps something to do with his editors idk, but it really seems like the case
>>
>>290107032
>>290104742
Yeah, what the fuck was all that? The Union presented itself as the bad guys, and that if they wanted to join them they needed to kill two of their members (something that was just bullshit when you read the rest of the series)
Feels like the author was just spitballing ideas on the run
>>
>>290090751
Because is normal

>>290107032

UU taught me how to love SJ manga besides One Piece again, and then its cancellation and the one-two-three punch of Wano sucking shit, Egghead sucking shit, and another Strawhat separation beginning arc taught me to hate Shonen Jump and One Piece. Funny how that works.

Sticking around for Ichi's run for Usazaki's sake, but unless Tozuka happens to return for another manga, I'm dipping from SJ after Ichi ends.
>>
>>290107736
Dogsred, actually. Exact same premise and characters, only now it's successful after Golden Kamuy. It's very fun.
>>
>>290089127
>eww fanservice? can we just not? this ain't it chief
Fuck off.
>>
>>290101934
Untouch had one of the better negator setups and got shafted because Tozuka kept introducing 50 characters and then speedrunning their therapy arc in 3 chapters. Unburn wasn't even a character, he was a quest item with legs.
>>
>>290089127
>flopped and rushed
Too bad for the ones who liked it.
I caught this one early and instantly hated the MC, good fucking lord I hate her.
>>
>>290107736
None that I can name off the top of my head, but the closest I can think of is Kenichi that got a continuation that takes place between its rushed ending and epilogue after the first one got cancelled for a really silly reason.
>>
>>290108985
>Untouch was a loli that was constantly naked
how did they get away with that?
>>
>>290101934

Untouch was my favorite character, and when she became a shitty uppity brat, my dick almost exploded
