I don't think Miura would have been able to finish Berserk even if he hadn't died early. Not in a way that satisfys the audience. There are just too many dangling plotlines left for all of them to get resolved.
>The Godhand and Griffith are still OP as hell
>There's currently no established way for Guts to kill them and avenge Casca and the Band Of The Hawk
>We still have no idea what Griffith and the Godhands final plans for Falconia and surviving humanity are.
>Casca while sane again, still has unresolved trauma from her rape that's keeping her from being with Guts.
>Skull Knights backstory, and where he exactly came from. Which fan theory will be correct? etc.
>Whatever the hell Miura had planned with the Moon Boy (Casca and Guts demon corrupted baby), if he'll be able to somehow weaken or influence causality and/or the godhand somehow.
>How the brand of sacrifice works and how and why it attracts apostles and evil spirits, and how if at all Guts and Casca can be free of it and live a peaceful life after they defeat griffith.
>Schrieke, Puck, Farnese, Serpico, and many other supporting characters plotlines are still unresolved.
>I think the only way to have all their plotlines resolved would be for them to be all killed off, and I don't want that.
>A full explanation about how casaulity and the 'idea of evil' work, and if fate can truly be defeated and the end of the world prevented.
>An explanation is necessary so the story doesn't feel like it's pulling a resolution from it's ass.
>If the rumors are true. Miura wanted the story to end with Guts and Casca forgiving Griffith and him getting a redemption of some kind. Perhaps sacrificing himself to stop the Godhand.
>After what he did at the Eclipse, that would piss everyone off.

Oh and I forgot about the Beherit Guts has in his posession. Which was clearly setup as a chekov's gun that Miura was planning to use eventually.
But it would completely go against all the progress Guts has made as a person and make the entire moral divide between Guts and Griffith pointless, if he ends up sinking to his level and using the Beherit to get his revenge.
>>
>>290097127
You know what happens when you don't explain stuff? You get the ending of The Boys and the Game Of Thrones TV show.
>>
>>290097152
Live action fantasy and superhero shit is cancer to begin with, so whether or not those shows' conclusions pleased their fanbases is of no relevance to Berserk.

I'm not asking for every little detail to be revealed. Just given everything we know about how fate, casaulity and the supernatural work in the Berserk universe so far. The only way it can end is with Guts failing to get revenge, everyone dying, and the godhand ruling over earth for all eternity.
And that sort of ending would just suck.

I agree because Muira wasted too much time on fillers, powercreep, and drawing naked children

If I had to try
>Griffith attack the elves through a tunnel, motivating everyone to raise an army against him
>Guts try to hold them all, in a time trap
>use the time-trap as a time lapse to make all the kids older, because fuck Muira pedophilia
>time trap insist on the fact Guts is in fact fighting like a Berserk for YEARS.
>then enter a quest to create his own army, starting with the dwarves
>use the magic tunnels to shorten travel
>gather the spread away support cast
>Casca gain an magic sight that is perfect to make her a perfect commander, but it case problem if she look at Guts
>kill that damn dragon
>kill the Godhands by entering their astral world where they are weaker
>killing them depower the various demons, making it easier for Gut to look like he kill more of them
>final battle
>the behelit is for Casca, which she reject
>use their child as a way to depower Griffith who used him to gain a body
>killing him deactivate every single brand
>a new red behelit appear

The story would end with the ILLUSION that Guts was the evil black warrior, and the white prince "sacrificed himself" to stop him. Only a few know the truth.

Not unlike another certain fantasy writer who will also very likely not finish his series.
Why do people give Kentaro Miura a pass when he did the exact same thing GRR Martin is doing now?
>>
>>290098926
>>290099050
Funny twist: actually don't kill the dragon, you don't talk about him because he can be reasoned with and become the mount of Guts.
>>
>>290096991
Some say procrastination comes not ftom laziness but from the task being insurmountably big.
>>
>>290098926
>>290099050
Oh yeah I completely forgot about the dragon. That's setup that went absolutely nowhere.
>>290098165
>Casca using the Behelit.
Oh damn that would suck. Guts just got her back. If she ended up using it. It would mean they'd never be able to be together ever again.
Also the Behelit requires sacrifice. Who would Casca sacrifice to get the power necessary to stop griffith? If she ends up dacrificing Moonboy, it would completely break Guts.
>>
>>290099066
>Why do people give Kentaro Miura a pass when he did the exact same thing GRR Martin is doing now?
Certainly not giving either a pass myself,
Nowadays Fantasy writers can't even grow past Tolkien tropes.

>>290099084
>insurmountably big
Only because he did nothing to address it.
He just cruised on his success,
made filler battles,
drew naked children,
didn't move any plot forward,
pushed back getting Casca back when he could have reached Elfheim years ago.

Maybe he had excuse like his health, but he certainly didn't seem to care. He would have no honor left if he didn't bring Casca back before his death.
>>
>>290099164
>Oh damn that would suck.
Guaranteeing it to happen in Berserk setting. which is why it would be a surprise for her to NOT use it
>>
>>290098338
I'll will start a crusade if Berserk ends the way The Boys did. It would be a complete insult for that to happen to Grifith. He's a monster but he wouldn't go out like a total pussy like Homelander did.

>Nowadays Fantasy writers can't even grow past Tolkien tropes.
The problem is that when a story gets to be a certain length, it outgrows it's creator and takes on a life of it's own, and the way the story 'wants' to end is very different from how the author wants it to end. Readers have expectations of how a story should resolve itself based on the setup. And if you dont meet those expectations at least somewhat, people aren't going to be happy.
It becomes like trying to wrangle a snake. Sometimes you can put the snake back in it's cage, other times it bites you and kills your entire story and makes all you fans angry.
>>
>>290099499
Thankfully I trust Mori Kouji to not deliberately ruin things since he was Miura's BFF. But I can't help but feel he'll be left holding the bag when the ending inevitably disappoints. I hope he still has a career afterwards.
>>
>>290096991
Nah it'll be done in like 30-40 chapters. They're sprinting to the end
>>
>>290099634
Yeah. But it won't be the ending it deserves.
>>
>>290096991
Miura never thought about an ending; Berserk excels artistically. Fate is a cheap excuse for the author to do whatever he wants; look at Araki.
>>
>>290096991
>The Godhand and Griffith are still OP as hell
>There's currently no established way for Guts to kill them
The lost chapter confirms they're powered by human perception. Look at what's at play right now
>Silat is able to communicate to people en masse using Daiba
>99% of the population is in Falconia
>Sonia is jealous of Casca
>Schierke is in Falconia
>Silat had control of the Kushan army
>Guts is motivated
>Guts has a Behelit and is taxiing it to someone
>Skull Knight has a sword that can cut holes in space and time and he can now manifest at will

I think Griffiths plan to establish his play house kingdom could have crashed down around his head at the same time that Guts, basically on his own, snuck in and found an opportunity to wreck his shit in a 1 on 1 fight. Could have made for some very kino call backs to the duel they had when everything went to shit. Guts has always been a solo guy just surviving as events happen around him. His revenge on Griffith is very personal, and Griffith has always sought to sacrifice the personal for grandiose dreams way above any individual person (but he also wants to keep some individuals around because theyre entertaining).

This would have been probably the only satisfying way to keep the stories themes consistent. Guts cant lead an army, but he could make his way to the throne room when the army is sieging the castle to cut Griffith in half before he maybe tries to escape or something.
>>
>>290099566
nta but I think the time component itself is a huge issue with some of these stories, some authors plan, write and get something out complete in a few years and that's that, whereas the first game of thrones book came out in 1996 and berserk started in 1989, we're talking about decades here, pretty much the entirety of the authors' adult lives, I mean idk about you but if I try picturing myself 10-20 years ago there would be a LOT that's different on my views of the world and how I engaged with it, so it's not crazy to imagine that these authors had various different and conflicting ideas for their stories as they kept developing them, how they wanted them to go, which only adds to the murky nature of how they could even be concluded
>>
>>290099730
If it's not his Behelit than who's is it? Was he planning to introduce an entirely new character to the story who's sole purpose was to use the Behilt so Guts didn't have to?
>>
>>290099818
>which only adds to the murky nature of how they could even be concluded
Assuming George bothers to conclude his at all and isn't just grifting because he's a lazy Boomer who got his.

Realistically, the best time to finish the manga should have been exactly after the tower duel. Mozgus was killed, Caska was saved, and Griffith had just been resurrected. Instead of foolishly extending the manga, Griffith should have tried to capture Caska immediately, which would have triggered the final battle. At that moment the Skull Knight was also there and Guts was at his absolute best.

The Tower Arc was also the perfect moment to end the story because it was the epilogue of Caska's rescue and from then on the manga completely lost its direction.
>>
>>290099867
Personally I think it would have or would be really neat if Guts was at a moment of desperation where it seems like resorting to the Behelit is his only chance but then he says 'fuck that', gets up from looking at it and goes back to doing it his way.
>>
>>290099867
Would be funny if Puck uses it, and sacrifices the whole group other than Guts to do it. Never trust the Fae.
>>
>>290099903
There was nothing wrong with the pacing until they got on that fucking boat Anon. The real problem is Miura got burnt out on the story for years and spent it playing video games and drawing hyper detailed pictures of the ship.
>>
>>290099634
>30-40 chapters
So 10 more years?
>>
>>290099810
>His revenge on Griffith is very personal,
The revenge IS the problem. Miura, for whatever reason be it personal moral or religious hangups, or just not feeling revenge was a big enough finale for the story. Didn't want the story to end with revenge. Because at other points in the story (Guts interactions with Puck and Farnese especially) he makes it clear that revenge is a place only very broken and depairing men go, and that it's not a place Guts should go.
But at the same time. Given all the evil shit Griffith has done. Killing The Band Of The Hawk, raping Casca, releasing monsters and demons from Berserks version of hell to consume and rape humanity, gaslighting all of the survivors into thinking he's a savior god when he's really an agent for demons. It'd be a copout and unsatisfying as all hell for Guts not to kill him.
The story and the audience WANTS Guts to have his revenge on Griffith. The only one who didn't want Guts to get revenge? Miura himself.
>>
>>290099808
Essentially 4 deities that can be summoned by humanity at will if there's enough belief in them. They're fucked just now because of a century's worth of Holy See fuckery destroying their legacy by making killing witches
>>
>>290099867
>Was he planning to introduce an entirely new character to the story who's sole purpose was to use the Behilt so Guts didn't have to?
Probably not. The Behelit Guts has is currently unaccounted for - it's with his gear. Perfect time for it to be taken by a thief (or Daiba/Silat).

I think he'd probably sacrifice his fellow fae before he sacrifices the other members. Because Puck throughout the entire story has been the only character who's been a source of a genuinely good supernatural presence in a world where every other source of magic is evil.
I'd be very disappointed if that happened.
>>
>>290100149
>My money is on Charlotte.
I mean that would be karmic, considering Griffith seducing and/or raping her hoping to marriage by rape his way to the throne, was the first step on the road towards the Eclipse and Falconia.
Then again. The power of the Beheilt comes from the Godhand right? Wouldn't it be against their interests to give her the power to kill Griffith given he's still instrumental to their plans?

Guts kill Griffith at the height of the eclipse.
Somewhere, someone else uses a red behelith, but refuse it, and a golden age begin for them
>>
>>290097132
I think the moon child will be the key to Griffith's defeat.

The moon child decides to sacrifice himself as he is Griffith's only weakness and when that happens, Guts with his sword tainted with hundreds of berserk apostles will be able to seriously injure and leave Griffith near death.

And that's when the Behelit comes into play, it turns out that Griffith himself is the user of the Behelit that Guts and Puck were carrying this entire time.

And Griffith who uses it, is met up with the other God Hands in his mortally wounded and pathetic state and he's told that in order for him to survive, he has to sacrifice once again, except this time, what he has to sacrifice is the entire Falconian Empire that he got from his first wish, because that's what he loved the most, and the Empire and it's people and the Princess herself watches as Ubik and Conrad show everyone what Griffith did (just like how they showed the Count's daughter what happened to her mother and what the Count did) and everyone realizes that all this time, Griffith was actually a demon and they all curse him as the false God.

Griffith now has to make the choice, sacrifice the Empire to live or die, and knowing there's really no way out of this, as he's never going to get his Empire or the people's respect and worship ever again, he decides to NOT sacrifice, just like the Count did with his daughter.

After that decision, just like the Count, Griffith's soul is condemned to eternity in hell, and Guts and Casca watch as he's dragged to that hell by the souls of Judeau, Pippin, Gaston and the other Band of the Hawks members. Judeau and the others may even look at Guts and Casca and acknowledge them, thanking them or bowing to them or something before they leave, and the brand of sacrifice finally stops bleeding and heals from their bodies and Guts and Casca finally hug and move on.
>>
>>290100044
I still don't get it. moon child was Griffith all along?
>>
>>290100897
I really like your idea anon.
Him dying the same way as the Count would make for a nice callback. And I can totally see him not willing to sacrifice his stupid empire.

I've always wondered if Miura had ever intended on killing the other God Hand members, considering we barely even saw them after the eclipse and that brain guy seemed completely untouchable.

It also pains me to know we'll never see the final fights with important apostles like Zodd, the dragon guy, the archer guy etc.
>>
>>290096991
Yep. Same with HxH. Im kinda glad I dropped both after those legendary hiatus, cause no one can actually finish these series anyway
>>
>>290099566
I call bullshit.
The author ALWAYS control the story, every single details of it is meant to go in a direction.

If the public feel disappointed, it is solely if the author is a HACK.
A hack who made shit up on the go,
A hack who didn't plan this shit to the end,
A hack who let popular opinion decide the ending because he has no guts.

It doesn't mean the author has absolute imagination of what will happen 1259 pages later, but if he doesn't know the story-defining elements of his story, it's simply not a story in the first place.

It doesn't mean either the ending is meant to be popular. Tragedy sell, not all public are the same.
There's plenty of stories I disliked, but the story made perfect sense and I can't fault any of it.
>>
>>290096991
Imo it is already completed. Where he died was perfect. Theyd just made it to the island “fixed” Casca and sorted the adventure out. That is a clean end to the travel arc. The followon arc to deal with griffith could be left as a separate series/tale.
>>
>>290096991

Well it is when you write like an architect with a plan for everything from the get go and not like a gardener who lets the ivy overgrow and strangle everything. And to me, it looks like Miura really had no plan for where the story should go or how it should end after The Eclipse, and let his garden get overgrown with too many plotlines. Not that different from GRR Martin being unable to figure out how to end Game Of Thrones in a way that won't piss everyone off.

Again. I don't really care for the idea of Griffith getting a redemption of any kind after what he did at the Eclipse. Even if it's only a small redemption, it would kind of undermine the entire point of the story up to that point.
The audience and story wants to end with Guts getting his revenge. This would rob Guts and the Audience of that final bloody showdown.
>>
>>290102780
>marry casca and live happily ever after. the end
The brand would keep them from having that happily ever after. Even if Guts did kill Griffith, the Godhand wouldn't take having their ultimate plan for consuming all of humanity lying down and would send their agents to hunt and hound Guts and Casca keeping them from a life of peace, and then when they die torture their souls forever.
