Nobody wants to be condemned to the adaptation mines forever. She probably had an original manga in mind she wanted to work on and took the first exit. It's similar reasoning to why anons thought Chigusa canceled Semifriend to pick up Watanare. You can only work on so much at once, and being chained to one series for a decade is hardly appealing when it's not even your own.
