I liked it. Mostly the first half but the second half had its moments.

Cartoon Network wanted an ending so it got rush and wasn't what the creators wanted. I heard the two new flcl anime were dog diarrhea because of Cartoon Network's involvement too but I never liked the original anyway.

The mystery of "whatever happened 40 years ago" was fun, fascinating, and intriguing. When it became "there's a mystery INSIDE the mystery and the first mystery was a lie" that was some bullshit. Fortunately the characters stayed good enough that the show mostly stuck the landing despite this.

Multiple Gundam anime have great animation, but the mecha there are light and fluid in their motions.Big O deliberately chooses heavy, ponderous, powerful movements for its mecha. The weight is a creative choice.I do think it's pretty telling that the mecha are referred to as "megadeus," which is basically "large god." The mecha are machine gods and have the weight and power you'd expect a god to have.
