It ended up kinda axed in the the end, but it was very fun to the very end for what it was worth. As for isekai? I don't think you'll find much. But there was Otoko Nara, I guess. It takes some time to get to that part, but once it reaches the Dungeon Crawling mega-arc, it starts focusing on survival during each dungeon run, it might actually be the best dungeon runner isekai overall.

It just shows off an even larger island than theirs, which is good enough motivation for the group to find a way across the ocean to it. It could work in a similar way with the MC spotting a castle up in the mountains, and spending time preparing for his likely one-way trip up there. Then maybe at a high vantage point, he can spot other locations and find hints of possible civilization still existing. Maybe give him a near mindbreak chapter where he starts to question if its even worth meeting other sapient life at the possibility of dying to them.. Vintage Story is definitely a good parallel, though that game focuses more on trying to build and advance your own home, while this one could have more of a focus on trying to find a safe place to live.

OK, this is actually a pretty good SCP/JJK inspired urban fantasy horror story even without the isekai aspect. Aside from the author going overboard with the SCP-style “[Redacted] Dossier”/“Field Report”/“Observational Record” style content (that has the stench of being AI generated) , the actual prose is interesting and colorful in a way that I rarely see in light novels, it’s pretty hard to sell horror content in written form but I think it does a good job at it. The world building is interesting too since it’s a JJK/Tokyo Ravens-esque “Japanese exorcists with a modern twist” setting taken to an extreme where the hidden exorcist society runs on magitech far more technologically advanced than the outside world, though the made up technical jargon can get overbearing at times.I’d read an unironic version of this even without the GB MC being strong armed into larping as an obsessed yandere by an SCP. It’s kind of refreshing that the yuri harem of SCPs isn’t forming around the GB MC but his exorcist partner though.
