I used to think people who called Ichikawa "annoying", "creepy", etc. were missing the point of the manga but in some way i have to agree with them now. He used to be cringe in an endearing way, now he is just cringe.

Yamada giving the politician speech
Thanks for the dump. These final chapters have been underwhelming but I’m not sure what I want instead. The last emotional payoff I can expect would be coming clean about their relationship to those that don’t already suspect/know about it but that doesn’t feel like much of a hurdle with how the characters are now. Feels like we could have had something a bit deeper if we had forgone the amusement park.

Spending so much of the home stretch on an arc like the graduation trip rather than something more focused on just Ichi and Yamada doesn't make sense if this is the last thing Norio's going to write with them but makes perfect sense if it's just the end of their time in middle school.
