I feel disappointed, Shinobu’s storyline lasted about 2.5 chapters and Igarashi simply decided to show us a flashforward that she managed to fulfill her dream. Personally, I would have preferred to learn something about Shinobu’s past. As for the flashforward itself, because of the entire narration of this storyline, it works somewhat against her, the conversation about distance and the lack of emotional closeness with Arisu. Also, adult Shinobu did not make declarations like Nene did in her flashforward that she loves Arisu, and I think Nene’s conversation with her fan saves Nene’s flashforward from potentially ruling her out because we have Nene there calling Arisu someone close to her, then Nene being embarrassed when the question whether Arisu is her boyfriend comes up, the fan states that Nene looks like a girl in love, and finally Nene answers that she loves Arisu. And I think something similar was missing from Shinobu’s flashforward. Personally, this flashforward seemed a little sad to me, but maybe I am overthinking it.I don’t think this 100% rules Shinobu out, and I hope she manages to win.
