This episode makes me recall Urobuchi's article on the ending of G-reco>They are freed from the boring curses known as "catharsis" or "conclusions" and head towards the future. When I saw the end credits I was just moved, and exclaimed " they did it!". I had been worried about the limits of storytelling, and was just thankful for this slap from a veteran creator to me. Reconguista of G made me genki.Like, it's obvious that a lot of the viewers (myself one of them) are chasing the high of mygo episode 10 which is an emotional cathartic explosion. Then Ave. Mujica had an evil fucked up version of it where the band is brought back together but in this odd simulacrum of genuine bonds. And then yumemita just breaks away from it. There's no deep cutting lyrics to perform, only a bunch of dumb teens banging on things to make music together. In a way this is even more pure of a musical reunion because there aren't any words, only sound.

She didn't quit because it was going poorly, if anything she was afraid of how well it was going. She hasn't been around enough for Miyako's drama or to get that attached to Mewtype yet, but was starting to get her hopes up after the live show. That combined with a reminder of her past triggered a depressive spiral that she periodically goes into. She poured her passion into her old band but found she was the only one who really cares and it's hard finding the courage to care again after. And then she likely took it out on herself for bailing on them which led to the even more depressed tweets. A big theme this season is how fragile online entertainers can be and I think the message this week is that connecting on such a simple level in person is important.

I don't know what the point of this anime is or what people even like about it. Everything here just feels completely meaningless. It's just worse than avemygo. What did we even see in this episode? They are ignoring the viola, the main problem of the anime. They ignore Miyako as if she never said anything. The band is going to reunite just because they love music? Because 3 out of 5 members want it? Why did Yuno change her mind?I especially dislike the dialogue compared to avemygo, the dialogue here is like white noise. Like, they show us Yuno band, but they don't show how they broke up or what happened to them later. No, they are just happy, they talk about nonsense (we will be a band forever, we will conquer the world, we need to clean the room), and then they just split up. This looks nothing like the story of Umiri or Saya band. It feels like Rokka story, but Rokka left the band to become something bigger and she was a really cool guitarist. Did Yuno just end up alone because she was weak? Or what? And someone wrote that she and Umiri are similar. Yes, the problem is similar in form, but not in substance. For Umiri the issue is much more seriousYuno didn't want to be part of a band, but she became part of one then wanted to leave, but then decided to stay again. What? Umiri wanted to be part of band but was afraid of being left alone, so she joined 30 bands so she would always have a backup band if one of them drop her and she wouldn't get too attached to any of them, yet she chose Mujica because deep down she wants to be in just one band. And I’m skipping a lot of details in her story hereAs for what is happening with Nono. Did she feel lonely just because she was alone on stage? How can such hyperactive person with tons of friends feel lonely? She joined the band to.. Why did she join? Just to play? Or just to make Yuno happy, whom she supposedly admires? And that’s it? Analysis is impossible here because there is no deeper meaning

Miyako still has her issues too, but it's not like she threatened to quit either. She stayed relatively silent this episode because she's likely still confused about everything and feels bad about what she said to Nonoka. Yuno changed her mind because she was endeared to the big group of dorks and their sheer dedication to keeping the band together. Unlike her previous band, which fizzled out after the members found other things to do, for MewType the band is their dream. Also, Nonoka going feral on her probably helped knock some sense into her. Like Nonoka said, Yuno has self destructive spirals every so often, and people in those spirals tend to push everyone away, even if they're just what they need to feel better. The rest of the band managed to cheer her up with their cringefest, and we can see from the next episode preview that she'll have gained the confidence to face her old band member. Nonoka felt alienated because while she was popular and had friends, she didn't really connect with people on a deeper level, or feel inspired by them. When she heard Yuno's music, it did exactly that and encouraged her to keep going with her music, which led to her joining MewType and meeting Yuno by chance.

It doesn't work for everyone but this episode was strong for solving things the old fashioned way. And it manages to work in some interesting themes about online entertainment, detachment, keeping track of who you are, and ultimately forming real connections away from a screen. I doubt it will hit the highs of MyGo and Mujica but this season's a lot more solid than I anticipated.
