Nips couldn't get into the story because Coco and her friends are boring as fuck (not even interesting enough for the lolicons to do anything with them) and Quifrey is clearly the author's pet. Just some baby edgy stuff isn't enough for people to care about a protagonist, especially so many volumes in after most people have dropped the manga. Compare the reception of WHA to something like Medalist where the young girls are all interesting and you can see where WHA flounders in its character writing and dynamics. Medalist's anime looked like ass and was barely competently done and yet it ended up the bigger hit and you constantly see nips/East Asians making fanart for it. Whereas WHA is only big in the West, in France for its art and in America for being a "safe" unproblematic fantasy with a female main character.
