Nausicaa anime is like a "greatest hits" album.I think more than half, maybe a full three quarters of the story from the manga is skipped over. I wish somebody would adapt the rest of it. Akira is the same deal. Of course, the manga wasn't even finished when the movie came out, so it's more understandable.
Shuna's Journey would make a great film, btw.A hell of a lot better than the fucking boy and the heron...
Howl's Moving Castle is wildly different from the source novel, especially the characterization of Howl. It's a very pretty movie, but half of it is wasted on a pointless half-baked war subplot that's just hand-waved away at the end. It's a shame because I think the author's style and humor is well suited to anime, but they stripped most of it away to make a generic fantasy movie.

Retards, the movie was made by Miyazaki, the author of the very same manga, when the manga wasn't even remotely finished.So both are their own canon.I'd even go as far to say that the movie is better because it ended on a highnote and not a jaded slowly encroaching doom from an evermore convoluted manga.

The only things the manga does better is Kushana and based Namulith, but it's not enough to save it because everything in the manga is just a side-show to the endless Nausicaa wank.
