I gotta rate this episode as: 1/10 aka it’s retarded. Orihime gets an asspull, and isn’t even considered a war potential by Yhwach. Rukias action was limited. Bankai Ichigo was useless. The entire point of the story was Ichigo to fight up to bankai to avenge his mom, but the anime/Kubo made Orihime surpass Ichigo in terms of main character (well I guess that’s easy to do when you’re given an asspull). Why didn’t Kubo include any of this in the manga? Did he really dick around with mayuri that much?

I think my favorite part of that sequence is Orihime upon seeing Ichigo and Rukia defeated and horribly injuried clearly looks like she's gonna break down crying again, but instead she quells her trembling lower lip and resolves herself to stop Yhwach even if it costs her life, her determination was really on point this episode with how she refused to stop healing Ichigo when Yhwach was stabbing him, refused to stop healing herself when Yhwach was stabbing her and was pushing through the pain she was in to try and heal Rukia that Ichigo had to stop her there because neither he nor Rukia were finished just yet and then there's Rukia, the way she appeared her presence alone reassured both Orihime and Ichigo this was still a winnable fight, you could even tell through their trademark bickering that it was their way of psyching each other up before they get back to itIt's no wonder Renji wasn't there for this, Rukia, Ichigo and Orihime are the first 3 major characters of Bleach of course Kubo wanted them to shine in one episode together. Bleach is really just the prototype version of JJK and it made me realize that I don't give a flying fuck about cool fights in battle shounen if there's no emotional weight behind them.It's important to establish that characters and their relationships are the most important part of a series, they're the bread and butter of manga as Togashi stated. Araki praised Togashi, not for his ability to write complex battles, but because he knows how to write characters that feel human, characters that could be your friends in real life. Likewise, Togashi praised Oda and said One Piece's biggest strength was its emotional moments and Oda was an expert at making his audience cry for his characters and relate to them on a human level.The characters in Bleach are not humans and they lack meaningful relationships. They're concepts, more akin to puppets. The "cool fights" in Bleach is essentially just watching two action figures going at it, beating the shit out of each other. Characters are introduced, say a few cool one-liners and strike some poses to get yumejos wet, and then are maimed and beaten up or just get written out of the story. The author is autistic and cannot imbue a single soul or emotion into his work because he's so afraid to have his characters look vulnerable and ugly.
